WEEKLY UPDATES: GREAT BOOKS!

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon and The Sunday Post for weekly updates.

Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

What a great week!  Even though I also did some viewing, I managed to read and review three books and write five blog posts.  The absence of outings probably helped push me through more reading.

I did start watching a show that I loved and saw a few years ago:  Mad Men.  And I’m realizing that, after a few years, it feels almost new again.  I do binge too much, but I time myself, and picked up my books more often.  I am watching it on Amazon Prime.

My eldest son is planning a trip here in September or October, and I am eager to do a little more furniture shopping.  What?  Yes, I need a sofa bed for guests.  I have enlisted my granddaughter to take me around to the shops, as I do not want to order this online.

So…we shall see what happens.

Now…let’s grab something to drink and take a closer look at my week.

That was my week.  What did yours look like?  I am enjoying my tree of handbags as I write this post.

  1. Oh yeah, you definitely need to buy sofa beds in person! There are so many uncomfortable ones out there and you won’t know if the one you want is comfortable unless you can try it out!

I should go back and give Mad Men another try. I watched the first season a while ago, but it just didn’t stick with me. So many people love it that I might have better luck on a second viewing.

    Have a great week!

Your tree of handbags looks like it comes in handy. We’ve been watching The Staircase series with Colin Firth and Toni Collette. It’s a bit odd a crime mystery but still have to finish. We never watched Mad Men … which is crazy. I hope you enjoy it again.

  3. Sounds like a really good week and getting a sofa bed is a really handy item to have and does leave you open to having guests. I need one too but will see. My second bedroom is given over to quilting but I could probably sort out one in the lounge.

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, I loved having a sofa bed at my previous apartment (before the “prison,” lol), and it served nicely in my office. Now I will have to set one up in the living room, as I only have the one bedroom. But that will work, too.

  4. That’s awesome about your son visiting! Good luck finding a sofa. I want a small recliner or reading chair and I’ve found several I really like online but it’s hard to shop furniture without seeing it. Have a wonderful week!

    1. Thanks, Katherine, at first I was thinking of those chairs that turn into beds, but my eldest son is really tall and reminded me that it probably wouldn’t be comfortable. I should take a big person with me to check it out for comfort.

I hope the shops have a good selection!

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Cindy, I have collected handbags for a while, although when I moved in 2019, the bags were whittled down. No worries. I quickly added to the tree.

I was happy to have a better reading week…but the upcoming one will probably be slower, especially if I go out and do some shopping.

      Enjoy your week.

  5. That’s great that your son is coming to visit! Glad you had a nice week as well. I like the look of the Megan Miranda book. I’ve only read one of hers but always wanted to read more…

    Have an awesome week!

I’ll admit, I haven’t watched Mad Men. But I understand how much fun it can be to rewatch a favorite show – especially one you haven’t watched in a few years – and get caught up in it all over again.

Great job balancing the show and reading time.

  7. Good luck with the sofa! I agree with you, I would not want to shop online for this.

I added The Last To Vanish to my shelf this week too. I have enjoyed the other books I’ve read by Megan Miranda so I am looking forward to it.

    Have a great week!
