Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon and The Sunday Post for weekly updates.

Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

It was another great week of reading, an outing, and viewing.  I had lunch with my granddaughter and her boyfriend at a favorite Mexican restaurant.  Back at my place, Fiona found my little Christmas tree in the closet and it is now showing itself on my Coca Cola dining table. My blog posts were skimpy, though; only four.  Today I am doing laundry and reading.

For those who enjoy the First Book of the Year, it is coming again, and is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.  I have selected mine and sent my photo to Sheila!

Let’s take a closer look at my week.

  1. Aw I love the tree on your table! Goes well with it. 🙂

Can you believe Christmas is next weekend???

Your Megan Goldin book looks good. I think I’ve read one of hers…

    Anyway have a super weekend.

    I love Mexican

  2. A very good week, I need to pick out my first book of the year. I see in the photo I read a quilt book by Mary Marks at the beginning of this year. Good on Fiona for getting out the Christmas tree. You are blessed.

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, it is hard to believe we are already at the First Book of the Year! Luckily, I already had a book that will serve nicely.

I do feel blessed to have Fiona around, although she is often so busy. She just moved up to China Peak, two hours away at a ski resort, so she will be less available for a while!

      Enjoy picking your book!

  3. So great you’re in your new apartment for Christmas this year. I love that you had lunch out with your granddaughter and BF. I haven’t had much time for reading or blogging lately so the Mailbox Monday meme is keeping me in the game. This week the goal is to pick my first book of 2022 and send to Sheila.

    1. Thanks, Mary, I am very grateful to have my new apartment and enjoy all that goes with it: washer dryer, lots of cabinets, more space, etc.

My lunch with my granddaughter and BF was so great…although they are both working at China Peak Ski Resort, two hours away, so they won’t be as available in the coming months.

I hope you find a great book to read for the first one of the year.

Coke and Christmas. As on your table: a constant pair for over 90 years! I just looked up the old Coke ads which will be on my blog tomorrow.

    1. Thanks, Trin, my little tree is getting crushed from being stored all year! LOL

      But I still love it.

I used to display three miniature trees, but the other two got left behind at the previous residence three years ago.

Say hello to your family, too.

  5. Ugh must Fiona be so cute? I want to be her in my next life.

    Mmm Mexican fooooooods.

I’m hoping I can get my cat to pose with me for the First Book of the Year. I love the photos where people are with their pets. lol

The little tree looks cute on that table.

    1. Thanks, Anne, ever since my gall bladder surgery, I have been unable to eat all the ingredients of the Mexican food, but I carefully pick them.

I hope you love The Last House on the Street. I thought it was awesome.

  6. I’m so glad you were able to have lunch with your granddaughter and boyfriend! The little tree is adorable.

I have heard so many good things about Oh William. I hope you are enjoying it.

    Have a Merry Christmas!

  7. Stay Awake looks really good. I love Mexican food. We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant this week and it was delicious.

I love what you are doing with your new place. It all looks wonderful! Have a Merry Christmas and a great week!

I hope you had a nice big Margarita at the restaurant. The novel about Lucy Mercer looks good. I’ve read about her a bit in other books. Their affair must have been a doozy at the time. The Strout book grew on me by the end, but it took me awhile at first to get into it. Have a great week.

    1. Thanks, Nise, I am eager to read my selected book, which I have had for a while…but just hadn’t started yet. Now I know I must have been waiting for this event!

Enjoy picking yours. And Mexican…just talking about it makes me want to go again.

    1. Thanks, Anne, I haven’t even read Olive Kitteridge, which I must read before Olive, Again…I think. I saw the miniseries years ago.

I wasn’t sure about Oh William, but now I am so glad I read it.

I had a miniature tree on my Coca Cola dining set (in my previous apartment three years ago) and it feels like home again.

    1. Thanks, Carole, I do love putting together things that seem connected, like the Coca Cola dining table with a Christmas tree that has matching ornaments (and other vintage items).

I am drooling for Mexican food again!

    1. Thanks, Katherine, I am so glad that I finally found a replacement Coca Cola table in time for my Christmas tree to stand on it!

I wish I could have Mexican food more often! I was thinking about it again last night…but transportation is an issue for me still. Sigh.

      Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Cindy, I love the First Book event and have been participating in it since 2014! I look forward to it every year now.

I love spending time with my granddaughter, and will probably see her less in the upcoming weeks because she is working at a ski resort two hours away. Sigh.

      Have a great holiday!

  10. It looks like you had a wonderful time with your granddaughter and her boyfriend. Fun!

I am so curious to see what you think of Oh William. Sadly, my copy arrived during Nonfiction November and I didn’t get time to read it before I had to send it back.

Christmas Dessert Murder sounds great, too.

  11. The tree looks lovely on your table. We may end up with a little tree this year. We’ll have to put up something with the grandchildren visiting. 🙂
Glad you had a nice visit with your granddaughter and her boyfriend. I like Mexican food too.
Enjoy your new books. Merry Christmas and Happy Reading!

    1. Thanks, Martha, I like an easy decorating system nowadays, so the small trees work best. I now have only one here…but a few years ago, I put out three.

I am feeling the need for Mexican food again!

      Merry Christmas.
