What a rainy week we had!  We haven’t had flooding here, although some of the streets might be a bit full of water.  I haven’t been out at all.  My patio furniture keeps falling down, but so far, nothing is broken.  I enjoyed reading my two books and I wrote four blog posts.  I did a little viewing, like an old favorite British series called Last Tango in Halifax.  I like seeing shows and movies over again.

I am not sure what I’ll be reading next.  I started a couple of books on my Kindle, and for some reason, nothing really grabbed me.  Perhaps I’ll start one of the books on my hardcover stack.

Grab some coffee and take a closer peek at my week.

That was my week.  Today is another rainy one.  Yesterday was so nice and I was able to walk outside for a bit.  Not today.  Sigh.  I’m cleaning and doing laundry.  I have ordered more things from Amazon.  The Pandemic turned me into a “hoarder” of supplies, even though there aren’t the same shortages now.  I feel good having more than I might need, as having to order things means there is a slight delay before I can tuck them away in my cabinets.  A habit that will be hard to break.

We are having another family get-together next weekend.  Yay!

What has your week brought?

  1. With the way things go out of stock and all the supply chain issues having extra supplies isn’t a bad idea! I tend to stock up too. Enjoy your new reads. Just the Nicest Couple looks really good. Have a wonderful week.

    1. Thanks, Mary, I think my habits definitely changed during the Pandemic, mostly out of necessity, and now I feel more comfortable stocking up. Luckily my current apartment has lots of cabinets.

      Enjoy your week!

We have gotten a lot of rain here today, especially today. I think it’s supposed to continue for the next couple days. I hope one of your books grabs you soon. I hope you have a fun time next weekend with your family! Have a great week, Laurel-Rain. Hopefully the rain will let up in your part of the state soon.

    1. Thanks, Wendy, I am definitely hoping for the rain to slow down or even stop, but I don’t want the drought to take over again either.

I am eager to resume more family time, and I hope my books grab me soon! Enjoy your week.

I didn’t see any flooding this week in my town personally, although I saw some pictures. Definitely glad I can work from home so I avoid all that craziness when it storms. And I love rain when I can just watch it fall.

    1. Thanks, Greg, I have really been enjoying the ongoing family times. We lost a lot during the Pandemic, so we’re kind of making up for it.

Enjoy your week. I really enjoyed the Brit series, and now I want to watch more of them.

    1. Thanks, Erin, before the Pandemic and when I still had a car, I didn’t stock up much. The store was just down on the corner. But everything has changed. I actually prefer ordering online these days!

I really enjoyed Last Tango in Halifax. A lovely Brit Box series.

      1. I order online now too – I will never go back to full grocery shopping in a store. LOL. It is so much easier. I can order at night in my pajamas while watching tv and drinking wine or tea, nothing can beat that. I didn’t stock up at all either. Now, I think I just got in the habit and I liked having extra on hand.

  4. We are expecting more rain later this week also. I’m so sick of it. Though it could be worse for us. I feel for the people in California.
I had a pantry added to my home during the pandemic and keep it stocked with cans of things that I use a lot of. It was awful not being about to get things and who knows if it will happen again.
I enjoy Just The Nicest Couple and want to read Spare. I’ll have to grab a copy. I look forward to your thoughts on each.
    Have a wonderful week!!

    1. Thanks, Linda, I live in Central California, and we haven’t had much flooding, which makes me feel relief. But who knows what will happen next?

I moved into this apartment at the end of the Pandemic (or is it even over yet?), and I’m happy to have lots of cabinets and a nearby delivery service.

I loved Just the Nicest Couple…and hope to read Spare soon. Enjoy your week.

  5. Nice to meet you Laurel! I’m from Vancouver so definitely get being tired of rain (although we have had a lovely weekend). I’ve started to become a bit of hoarder too as for some reason our store shelves here are empty of common items (recently eggs and yogurt to name a few). I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

    1. Thanks, Jodie, I haven’t actually been inside a store to shop since the Pandemic, but I remember the panic I felt when I first saw those empty shelves.

Amazon and delivery grocery shopping are my friends these days.

      Enjoy your week!

  6. Good that rain is not too heavy near you – I even heard a podcaster in southern California saying it was raining there. Climate is so strange. Yay for The Spare. I think it will be good to read on Kindle as I have the hardback and its hard to hold! And print is quite small, heaps of reading in it.

  7. We’ve had a lot of rain too, although not as much as you’ve had and we’re pretty used to rain. It just gets so *tiring* after a while! I’m glad that you have had a least one day where you could get outside without washing away. Have a great week!

  8. Glad to hear the rain didn’t cause flooding or damage for you! Here we had a lot of snow, but nothing too bad either.

I want to read the new Mary Kubica, it sounds good to me. Have a great week and happy reading!

I have always been a fan of stocking up. It’s learned behavior from parents, especially my mother, who had a childhood where whether or not there was dinner depended on what her dad was able to bring home. I’m curious about Spare but haven’t bought a copy yet. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  10. My husband is the family shopper and had always kept us well “stocked up” on things, or so I thought until I realized the level some people went to during the pandemic! My goal this month is to use our stock up; some of it is reaching its expiration or best-by date.
We had our first actual snow today — mid-January, not bad — but otherwise, had a lot of rain, too.
That’s a great family photo at the end of your post!

    1. Thanks, Laurie, stocking up on products involves a delicate balance between between selfish and ignoring the needs of others and meeting our own supply needs. I try to do that. Sounds like you do, too.

I loved creating that family photo. My kids and I have been taking a photo at that sculpture every few years since 1979.

  11. So you got a copy of Spare. Too bad Harry is fighting with his brother. I feel it’s a shame and don’t support airing so much dirty laundry.
I hope it stops raining so much where you are … waterlogged! Enjoy your family gathering. Sounds fun.

    1. Thanks, Susan, it is sad that members of a family, even the royals, have to fight and turn their backs on one another. I do enjoy learning a little more about their issues in these books.

I am so excited about another upcoming family outing.

  12. My husband always kept our supplies well stacked. I had to give away excess food supplies (that would have gone bad) and haven’t yet had to refill paper supplies.
Your rainy image is very cute.
I hope you find a book you can jump into.
Have a good week, stay dry, and Happy Reading!
