WEEKLY UPDATES: A GREAT WEEK…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon and The Sunday Post for weekly updates.

Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

A great week, with three books read and reviewed and seven blog posts written.  This morning I finished reading the third book, after I accidentally woke up at 3:00 a.m.!  How did that happen?

I had outings this week, beginning with brunch at Mimi’s with Fiona…and a visit to the AT&T phone store, where I upgraded my iPhone.  Finally, after six years.  Fiona also assembled my vacuum cleaner.  And vacuumed my rugs!

Afterwards, I was ready to settle onto my couch and read!  I also enjoyed viewing episodes of Nine Perfect Strangers on Hulu and the whole first season of Big Sky.

Now let’s take a closer look at my week.

  3. Ooo I am glad you were able to enjoy some trips out this last week and finally got that vacuum set up! Our new vacuum has arrived too, but my dad hasn’t opened it yet! I returned to work this week and as I got back into the routine of it, I haven’t been able to do much else! Take care and happy reading! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Jessica, I was so happy to have a day of outings and vacuuming! Today I’m doing laundry, which I love to do now since I have the convenience of my washer and dryer in the bathroom!

I want to order “picnic” food today, like potato salad, etc., even though the picnic will be here at home…with my reading and viewing. Enjoy your week!

    1. Ooh, A. J. I would hate waking up that early every day, but I do usually wake up at 4:30 or 5:00…habit, from when I was working. Even though it has been sixteen years since I retired!

Our bodies get in a groove, I think.

Enjoy your week…and it is nice and quiet in the early morning hours.

  4. Wow, you got a lot accomplished this week. Glad you got to spend time with Fiona, too. Must be a relief that she was able to get that vacuum put together… and the bonus points for using it, lol! I’ll keep an eye out for your thoughts on The Good Son. I love reading about the Kennedys. Have a good week!

    1. Thanks, JoAnn, I will be happily reading Kennedy books as long as there are any out there.

I feel grateful that I have Fiona around to help out, even though she is very busy. It makes our time together more special.

Nine Perfect Strangers looks really interesting! I’d like to hear some reactions on it before diving in. Nice to hear you enjoyed your brunch at Mimi’s! I just started the audio of A Slow Fire Burning and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. I think I’m beginning to figure out that I’m more of a crime procedural mystery fan than psychological mystery person, and I think it falls into the latter category. We’ll see. Happy reading, Laurel!

  8. We’ve been eating picnic salads and food from the grill all this week, although we didn’t host or attend any cookouts for Labor Day weekend. We had a visit from our daughters, which was nice, and I visited my mother, but the pandemic has really killed any desire in me to host a large gathering. When we finally can again, we’ll all be out of the habit!
I suppose I’ll end up reading (or probably listening to) A Slow Fire Burning, but I’m not in the mood yet for high-anxiety psychological thrillers!

    1. Ha-ha, and thanks, Emma. I have a system for making review writing easier: I set up my Word document with the description from the product page, and then add things as I go along in my reading. By the time I’m finished, it’s almost done. Then I tweak it a bit. Enjoy!

  9. What a great week you had, Laurel! It’s a joy to get to enjoy a meal out, isn’t it? And your granddaughter put together your vacuum cleaner? Wonderful.

I’ve found that Paula Hawkins books are always intense. Hope you enjoy this one.

Can’t wait to see your new table and chairs!

    1. Thanks, Deb, I so enjoyed the outing with Fiona, and love that she is so helpful, despite her busy schedule.

I really enjoyed the new Paula Hawkins book.

I hope the Coca Cola table arrives tomorrow. The chairs will follow shortly afterwards, I think.

      Enjoy your week!
