Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon and The Sunday Post for weekly updates.

Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

I enjoyed reading and reviewing two books…and I spent some time viewing movies: an old one, The Goodbye Girl, on HBO Max, and a new one, Jerry and Marge Go Large, starring Annette Bening and Bryan Cranston, on Paramount Plus. My six blog posts took us to bookish places…and in one of them, revealed how a gusty wind took down my little patio umbrella!

Now I will be shopping for a sturdier stand-alone version.

Let’s take a closer look at my week:

The House Across the Lake, by Riley Sager – (Currently Reading)

That was my week.  A pretty good one, although I didn’t get to enjoy any outings.  I did order another handbag, on its way to me tomorrow.

    1. Thanks, Deb, I will probably get a free standing umbrella that is sturdy. All the strong umbrellas in patios around mine are still standing, LOL.

I have a thing for purses!

Looking forward to loving The House Across the Lake.

  1. Those umbrellas can really go flying! 🙂 Mine almost blew away recently as well. I like the look of the Riley sager book. I’ve been wanting to try that author…

    Hope your weekend is fabulous.

    1. Thanks, Greg, I hope to buy a sturdy one with a base that holds it in place. I don’t know what I was thinking with the one I bought!

I enjoy Riley Sager, so I’m loving the book so far. Have a great week.

  2. Oh no, sorry to hear about your umbrella! I hope you are able to find a sturdier, stand alone one to replace it. ⛱ I also hope you will enjoy your new handbag! I had a bit of a shopping spree recently too, as my favourite online clothes shop had a great discount. 🛍

Take care and happy reading. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Jessica, ever since the Pandemic began, I started collecting more handbags and outfits. Not shoes, though. I can’t order those online, since I need to try them on.

I can buy outfits online, though, which is fortunate.

Have a fun spree…and enjoy your books.

      1. I have a thing for Radley handbags, however I haven’t bought one in years, no point when you have a toddler so the only bag that will do is a massive changing bag!

Fingers crossed on your quest for a new one!

        You too 🙂

  3. Good luck finding a new umbrella, Laurel. I love sitting on the patio under ours but it’s starting to show signs of wear and tear. I’ll probably replace it after the season this year. Looking forward to your thoughts on the Riley Sager book!

  4. Hope you find just the right patio umbrella. They vary so much in size, durability, etc. that it can be hard to figure it out when ordering online – good luck. I remember loving The Goodbye Girl way back when. Wonder if it’s on Netflix now… Have a good week!

    1. Thanks, JoAnn, I prefer buying items in the shops, but so many of my favorite stores have gone out of business or they are only offering things online. Sigh. I am going to try one more place that I once used, and after I had talked to the sales person on the phone, I felt hopeful that I might find something!

I loved watching The Goodbye Girl again! The music alone pulled me in…and a young Richard Dreyfuss is so much fun!

      Enjoy your week.

  5. It is hard to keep a patio umbrella in good shape. Ours took flight across the yard and bent a section. It still works but it has been lopsided for years. I like your new bag. Have a great week!

  6. What a beautiful handbag! The Riley Sager book is on my TBR. It looks like a good read! So sorry about the patio umbrella. I’ve had that happen when I wasn’t fast enough to get out there and take it down. It’s no fun. Hope you’re having a great week!
