Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon and The Sunday Post for weekly updates.

Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Another delightful week filled with moving day plans and activities.  I will be vacating this residence for my new apartment on July 23rd, and the week has been spent with paperwork, packing, etc.  And I’ve loved the good times I’ve had with my granddaughter Fiona and her boyfriend, who have been a big help.  We collected boxes and other supplies, went to the bank, and even sent off my forwarding address notification.  Then we enjoyed lunch at Mimi’s.

While Fiona and her boyfriend packed, I spent time on the phone trying to set up Internet and TV services, and realized that everything has changed since the last time I had them installed.  We will get our modem in the mail and hook everything up ourselves.  That will be a first for me.

During the week, I also read and reviewed three wonderful books and wrote six posts.  I enjoyed another episode of The Good Fight.

I am eager to return to something resembling a normal life in the midst of the chaos, knowing that within days I will finally be in a place I believe I can enjoy.

Now let’s take a closer look at my week.

Kill All Your Darlings, by David Bell

That was my week. What did yours look like? Below is my #2 son and his three grown children, finally all together after two years apart. Aubrey, on the right, was in New Zealand through most of the Pandemic. We’ll be spending time together this week, too.

    1. Thanks, Erin, and I feel blessed that my granddaughter came back from her Wyoming adventure just in time to literally take a load off…packing, moving, and helping!

I am slowly figuring out the New Normal with services like Internet and TV.

The decorating will be the best part!

      Enjoy your week.

  1. Yay! I’m glad to hear moving day is coming up soon. So you’re responsible for hooking up the modem? I would definitely need help with that. I am NOT tech savvy, unfortunately. I think New Zealand would have been a great place to spend the pandemic, other than being far away from family. Glad they’re all together again!

That’s Fantastic news Laurel!! I’m so happy for you … that you’ll have your own apartment! You made it. It’s so great it came in a short time & you’ll be there so quick. Much much better living arrangements. I hope you will be very happy …. and will have all your books too! Way to go.

    1. Friday was a very busy day, Greg, with lots of errands…and then some packing. Still a lot more to do, but I’m happy!

Thanks for visiting, and eating lunch at Mimi’s was a delightful break in the day. Enjoy your week.

  3. I’ve been watching The Good Fight with my mom! Just started season 3, and we’ve been enjoying it (although we think season three has been a little odd…). It’s been a lot of fun to see characters from The Good Wife. Hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Merripen, and I’m on Season 5. So far, it is a little weird, too, with a quirky judge stirring things up. A while ago, I watched all of the seasons of The Good Wife, and really loved revisiting them.

      Enjoy your week!

  4. Yayyyyy!!! I’m so glad that you get to move into the apartment you want this week and that you have THE BEST granddaughter to help you and that she has a boyfriend willing and able to help. Can’t wait to hear about and see pics of the new place after you settle in.

    1. Thanks, Jinjer, this has been my best move ever, with my granddaughter and her boyfriend working quickly and reliably. Now we are pretty much done until the day of the actual move, when they will carry everything out to the moving truck…and then into the new place.

I can’t wait to be away from this place!

  5. So great your granddaughter and her boyfriend could help. Hopefully they can help with the modem, etc hookup too!! Looking forward to your review of the new Maynard book. Good luck this week with the move!

    1. Thanks, Mary, they are confident that they can set up the Internet and TV services. My modem is supposed to come in the mail here before moving day.

I can’t wait to read the Maynard book! Enjoy your week.

  6. I’m so glad you were able to have family time this week. Plus, congrats on the new apartment. I’m sure you will be so much happier there. You have some great books on your list too. Enjoy them.

Have a great week and good luck with the new place.

    1. Thanks, Yvonne, I hope to breeze right out of here before the administration here decides to lock this place down again! There haven’t been any cases here, but there are more around us in places with unvaccinated people.

I will definitely be happier in the new apartment!

    1. Thanks, Elizabeth, I am now surrounded by packed boxes! Love that feeling. Just a few last minute things to pack…and then off we go with the actual move on Friday. Fiona and her boyfriend are going to the beach for a couple of days midweek, and then they’ll be full steam ahead moving things. They’re the best.

      Enjoy your week!

  7. Yay for the moving and for the time with your granddaughter! Aubrey is gorgeous! I have serious hair envy. When we moved to Memphis we had our modem mailed to us and it was really easy to hook up and get working so I hope you have the same experience. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Katherine, I hope it is easy, too! My granddaughter thinks it will be. Now I hope the modem arrives in time, because it is coming to my current address. But I need to stop obsessing over things that could go wrong, lol.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Cheryl, the last two years were difficult for my son and his kids, so there will be lots of celebrating when we get together this week.

I am really excited about the actual setting up of the new place!

      Enjoy your week.

Ooh good luck with moving day! And it’s great you’ve got some help as well, because even though I’m only 27 I also have no idea how modems work and how they’re supposed to be plugged in xD I keep seeing ‘Kill All Your Darlings’ around and I’m dying to read it. I hope you enjoy and have a lovely week 🙂

    1. Thanks, Juli, everyone keeps saying the set-up is easy, but I will definitely enjoy having my young grandchildren nearby to assist!

The set-up of services is definitely different from how it was the last time I moved into a place with new cable to install!

I loved Kill All Your Darlings. Enjoy your week.

  9. I’m so glad that your move is working out well. Let’s hope that your new place will be a much better fit for you than the place in which you now live. A move is always fun, too, isn’t it?

You still managed to get a lot of books read last week, and all of them turned out to be really good. Surviving the Night and Dark Road look particularly good.

Glad your g-daughter and her boyfriend were able to be so much help for you!
