Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
A great week! I read and reviewed three books, all of which I enjoyed; I wrote five blog posts; and I immersed myself in the Inauguration Day activities.
The Queen’s Gambit is on my Netflix queue, and even though I don’t really watch chess, I am intrigued by this show.
Let’s grab some coffee and take a look at the details of the week.

That was my week! I did enjoy all of my books…and especially felt the relief that came on January 20 with the Inauguration. Here is a shot of #46 signing some executive orders to help our beleaguered country during these difficult times.

Nice looking books. I think the one about Kamala would be so good.
I agree with your thoughts on President Biden.
Time for our country to get back on track..
Have a great weekend!

Thanks, Kathryn, I feel such joy about the inauguration, too! Especially that we got through it without further violence.
I am eager to read the book about Kamala.

I’m so happy all this political nightmare is over. Now it’s time to get our country back on track and moving forward.
That Kamala book looks interesting. I wonder if she will eventually write a memoir about her experience as VP?

I haven’t seen The Queen’s Gambit, but I’m very tempted. I keep hearing good things about it. Kamala’s Way sounds interesting. I just put in an order for her memoir with my local indie tonight along with a Who is Kamala Harris? book for my daughter. I hope you enjoy all your new books!
I was able to watch the Inauguration and teared up so many times. I feel like a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I think many of us feel that way, don’t we?
I hope you have a great week!

Thanks, Wendy, I also teared up throughout Inauguration Day, and periodically through this whole week. I also realized that the heavy weight on my shoulders is gone, too.
Enjoy your week!

The new Lisa Gardner, I want it, I’ll have it next week and can’t wait to start reading it !! I’m not much into chess – in fact, not at all- but I really did love The queen’s gambit, it was original and the actress did a wonderful job, the atmosphere and lighting was excellent too. Have a great week 🙂

Even though it isn’t my country, I was so relieved to see the Inauguration go off peacefully. And a bit bemused that the outgoing President apparently couldn’t see that his behaviour simply smacks of being a very sore loser.
I also have The Queen’s Gambit in my To Be Watched queue – my son highly recommends it. And I hope the coming week is one where you can relax and enjoy your books and TV a bit more, Laurel:)).

Thanks, Sarah, and unfortunately for our Country—and even the rest of the world—the behavior of that Narcissist in Chief…and Sore Loser…affected a lot of people.
I like that I began watching The Queen’s Gambit, and I hope to keep loving it.
Have a great week!

I really need to get back to The Queen’s Gambit! I started watching it a few months ago, and then The Crown came out and I switched to that, and I just haven’t switched back yet. Lately, though, I haven’t been that interested in watching much TV (other than the Inauguration–and the whole family is sucked into WandaVision).

I watched the inauguration for hours! I felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders as soon as Biden and Harris were sworn in. Rational adults are in charge again. I may not agree with every decision they make over their term, but at least I’ll know those decisions have been thoughtfully made instead of just being knee-jerk lies and temper tantrums.
Enjoy your week!

Great post Laurel. I’m glad you had 3 good reads last week. I’d like to get to The Push though it looks a bit intense — was the Wife Upstairs better? The U.S. feels so much better these days … with an adult in charge of the gov’t. Biden is off to a good start! But the GOP is still killing us, still beholden to the ex-loser in chief.
We enjoyed The Queen’s Gambit … though I have no interest in chess either … but the story & character is good! The Kamala book looks good too … enjoy your week!

Thanks, Susan, I don’t think we’ll ever separate the GOP from Trumpism! So disgusting.
I am glad I enjoyed The Queen’s Gambit…
I loved both The Wife Upstairs and The Push…but I think The Push won out a little bit.
I am definitely happy about having adults in the WH….and truth-tellers running things.
