Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
Greetings, Bloggers! Another week closer to the end of 2020! While I spent most of the week reading one book—and it was a good one!—I finally finished a second one today! A few blog posts kept me connected, but I also spent a lot of time binge-watching shows/movies on Netflix and Prime. I hope to finally start the new season of The Crown this week.
As the Thanksgiving holidays approach, I have mixed feelings. We thought we would get to celebrate with family and friends, but this residence put a kibosh on that plan. They are bringing in some treats for the holiday meal, however, including mimosas and a dessert bar.
Now let’s grab something caffeinated…and take a closer look at the week.
LAST WEEK ON THE BLOGS:
Tuesday Excerpts: “I’ll Be Seeing You”
Tuesday Potpourri: Bookish Magic…
Dusting Off Another Neglected Book…
Bookish Friday: “A Well-Behaved Woman”

INCOMING BOOKS:
Two books arrived in my physical mailbox, and I downloaded one e-book.

Piece of My Heart, by Mary Higgins Clark & Alafair Burke

Goodnight Beautiful, by Aimee Molloy

CURRENTLY READING: My e-ARC that will be released on December 8:

That was my week. What did yours look like? A couple of months ago, I enjoyed this apple pie a la mode…and I’m dreaming of more of this treat in the holiday seasons ahead.
***
I see a couple of books that look very good.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend!

I’m sorry to hear that about thanksgiving! Yay for mimosas though. 🙂
I’ve been doing some binging as well, and it felt nice after slacking on my shows lately haha.
Be well this week!

Thanks, Greg, I do love binging a lot lately! There is something comforting about relaxing into the lazy task of viewing.
I hope to enjoy the mimosas…what’s not to enjoy?
Have a great week and enjoy the holiday.

I think your residence has made a good decision really. It sounds from the news we are getting that Covid is raging more than ever so best to sacrifice this Thanksgiving so that you can celebrate most likely in 2021. A pain I know. I want to binge into The Crown – just need to get in the mood.

Thanks, Kathryn, I think this holiday week would be a good one to immerse myself in The Crown. I also have some books to enjoy, so what could be better?
Enjoy your week and your bingeing.

I am so sorry to hear you won’t be able to see family over Thanksgiving, Laurel-Rain – I hope you will still be able to speak to them and that the mimosas and a dessert bar will help cheer things up for you! 🙏 Take care and happy reading! 🙂

There’s a pear cake cooking in my oven at this very moment 🙂 Yes, the end of the year won’t probably be as festive as we hoped it would be, estranged from friends and family… Fortunately we have books and I do hope that 2021 will make up for this year ! Have a peaceful sunday 🙂

Thanks, Izabel, I am definitely looking forward to 2021! When we can read and watch movies, we have the best gifts one could have in isolation.
Enjoy your pear cake!

I am sorry about your disappointment over Thanksgiving – we are bracing ourselves for an isolated Christmas this year, because I cannot see how we can all get together completely safely:(. Not unless the infection rate drops like a stone.
In the meantime, yay for books and TV programmes! I love the look of the that pie and I hope there are plenty more treats in the pipeline, Laurel:).

Thanks, Sarah, I do love the silver lining that isolation brings: books, movies, and lazing about in my apartment. Treats in the dining room are a good thing, too.
I love finding things online to watch, and realize that the technology we enjoy lends itself really well to our current times.
Have a great week.

Oh yes! I think back to only a few decades ago, when I used to have to ration myself with my sci fi reads, because getting hold of new books from my favourite authors was difficult and expensive! I am so blessed to be living right now, with all the technology at my fingertips. And to be able to share my joy of books with people around the world. I still get a frisson of pleasure every time I open up my blog at that notion…
You have a lovely week, too, Laurel:)

We are enjoying Crown Season 4 – which you’ll like too. Too bad about Thanksgiving there — stock up on the mimosas and the apple & pecan pies. & of course books & shows. Just knowing #45 will be gone soon — is one thing that we have to be grateful for. It sounds like his plans to overturn the election are beginning to crumble — so pleased. take care & talk later.

Hi Laurel-Rain, I’m sorry you don’t get to spend Thanksgiving with your family. You are welcome to log in to your virtual family any time!
You can never go wrong with a Mary Higgins Clark. I just talked about her on my Friday Post! Although I’ve never read any of the ones she’s written with Alarfair Burke. My sister has and she loves it.
We’ve only watched one episode of The Crown Season 4 so far, but it’s great!
Have a good week and enjoy your books.

Mmmmm, mimosas! Not really a substitute for family visits, but still nice! We’re not going to see our adult children for Thanksgiving. Saving the risk-taking for Christmas, which I’m still holding out hope for. I haven’t read any of your books yet, but they look good!
Thanks for visiting my blog! With my schedule change, I go into work late on Mondays again, so I get to do my visits earlier than I have been lately.

Good mailbox week for you. Both of the books you received look interesting.
I haven’t really been reading much that has been exceptionally good. I’d hoped to simply read nonfiction this month, but my favorites have been fiction!
I would love to have some of that delicious apple pie a la mode.

Quality is always better than quantity with books! I think you are very sensible in a reduced Thanksgiving – I hope it is still an enjoyable holiday for you. Normally we have my parents over for Christmas, but they are both in their 70’s and are staying at home as much as possible. We will no doubt connect up with a video call and whilst it won’t be quite the same, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Happy reading!
