WEEKLY UPDATES: A GOOD WEEK…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon and The Sunday Post for weekly updates.

Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

It has been a pretty good week, with good books, movies, etc.  I read and reviewed two books, and both were memorable.  Seven blog posts helped me connect with other bloggers.  And I started watching Shrill, on Hulu.

I got my newest bookshelf, and had fun setting it up.  I am adding books, photos, etc., and feeling blissful!

Today we will be enjoying a Mother’s Day brunch.  I’m not sure what that will be like, but I hope there are mimosas!  LOL.

What are the rest of you enjoying today?  I am sending positive thoughts to all mothers who will be celebrating somewhere.

Let’s take a closer look at my week.

  1. Love the pic of the bookshelf! A fun mix of books and bookish stuff. And so many great books! I am not an early riser but I have serious respect for people who are! I hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Katherine, I got in the habit of early rising during my thirty-year career, most of which I had to drive from the foothills into the city. Even after retirement, my internal clock seemed set for getting up at 5 a.m.

Here, I seem to get up even earlier because I am eager to get on my computer!

Enjoy your books and your week. Happy Mother’s Day!

    1. Thanks, Greg, and yes, there were mimosas! And even tablecloths and food that looked like it came from a restaurant. (Not our usual fare, lol).

I am wondering what will happen today, as my daughter sent me a mysterious text about “keeping my eyes peeled for goodies headed my way.” LOL

Enjoy your week and your books!

  3. Happy Mothers Day, Laurel. The family is coming to my house later for dinner. That is because my husband had a heart procedure on Friday and we want to stay home for a week or so. I hope you enjoy your brunch and the mimosas are on the menu! Have a great week!

Laurel, you might be waking up a bit too early. It’s the weekend after all. I’ve been hearing quite a bit about
Hour of the Witch … and hope it is good. Reminds me of Anne Rice’s title The Witching Hour … did he
just turn that title around? Anyways have you been watching Mare of Easttown yet? It’s pretty good. Enjoy
    your week.

    1. Thanks, Susan, and I can’t seem to wake up later!

I think I am too eager to get on the computer… and read my books, too.

I am curious about Mare of Easttown…must check it out.

      Enjoy your week.

  5. Your new shelves look great, Laurel-Rain and I hope you have a lovely Mothers’ Day brunch, with mimosas! 😊 This week for me was quiet, wet and cold! However I did finish two books, which is very good for me, so there was a silver lining. Take care and happy reading in the coming week. 🙂

  6. You are having great fun with your new bookshelf. I can see your delight in your picture.

Nothing sounds better than having a mimosa with your brunch. It’s been a long time since I had a mimosa. Or my personal favorite, a frozen margarita.

Two five-star reads? A fabulous reading week.

    1. Thanks, Deb, and because I haven’t been going out much…until recently, I have been occasionally ordering Champagne splits so I could make my own mimosas.

I had margaritas recently, too, when I went out with my granddaughter.

      Enjoy your week!

  8. Your new bookcase looks great! Enjoy filling it with new books and arranging photos and keepsakes. Did you get that mimosa with brunch? We went out for brunch yesterday, so I got one a day early. The Nancy Thayer book looks good. Hope it’s another good week for you!

    1. Thanks, JoAnn, I did get mimosas…and enjoyed the food, too.

I had a quiet day today, but the goodies that my two younger kids sent did not arrive! I wonder what happened?

      Enjoy your week.

  11. Are you watching Shrill from the beginning or just the new season. I really enjoy that show (and it is filmed in my neck of the woods!) but I haven’t had a chance to start the new season yet because it is something I can only watch when the kids are not around…and the kids are ALWAYS around these days!

    Have a great week!

  12. So great to hear you had a good book week and I’m very jealous of your new book shelf, which is looking very good. Your upcoming reads look like a really eclectic mix. I find if I read too much of the “same thing” I start getting bored and DNF books that I might have otherwise finished, so I can understand why you would chose such a varied reading diet.

    1. Thanks, Louise, that is how I experience my reading, too. I actually started my current read a few weeks ago, but it felt too familiar so I set it aside. But now that I took a little break from that genre, I am loving it.

      Enjoy your week!

I don’t think I’ve heard of Shrill. I will have to check it out. I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day Brunch, Laurel-Rain. Did you get your mimosa? 🙂 My husband commented one day last week that he had considered breakfast in bed for me for Mother’s Day but then dismissed the idea because he wasn’t sure I would like that idea. He’s right. As sweet a gesture as that sounds I cringe at the thought of food in the bed. LOL I am looking forward to reading Hour of the Witch and hope we both enjoy it! Have a great week and enjoy your reading!

    1. Thanks, Wendy, and I agree about the cringe-worthy nature of food in the bed!

We did have mimosas at our brunch, and I also had the ingredients to make more in my apartment.

I am also looking forward to Hour of the Witch.

    1. I did get mimosas…and enjoyed a quiet day of reading and movie watching. I also had long talks with three of my adult kids on the phone.

I hope to spend in-person time with each of them eventually! Thanks for visiting, Erin.
