MUSING MONDAYS — JAN. 10

MUSING KITTY

Good morning, and welcome to another edition of Musing Mondays, hosted by Should Be Reading.

Today’s Question:

Where is your favorite place to find new books to read? Blogs? The library? Newspapers? Magazines? In the backs of other books? Suggestions from friends/family? Online bookstores? On the shelves of the local bookstores? (I don’t necessarily mean, ‘where do you find books to buy’ — I mean, ‘where do you discover new titles that you add to your to-be-read lists’?).

Wow!  I like this one, since it offers a whole range of options.  And I would probably say “all of the above.”  As I blog, I make note of books that catch my eye.  When I’m browsing the Amazon store, I might just click and buy based on the cover, the synopsis, and the author’s name.  If I’ve read other books by an author, I will jump at the chance to discover a new one.

Bookstores…but not as often these days.  But if I’ve received a coupon from Barnes & Noble, for example, I’ll check it out.  Especially if a title that sounds/looks familiar, or an author I’ve loved is on the list.

Because I’m trying to curb my book buying (huge TBRs!), I’m more likely to just add books to my list.  And then, sometimes, I’ll get my Amazon Vine newsletter and find one of those books offered.  I like when that happens!

How about the rest of you?  What draws you in and captures your book lust?  Hope you’ll stop by and share.

  1. The library is my best friend. I had to curb the book buying habit too – just no space, so now I only buy books by a few favorite authors that I might want to re-read.

  2. I have found so many interesting books by reading all the book blogs. I think their reviews are more honest then the ones in magazines, NY Times list of the top 10. I’ve gotten stung to many times by thinking one of the top ten would be good. I just quit reading their top 10 list. I am making it my goal this year to read more library books.

Thanks for always visiting My Reading Corner and leaving such nice and encouraging comments.
