WEEKLY UPDATES: BOOKS, ETC.

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon and The Sunday Post for weekly updates.

Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

A great week with three books read and reviewed, and they were all good ones!  My six blog posts showed a little bit of my blogging life this week.  I also enjoyed some outings and luxuriated in my space with additional Coca Cola trivia (see below).  On Monday, I am finally going to get my flu shot.  Yes, it was scheduled for this week, but then cancelled.  I guess that is something we can expect these days.

I viewed some old movies this week:  I found an old favorite, Write and Wrong, with Kirstie Alley, on Roku.  I also continued watching Big Sky, on Hulu and American Rust on Amazon Prime.

My new Kindle is serving me well, as I can go back and forth between them.  I must admit that I’m still adjusting to the page turning aspects of the Paperwhite…but I’ll get there.

For now let’s take a closer look at my week.

CURRENTLY READING:

Elevator Pitch, by Linwood Barclay

The New York Times bestselling author of A Noise Downstairs and No Time for Goodbye returns with an edge-of-your-seat thriller that does for elevators what Psycho did for showers and Jaws did for the beach—a heart-pounding tale in which a series of disasters paralyzes New York City with fear.

That was my week.  What did yours look like?  I enjoyed reading, decorating, and a little bit of cooking!  My Instacart app regularly brings goodies to my kitchen.  Below, a little snack with wine.

  1. I love the Coke stuff, especially that table!

I enjoyed Peril too. It’s been a while since I read a political book but I’m glad I did- so much background stuff.

    Hope your weekend is fabulous!

    1. Thanks, Greg, and while I’m loving my new Coca Cola set, I miss my old one with four chairs, more padded than these, lol.

But…happy to have the replicas of my old set.

I have read all of the Bob Woodward Trump books (Fear and Rage and this one).

      Enjoy your week.

  2. I am glad to hear you have had a good week of reading, blogging, trips out and enjoying your new full table set. 😊 My week has been a quiet, busy, tiring one, which just flew by! Sadly with no blog posts in over a week, but I am hoping to get back on it this week! 🤞 Take care and happy reading. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Juli, I had so many Coca Cola collectibles in my last apartment (before my time in “prison,” lol), so I will slowly add a few pieces to my new collection.

I love Lisa Unger’s books, so I’m excited about Last Girl Ghosted. Have a great week!

Wow, I just noticed the Coca Cola coverlet. So cute. I hope your day is going well and I hope you enjoy a few more books.I googled Lisa Unger after seeing the book you mentioned and was reminded of her train novel and how it inspired me to write a story of my own a while back.

  4. I’m glad you had another good week and found more fun Coca Cola items to decorate you space. That was a great review of Peril. I want to read it, but know how much it will upset me. I’m reading Jonathan Franzen’s new novel and loving it.

    1. Thanks, JoAnn, it has been a long time since I read Jonathan Frantzen, but I’m sure I need to do that.

I love decorating, and the Coca Cola items remind me of all the cheerful moments they have brought to me.

Peril added to what I already knew, but I needed to read it.

  5. A good week! I think I should read Peril. I’m going to try to get our flu shots scheduled shortly. I never got the hang of the Paperwhite and gave it away. Both Kindle fires after the original were slower and didn’t last as long. I have given up and just read on my iphone now, which is fast and easy although a smaller page size..

  6. Oooh! Last Girl Ghosted sounds really promising. I like the cover, too.

I got my flu shot last week. My sister’s arm was sore for a long time after she got hers.

I am very tempted to get a new Kindle. It’s hard to read on mine outdoors.

Love the photo with the wine. I wonder if they deliver wine now. I’m not sure.

    1. Thanks, Deb, and I am definitely eager to read Last Girl Ghosted.

As for wine deliveries, I get mine through my Instacart app. So yes, I guess that qualifies. Otherwise, I would be very sad, since I never go to the actual stores anymore. Transportation is a problem.

I hope my arm doesn’t hurt after the flu shot…but I haven’t had any issues in previous shots..

      Have a great week.

  7. The Kindle Paperwhite is a great device! I love mine, although I recently got a Kobo. It just works better with library ebooks. However, I have HUNDREDS of unread kindle books, so my Paperwhite is going to be around for a while!

    1. Thanks, Melinda, I am so happy to have two Kindles now, as I can go back and forth between them. I am still adjusting to tapping for page turns instead of the buttons on my Oasis, but like everything, we do find a way to adapt.

      Enjoy your week!

  8. Glad you had a good week.
Last Girl Ghosted is showing up on several blogs and it sounds good.
I have found reading on my phone a bit easier than on my Kindle Fire but they both have space and connectivity issues that slow down my ebook reading.
Have another good week and Happy Reading!

  9. I think about getting a new Kindle every once in a while, but not sure which one I would get. Last week was a good week of reading for me but I was lazy and didn’t put it in this week’s post, just stuck with what I was currently reading. Have a good week.

  10. Such a peaceful reading and blogging life! So glad you’re happy where you are now and can relax! I have had Elevator Pitch on my TBR for a while and I’ve been hearing lots of buzz about Last Girl Ghosted.
(BTW, I was always more of a Pepsi fan, but preferred 7-Up and Sprite to cola, anyway.)

I didn’t know they’d made American Rust into a series. I really liked the book when I read it years ago. I am looking forward to reading The Last Girl Ghosted. I hope you enjoy it! Have a great week, Laurel-Rain!
