Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon and The Sunday Post for weekly updates.
Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
This week I read and reviewed two books…and I wrote eight blog posts. The books I read were more lengthy than usual: 464 and 675 pages!
I am still watching Dopesick, on Hulu. Enjoying it! And I began watching Seeing Allred on Netflix.
After my wonderful birthday week, I had more outings: a dental appointment, my booster shot, and another birthday lunch. I am sated with outside stuff! I am also still awaiting orders from Amazon.
Today I plan to stay home, read some more, and do a little cleaning.
For now let’s take a closer look at my week.
***
Monthly Wrap-Up: Hello, November!
Tuesday Excerpts: “I Know You”
Tuesday Potpourri: Books, Books, Books…
Coffee Chat: More Birthday Stuff…
Review: The Unheard, by Nicci French
Review: Crossroads, by Jonathan Franzen
***
INCOMING BOOKS:
Her Perfect Family, by Teresa Driscoll – a book I downloaded onto my other Kindle in early October…and forgot about!
A gripping psychological thriller from the bestselling author of I Am Watching You. The perfect family? Or the perfect lie?
***
CURRENTLY READING:
I Know You, by Claire McGowan
In this tense thriller from the bestselling author of What You Did and The Other Wife, a woman finds a dead body. Will she make the same mistake as last time?

That was my week. What did yours look like? Enjoyed lunch at Sal’s on Monday.

wWow 674 pages is a big book for sure. When you’ve been out and about time at home can then be savoured. Hope you are enjoying your present book.

Thanks, Kathryn, after that hefty book, it was nice to sit down with a thriller (I Know You) that I already finished since the pages flew by!

Sounds like a great week and so glad you had a good birthday! And you had a seriously productive week! I’m impressed with your page count. I like the look of I Know You. I need to get a thriller into my reading soon. Have a great week!

Thanks, Katherine, I preferred reading I Know You, as it was a fast-paced thriller that I’ve already finished!

Ooh Sal’s looks like my kind of place. 🙂
Both your thrillers look great. Claire McGowan’s and the other one both sound excellent.

Thanks, Greg, I love eating at Sal’s; it is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area.
As for Claire McGowan’s thriller, it was so good that I’ve already finished it!

Wow, well done on writing 8 blog posts and reading two looong books! 👏 Mine has been a quiet week on the blog, as I have been tired from trying to get used to my new class, room and timetable at work. However I have enjoyed reading the vintage thriller The Land God Gave to Cain by Hammond Innes. Take care and happy reading in the coming week. 🙂

Thanks, Jessica, I plan to read shorter books next! I finished one yesterday, with 348 pages…it was so fast-paced and good that I hardly moved throughout the day!
Enjoy your week.

The Franzen is on my “read at some point” list so I appreciate your thoughts on it. Have a good week, Laurel!

Thanks, Mary, I’m glad I read the Franzen, but it lagged too much for me, sigh. So reading it at some point is probably a good idea. Enjoy your week.

Great thrillers here. I started a thriller by Nicci French but it was interesting because it was reading like contemporary and I must have turned to the cover to make sure what I was reading.

Thanks, Anne, I just met a neighbor who has a car and invited me to ride along next time she goes. I hope that isn’t a mistake! LOL
You never know what kind of driver you’ll get.

I’m not sure what it is lately, but it seems like several authors I enjoy are publishing longer and longer books! I wonder if editors don’t feel comfortable editing them once they become successful? Glad you had such a good week!

Thanks, JoAnn, and Franzen has always been a bit wordy, but I didn’t mind it so much a few years ago. LOL.
But Crossroads could have used quite a bit of editing, IMO.
Enjoy your week!

I hope you a nice large margarita at Sal’s! Is the series Dopesick really good? I’m curious about it. We are nearing the finish of The Morning Show Season 2 …. and it’s coming alive a bit. I think I still like Season 1 better … but we will finish Season 2. Also I need to catch up with American Rust. I hope you have a great week! You went on quite a few outings last week …. sounds fun.

I had TWO good margaritas! LOL. I wasn’t driving, so I took advantage of that.
I am enjoying Dopesick, and the characters’ stories are interesting. The best characters are those from the Justice Department.
I can’t get The Morning Show on my TV, as it’s on Apple TV, right? Maybe I should check adding that to my TV.
I have finished the available episodes of American Rust, so there should be more coming.
Thanks for visiting, Susan.

Thanks, Melinda, I am enjoying it so far. It has short chapters and a great pace, so those things always draw me into a book.
Enjoy your week!

I have some long audio books I need to begin listening to. I like reading 2 to 3 books a week and a longer work reduces that.
I like Mexican food and Sal’s looks good.
Have a good week and Happy Reading!

I’ve steered clear of Franzen after the earlier controversy, seems I can continue to do so without worrying about missing out given your comments.
I’m glad you were able to enjoy another birthday celebration with a friend. My youngest son works in a restaurant part time and masks are still required to be worn by all staff, and diners too except when eating.
Hulu isn’t available here so I know nothing of Dopesick. I am about to start watching One of Us is Lying with my daughter now her finals are done.
Wishing you a great reading week

Thanks, Shelleyrae, and I couldn’t remember the details of Franzen’s controversy, but I knew Oprah was somehow involved, lol. So I Googled it. Yeah, I will steer clear of his books for a while.
Enjoy your week, and I felt so great to have two birthday celebrations!

I am also enjoying Her Perfect Family so far.

I haven’t read a book that long in a while. It takes up to much time. I think the Harry Potter series was the last time I dived into one of those.
This week’s books sound amazing. I used to read a lot of psychological thrillers. It’s been a while, though.
Hope you have a great week.

Thanks, Cheryl, I will steer clear of Franzen’s books for a while. In addition to the lengthiness, they felt a little preachy to me. LOL

It’s nice to have one birthday lunch one week and another one the next…and that’s exactly what happened to me, too.
I started Crossroads at the end of October, but I decided to wait and read it after Nonfiction November.
