WEEKLY UPDATES: A BUSY WEEK…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

How did the week fly by so quickly, with so little reading to show for it?  Probably because I was easily distracted by other things, like rearranging my space…again.  And movies and shows on Netflix, Hulu, and Prime.

In the end, I did read/review two books:  one fairly long (474 pages) and the other one pretty short at 240 pages.

I did a major overhaul of my closet, removing the jelly cupboard so more clothes can fit in the space…and changing up my entry way to accommodate the “recycled” furnishings.

The closet is not yet finished.  I ordered a curtain and a rod, coming on Tuesday.  Meanwhile, here is what it looked like this morning when I had coffee at the table, speculating on what to do next.

Now…let us take a closer look at my week…

That was my week.  What did yours look like?  As I think about the meals I’ve enjoyed from the past, here is one from Early Pandemic times when they served something delicious:  Turkey, stuffing, and pie.

  1. Mmm turkey and stuffing… one of my favorites. 🙂 And this week did fly by, I agree. I didn’t do a lot of reading but I mostly watched Netflix in my off time lol. Did you watch Marcella?

Hope your weekend and week ahead are great!

    1. Oh, yes, I have been watching Marcella. I read that it has been two years since the last season, so that’s why it is taking me a while to catch up!

I do love turkey and stuffing, any time of the year.

Enjoy your week, Greg, and thanks for visiting.

    1. Oh, yes, I do love how I feel afterwards, Linda, and then I go around snapping photos. LOL. Just in case I forget to keep up with it, and need a reminder of that feeling..

I hope you have a great week, and I am looking forward to the Higgins book….although I have two of her other books still unread!

I’m so proud of you for sorting out your cupboard, it looks lovely! My sister comes to visit about once or twice a year, and she loves sorting out my cupboard. Of course she considers taking a few things as relevant payment for services rendered.

Glad you had to time for reading and reviewing as well. We didn’t really have much time, still sorting out the blog and still busy with school stuff.

Hope you will have a good week! Here’s my The Sunday Post

    1. Thanks, Mareli, and I continued with the project after I took those photos. New hangers arrived in the mail from Amazon, and now it is really starting to look like an OCD person lives here! LOL

Enjoy your week, and how great to have some help sorting out from your sister.

      Stay safe.

  3. I seem to be doing a lot of closet cleaning and organizing and truthfully, I am happy that I have the time. I’m watching Marcella too. I just clicked and looked at the books you share and “Always The Last to Know” looks like I might give it a read. Thanks

  4. I am SO impressed with your tidy closet! I’m of the school – stuff-it-in-and-quickly-close-the-door… I suppose at some stage I’ll have to battle the beast, but not right now. As the world falls apart around me, having to face my inner untidiness doesn’t seem like a good plan to me:). Have a great week, Laurel – wishing you more of that turkey and stuffing pie:))

    1. Yes, I have been visiting other blogs where closet tidying is going on, Mary. I think being “locked down” is conducive to that kind of activity.

May we all relax and enjoy them, now that they’re done! Well, mine is not quite done. The curtain and rod will arrive on Tuesday. Hopefully.

Enjoy your week and stay safe.

  5. You are such a clever decorator. Once something goes up on my wall, it basically will not move until I die. I need you around here to shake me up a little, I think.

Your books look fabulous. I’m glad you enjoyed Pretty Things and Swan Song.

I wish I’d taken more photos of food last winter when I was in Paris. They may be the last photos I ever take in restaurants.

    Have a good week.

    1. Thanks, Deb, I am a compulsive redecorator. I used to literally redecorate, but now I am always rearranging, lol. I am a Mary Engelbreit fan, and she’s from the “rearranging” school of thought.

I also photograph everything, from food to furnishings, lol.

  6. It always seems to me that there is never enough room in a clothes closet – it doesn’t matter what the size. I just use the smallest one for my clothes. The bigger one gets all my quilting fabric!! Books look good, I wonder which of us will get to the Kristan Higgins book first.

    1. I have a very small closet, and only one! But it will be much more useful to me with my little cupboard placed elsewhere. And the cupboard now has the focus as you enter the apartment.

I had a walk-in closet in my former residence, but it was always crowded and messy. LOL.

Enjoy your quilting, Kathryn…and your Kristan Higgins. I have no idea when I’ll read the new one, as I have two of her other books waiting, too.

      Stay safe!

    1. It is a major distraction to get online and watch things…but I try to do a little of it each day. As a change of pace.

Thanks for visiting, A.J., and enjoy your week. Cleaning and rearranging are fun for me! (If done together). Just cleaning, not so much. LOL

    1. I am really enjoying You Can’t Catch Me. Pretty Things was good, but too long for the kind of week I was having. I eventually finished it, though.

Enjoy your week, and Always the Last to Know looks so good.

      Thanks for visiting, Anne.

  7. I get easily distracted too and have only read one book this week. I’ve accomplished nothing else so I’m not sure where the time went. Kristan Higgan’s book looks good. She’s a great author. Hope you enjoy your books and have a good week.

    1. When I am distracted by other things, my reading does sink to a low. I picked a book with 474 pages this past week, and then finished out with a 240 page book. I don’t know how I’ll manage to read the books on my shelves with 800 pages. LOL.

Thanks for visiting, Yvonne, and I do enjoy Kristan Higgins. I have two of her other books on my shelves, still unread, however.

Thanks for visiting, Yvonne, and stay safe.

  8. Is the food situation is improving at all? I love a good turkey dinner, too, and hope they’ll serve it again soon. Good luck with the rest of your closet project… enjoy your reading, viewing, and blogging this week!

    1. On the days we go to the dining room, things are better…primarily because I send things back and ask for alternate foods. LOL.

The only thing that gets through to them is voicing my complaints…with a big smile. LOL.

I am loving the closet/apartment project.

Thanks for visiting, JoAnn, and have a great week.

I told my daughter yesterday that at the end of this pandemic quarantine I want my freezer to be empty. I buy stuff and put it in there and it never seems to come out. Today I cooked the freezer-burned chicken for dog food. Though I am doing better about not wasting food, i still have a long way to go. Sigh. My Sunday Salon

    1. I am really loving You Can’t Catch Me. I enjoy a book that grabs me from the first page.

I also do enjoy a lot of these activities, and just wish they weren’t happening because of a Pandemic. Sigh. But everything happened at a good point in my life: retired, settled in, surgeries behind me. So there’s that.

      Enjoy your reading. Stay safe.

  10. Hi Lorraine,

Wow! You did have a busy week!

I have been at home for almost 12 weeks now and really have very little to show for it, which is most disappointing! In all fairness, we were asked not to have a spring clean during lockdown, as all the recycling centres were closed, along with the charity shops. Both are now re-opening slowly, so I intend to begin my sort-out very soon, and we are talking the whole house here, including my stashes of knitting wool and books!!

I really like the sound of both ‘You Can’t Catch Me’ and ‘The Half Sister’, so I look forward to seeing what you think of them.

Thanks for sharing and take care 🙂

    1. Thanks for visiting, Yvonne, and I feel fortunate that I can hand over my recycling to the staff here, and they take care of it. Easy peasy.

Enjoy your sorting and reshuffling. Stay safe.

I am loving You Can’t Catch Me.

  11. I hope your dining options are getting better, now that you can go to the dining room. And that there is no wine drought happening. 🙂

I feel like all I do anymore is online shop! I am not even a big shopper, but dang, lately I feel like I am always shopping. A new rug, a new blanket, tons of stuff for Wyatt (although a lot of it is books and we know how important those are!), so much I feel like. Lol.

    Stay safe Laurel-Rain!

    1. So far so good, Erin, although there are sometimes skimpy servings, which I can usually attribute to one or two staff members.

Thanks for visiting, Erin, and I do a lot more shopping these days, too.

      Have a great week!

  12. I’m an ebook only reader, but have been known to waste time organising them into folders, prioritising their reading order etc.so I know just what you mean. For me it’s usually a form of procrastination.
    Enjoy your books!

The Half Sister sounds good, and I cant wait to read You Can’t Catch Me, I hope you love it. Have a great week!

    1. Sometimes I wish I could do that…settle on a theme and a look, and leave it alone. LOL. But I am always itching to move things, touch them just a bit, and add little bits and pieces.

Enjoy your books…and thanks for visiting, Kathy.

  15. I sorted through clothes last week too! It was satisfying doing it but now I have a pile of things I need to deliver to recycling or charity and can’t because of COVID restrictions. Sigh.

Hope you have another good week of books and tv! I’d love to start reading again this week… I’ve been in such a slump.

    1. Ah, yes, the restrictions that hinder our activities! I am feeling kind of lucky living in a senior residential home. I am in my own apartment, but with staff that can haul away our recycling. A year ago, I wouldn’t have found anything positive about where I am living. LOL.

I do miss being able to go out, though. Grabbing a Lyft and going to a restaurant or shopping. Maybe that time will come again.

Thanks for visiting, Nicci, and stay safe.

That book A Million Little Lies …. sounds like a Trump book eh? Or maybe his would be: A Million Big Lies … the guy’s a fraud … pure & simple. What are you watching this week? I think my husband has me watching a Netflix series called The Spy starring Sacha Baron Cohen … so far we’ve only seen a couple episodes and I’m trying to keep up with it. Enjoy your week!

    1. Oh, yes, a sickening fraud that gets worse every day. There seems to be no end to the damage he does. Now he is trying to kill his own supporters, with those rallies!

I started watching Perry Mason on HBO…and I am not sure about it yet. Matthew Rhys is an interesting star, though. To me, that actor will always be the son of Sally Field’s character in Brothers and Sisters. LOL.

I hope that we soon see the last of #45!

Today has been a strange one. We felt an earthquake, and then the alarms keep going off around here, probably just testing. Nobody bothers to tell us about them, though. Sigh.

The whole Covid-19 thing is becoming a way of life.

I hope you’re staying safe, Susan. Are you mostly living in Canada? If so, lucky you.
