IT’S TIME FOR COFFEE….AND BOOKISH/NOT SO BOOKISH THOUGHTS….

Good morning!  It’s time for Coffee Morning and Bookish/Not So Bookish Thoughts.  Click on over to Bookishly Boisterous.

  • Last night I watched the first episode of Broadchurch – Season Three!  I saw the first two seasons on Netflix, but BBC-America is bringing us the third season.  And maybe all the seasons started there first, but I only discovered the show on Netflix.
  • Does anyone watch Younger?  I started it as a lark, but found myself tuning in regularly.  I haven’t watched last night’s episode yet…it’s on my DVR.  I fell asleep!
  • This week has been an awesome reading one!  As I look at my titles, I think I see why….not a thriller among them!  One cozy mystery, one memoir, and one family drama/women’s fiction.  I guess I needed a bit of a switcheroo.  But no worries, I’ll be back to the thrillers in no time.  So far, I read and reviewed The Sunshine Sisters, Watching the Detectives, and Talking as Fast as I can. (Click for my reviews).
  • Currently reading two books:  Any Day Now, by Robyn Carr; and What Remains, by Carole Radziwill.

  • The whole week is going to be a departure from my usual reads, but I like the idea of changing things up a bit.
  • What does today hold for me?  I haven’t been anywhere this week (it has been too hot!), except one brief trip to the supermarket on Tuesday (I think…).  When I stay home, all the days blur together.  These “memes” are the only thing distinguishing one day from the next.
  • Is that sad, or what?  A daily routine that focuses on what is happening online?  LOL.
  • Of course, there is reading time…and TV watching…and I exchanged text messages with my daughter yesterday.  She is ordering my “new” hair color, the kind that won’t bring out a rash…hopefully.  We are both nervous.
  • Fourth of July is coming…and it’s on a Tuesday.  Maybe we’ll celebrate on the weekend.  No, that won’t work!  Fireworks!

So…that’s my world this week…what about yours?

LET’S SHARE SOME COFFEE & PHOTOS….

What a beautiful spring morning we are having here!  I’m not going out to the patio with my laptop yet, since the “fresh” air brings out the itching, sneezing, etc., no matter what pills I take.

So it’s Coffee Morning inside, next to my books and Disney characters, and with my laptop.  Check in with Christine’s Bookishly Boisterous Post, and Saturday Snapshots this weekend.

My collection of photos of grandchildren has been growing, along with some of grand-nieces and nephews.  Today I’m sharing a few of the “girls.”  Below, Aubrey, one of my granddaughters, hanging out with three of her friends.  She is a sophomore at San Diego State University, and is second from the left.  She is into sports, both watching and participating.

On the other end of the age spectrum, little Miss Margaret, my grand-niece, is taking care of her dolls.  Her mother is my niece Emily.

Now she is testing out the kitchen…

Satisfied by her investigation, she sits back to bask in her discoveries…

Now…moving on to another part of the state and another family of “nieces,” check out Amy (my niece)  and her daughter America enjoying a “girl day.”

America’s “pedi”….she looks like she is totally relaxed.

MONDAY MORNING COFFEE: MY INTERIOR WORLD

Bookish World & Coffee - 516

Good morning!  It’s Monday, so let’s grab some coffee and chat about the weekend, our plans for the upcoming week…etc.  I’m not mimicking Sheila’s Coffee with Bloggers, as I’m just doing my own thing here, reflecting, sipping, and planning.

I watched the complete Season II of Bloodline this weekend (there were only 10 episodes, but still…).  Wow, that ending!  Okay, no spoilers here, but I didn’t see that coming.  But then again, those Rayburns are unpredictable.

First of all, let me just say that I was feeling the darkness that hovered over them all, as they tried so hard to bury their secrets, but things kept popping up.  Unexpected things.

I realized, too, that I don’t like any of the Rayburn offspring any more.  Not a one of them, and I didn’t feel that way in Season I, or they have deteriorated.  Secret-keeping can do that, of course.

But I will definitely be back for Season III.  There has to be a third season, of course.

Have you seen the show?  What are your thoughts?

Meanwhile, I finished reading The Girls in the Garden (click for my review), by Lisa Jewell.  Loved it!    Picture an idyllic setting, with a communal garden, and then imagine creepy characters and weird teenagers.

Imagine my weekend, moving back and forth between my book and Netflix.

Today I’m reading Ink and Bone, by Lisa Unger (all those Lisas!), and I know that I will be immersed in it before the morning is over.

Eerie setting (The Hollows), filled with interesting characters and lots of psychic events.

So…my morning will be full, and by afternoon, I plan to take my book “off site,” perhaps to the bookstore…or back to one of my favorite restaurants, like where I had this soup and margarita on Saturday (California Pizza Kitchen).

COFFEE MORNING: INDOORS & OUT

may 24 another look at the patio

Good morning!  My Interior World looks promising today.  Just outdoors, on my newly cleaned patio ( I did promise to do that!), I am enjoying the cool air of morning as I sip my coffee.

Today is Tuesday Intros/Teasers, and I’m eager to read the book I’m sharing today.  Blood Defense, by Marcia Clark, is the first in a new series featuring Samantha Brinkman.

Yesterday was a hectic day, with little time for reading.  My DMV tags are up for renewal, and I had to get the smog check done.  Luckily, that didn’t take too long; I barely had time to start reading Breakdown, by Jonathan Kellerman.

Next, I was off to the Office Max to pick up a new wireless mouse.  Mine stopped working!

Grocery shopping came after, and as I struggled home with the flimsy plastic bags provided by the store, I reminded myself—again—that I needed to get something sturdier.

So imagine my surprise (and pleasure) to find just what I need on Amazon Vine!

While I was studying the Vine newsletter, of course I had to check out some books…and found one featured today in Lakeside Musings Tuesday Intro!

Tuesday Nights in 1980, by Molly Prentiss, has been beckoning to me for a while.  Of course I requested it!

Lately, I’ve spent time in the 1970s, the 1920s, and now the 80s are coming to me!

Meanwhile, last night, I finished Season III of The Killing...with only six episodes in Season IV, I am sure to finish it tonight.  I have loved the unexpected twists….

Now I am back indoors, in my little nook, having an OJ…with a shot of Brandy.  Yikes!  Did I just admit that?
