What a week!  I read and reviewed four books, which is more than usual.  I only wrote four blog posts, however.

I spent time viewing old and new movies, and one of the old ones was based on books I have enjoyed by the author of one I read this week:  V.I. Warshawski.  I saw it on HBO Max.  The author, Sara Paretsky, is one of my favorites, and the movie is one I have seen a few times, starring Kathleen Turner.

I had no outings this week, but did get my usual slew of packages from Amazon, mostly supplies.  I did add another birdhouse to complete a trio on the patio.  The one on the left is the newest.

Let’s grab something to drink and take a closer look at my week.

  1. I read a review by NZ blogger who enjoyed The Hotel Nantucket so its on my radar to read. Must see if I can reserve it at the library. So hmm, I can see bird house collection developing! Nice to match a movie to your reading. Hope coming week is great.

    1. Four books is an achievement! And I love the flower birdhouse. We keep looking at different houses, but we have very little plants as our garden is basically concrete. The concrete goes down a long way too. There are also a lot of cats in the area. We shall see.

      Have a great week!

  2. The Hotel Nantucket is getting good reviews so I’ll put that on my wish list. The author can be hit or miss with me so I usually hold off on reading for a while.
I love the birdhouses. Will any birds inhabit them or they strictly decor? Either way, I like them 😊

    1. Thanks, Mary, so far, I’m not loving The Hotel Nantucket! I hope that changes soon. It seems to jump around a lot. But maybe I will immerse myself in it soon.

My birdhouses are mostly decorative. I used to only have them IN the house….but I like them on the patio. Enjoy your week.

Speaking of old movies, we’ve been talking a lot about “Never Ending Story” in Improv. Most are so enthusiastic about this movie that can recall every character and unique scenes.I hope you stay cool.

  4. Oh how I remember that pink suit! I bet I’d like this book.I love to read about Jackie Kennedy and have read several biographies and watched at least two documentaries about her.She was my “ideal woman” in high school.

    1. Thanks, Melinda, I only like outings that don’t involve appointments! I have an appointment tomorrow at the doctor’s to have a skin condition checked. Not the kind of outing I like!

I am enjoying the birdhouses. Have a great week.

    1. Thanks, Elizabeth, I am wondering if I will keep adding to the birdhouse collection, LOL.

No art in The Lying Wife, just family issues and lots of lying! That is a great cover, though.

      Enjoy your week.

  5. I love the collection of bird houses:)). We are considering adding a few to the jungle we laughingly call a garden, which has gone feral since I became ill. We certainly have lots of cover! I must track down the film V.I. Warshawski – I really enjoy the actress and somehow have managed to miss seeing it. I’ve just finished watching the TV adaptation of The Time Traveler’s Wife, which I thought was outstanding, though wrenchingly sad in places…

    1. Thanks, Sarah, I hope you enjoy the V.I. Warshawski movie…and some books, too.

Birdhouses are a fun collection for me, although I used to only add them to the interior of my house.

I like them on the patio now!

  6. I just heard a little about The Pink Suit from our book blogging friend, Mareli, from South Africa. I had no idea it would be available here in the US, too.

Your new birdhouse is lovely. I’ve never had a birdhouse, though I have a half dozen bird feeders.

    Have a great week!

  7. I love the cover of The Pink Suit. I love clothes from that era, and love wearing them if I have an excuse, though I wouldn’t like all the underpinnings 🙂

You did have a great reading week–two 5-stars and two 4-stars! Wow!

    You birdhouses are beautiful.

    Enjoy your week!

  8. Good job on the four books and the ratings look like they were good for you. I remember enjoying some of the V.I. series. That Pink Suit cover is interesting.
I do like the birdhouses – they are charming. Have a good week and Happy Reading!

  9. Cute birdhouses. Do birds actually go inside them? Do you have to DO anything to a birdhouse to make a bird want to go inside or do you just put one outside and they get in it all on their own? Last year I kept seeing birds flying around my neighbor’s porch across the road so I got out the binoculars to see what was up and discovered they had two bird houses and bluebirds were coming and going from them. I watched them until my eyes could stand it no more and my arms were about to fall off from holding those heavy binocs. Ha ha.

I love the character V.I. Warshawski. I have only read one book in the series, which I would like to read again at some point because it’s been so long. What lovely birdhouses! I hope you have a great weekend, Laurel-Rain, and a great week ahead!
