WEEKLY UPDATES: MOVING FORWARD…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Another week has skidded by, and I have only read and reviewed two books!  But I enjoyed them.  I also wrote seven blog posts.   The rest of the time, I rearranged stuff in my bathroom and other areas…getting ready for a new bookshelf coming soon!  Today I hope to spend time with my granddaughter Fiona, who is moving to Wyoming for the summer, to work in a resort.  I will miss her!

I continued watching Cruel Summer on Hulu.

Let’s grab some coffee and take a closer look at the week.

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, I am so eager to get that bookshelf…and so glad it didn’t come this weekend! Apparently, Amazon is unable to rouse anyone here for deliveries in the early evening, as I discovered last night. Luckily, they will try again.

I do love reading books that speak to my heart…and I especially enjoyed That Summer this week.

      Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Greg, I will certainly miss Fiona! But today we will enjoy our lunch (and I hope to have a margarita!).

Bookshelves are my favorite things. I didn’t know where I would put this new one, but I realized that I could rearrange a few things and find the perfect spot. Now I can love filling it up.

      Enjoy your week.

  2. That does sound like quite a week you’ve had and how exciting that you’re getting a new bookshelf! 😃 My own week was a quiet one and didn’t do a lot other than work, reading and cooking. Take care and more happy reading in May and the coming week. 🙂

Yay, a new bookshelf. I am a bit envious, because I have almost no space for books or shelves anymore. I hope Fiona has a good time at Wyoming.

    Stay safe and cheerful!

    1. Thanks, Gayathri, I am very challenged for space, but after eyeballing a few odds and ends, using my tape measure, and trying to be creative…I found the perfect spot! I can’t imagine finding more space after this, however. LOL

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Nai, I do love new bookshelves, and this one doesn’t even require assembly! A folding kind of shelf. I’ve had that kind before, and they work great.

Enjoy your week and your books!

  5. That’s so cool that Fiona is going to Wyoming to work at a resort for the summer. Makes me think of when my friend and I were teens in Arizona, wanting summer jobs at Disneyland, but no clue in the world about how to make that happen. lol Sounds like Fiona is more resourceful than we were. lol

  6. Love the new bookshelf, Laurel:)). And it’s par for the course – as soon as the youngsters get a bit of freedom, off they go… I hope you get a chance to have a lovely get-together. And at least we have Facetime and Skype, etc to be able to chat and keep in touch. Have a great week.

    1. Thanks, Sarah, and I am so grateful for all the ways we can connect with family members! Those methods became so apparent in this past year.

I do love getting new bookshelves and I can’t wait to begin filling it up!

Stay safe, and enjoy your reading.

I love the inbound bookshelf! I must admit that I could use a new one myself… The numbers of homeless/double stacked titles are creeping up again!

I hope you have a nice time with your granddaughter before she heads off for the summer!
    Take care.

Love the bookshelf. I’m watching Cruel Summer too. I really want to know what happened with Jeanette’s mom and dad. So far I do not like either Jeanette’s mom or Kate’ mom at all–and Jeanette’s short hair wig is dreadful. Overall, it’s very entertaining!

  9. It doesn’t look like you were wild about Cleaving. I wasn’t either. And I liked Julia and Julie so much.

One of the best summers of my life was spent working in Wyoming. I worked at Yellowstone Park. What an adventure. Hope Fiona has a blast.

Love your new bookshelf. I just got one, too. I needed something to store books on.

    1. I was so happy to find a new bookshelf that wouldn’t require assembly, Deb, and could fit nicely into my small space.

I just had lunch with my granddaughter and her boyfriend, with whom she is going to Wyoming. I had fun with them. Such a great outing.

And no, not a fan of Cleaving. Gross gory stuff, lol!

    1. Thanks, Anne, I am definitely eager to have more shelf space!

As for Fiona, she will be so missed, but I am hoping she will eventually come back. Or come for lots of visits.

      Enjoy your week!

That bookshelf looks snappy & nice! That will hold quite a bit. I’m impressed Fiona will go to Wyoming for work. It sounds like a good adventure. Much of Wyoming is beautiful. We have driven through parts of it a couple times. I’m glad to see you’ve already read the new Jennifer Weiner novel, wow …. good to hear you liked it. Enjoy your week …. and take a photo of your bookshelf once you get it situated there.

    1. Thanks, Susan, and, of course I will snap some photos! LOL.

I am always eager to add more shelves, and was thrilled that I figured out a place for it.

Fiona is a licensed massage therapist, but in California…I thought she loved the work, but she is already tired of it. She said it “doesn’t bring me joy.” Uh-oh, is this a Marie Kondo thing? LOL

I know she is eager to explore new things, so I hope she has a good time of it.

      Enjoy your week!

And I can’t wait to fill up my new bookshelf.

Fiona and I, along with her boyfriend, had a lovely lunch and lots of good talk. I am going to miss her so much, but I’m grateful for texting, video chats, etc.

      Enjoy your week!

      1. Glad you are loving Bette’s book…they are always so good.

You will fill the bookcase up in no time!! 🙂

It’s very difficult to see them move away, but so thankful for texting, video chats, etc. My son is working in Germany, and he has always been somewhere not close to me in the USA before that. I’m so happy to have all these ways to stay connected.

        Take care.

    1. Thanks, Melinda, and I hope she will come back here, but I know she will want to fully enjoy the adventure. She has lived in California all her life, and I know she wants to stretch her wings.

Enjoy your books and your week!

    1. Thanks, Martha, I love bookshelves and have had many over the years. I only brought one here, as the space is small, but found the perfect spot for this new one.

Fiona will enjoy her adventure…and she will be missed!

      Enjoy your books.

    1. Thanks, Katherine, I believe that rearranging things helped me get through the past year and the isolation! Plus, I feel cozier now!

Fiona will be missed, but we’ll text and FB and video chats.

      Enjoy your week.

  13. I had a slow reading week too. I’ve run out of wall space for more bookshelves so my piles in odd places are just getting higher!
I hope Fiona enjoys her summer in Wyoming.
We don’t get Hulu in Australia so I had to look up Cruel Summer. I’m currently binging on White Collar which I’ve enjoyed before.

Wishing you a great reading week

    1. Thanks, Shelleyrae, and technically, I don’t have the space to expand…but when there’s a will, there’s a way. Or something like that, lol. Tucking a chest of drawers under the bathroom sink and using under-the-bed storage for some things…that helps.

But I don’t think there will be any more shelves!

      Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Erin, and I hope that the shelf unfolds as easily as it looks on the product page! But I’ve had this kind of shelf before, so I’m feeling optimistic.

As for Fiona, I am smiling and cheering her on…but crying a bit inside, too. I can relate to the need for exploring new things and new places, though.

      Have a great week!

  14. Very pretty bookshelf! I’ve just started looking for a new one, too. I lost a lot of shelf space when we moved and, even though I culled quite a few books, still need more. Good luck to Fiona this summer… I know you’ll miss spending time with her. Hope your week is off to a good start.

    1. Thanks, JoAnn, I am reading and loving When I Last Saw You…and I am feeling sad already about Fiona being away and out of state. Sigh.

My new bookshelf should arrive tomorrow, and I’m hoping that it comes together nicely.

I hope you have a great week, Laurel-Rain!

    1. Thanks, Wendy, the Cruel Summer show goes back and forth in time rather quickly, but the changes in the appearance of the characters helps me stay on track.

I loved the lunch with Fiona…and we got some photos.

I am eager to start putting books on the new shelf when it arrives.

  16. There is nothing better than a new bookshelf! I’m looking forward to reading That Summer this summer, provided I can get it from the library. It shares a title with a book by Sarah Dessen that was one of my favorite books as a teen, so I feel like that is a good omen!

    1. Thanks, Katie, I agree about bookshelves! I have had so many over the years, and “lost” a lot of them when I moved to this smaller space. Now I am expanding a little.

    1. Thanks, Carole, and even as I relish the new bookshelf and how my space is “shaping up,” I am sad that she won’t be able to share it with me. Not for a while, anyway. Last year, we weren’t able to have visits in my apartment at all, so I was looking forward to having her visit now. Sigh.

      But…I can send photos!
