Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
This past week had its ups and downs, as we all remembered the anniversary of our Year Long Lockdown on Thursday, March 11. Despite the memories of the year, I did enjoy reading and blogging…and finished three books. I even wrote seven blog posts!
I stayed in my apartment for two days, though, not going out to the dining room or anywhere. I told myself my hibernation was about spending more time reading and viewing. And partially that was true. But I know that thoughts of the year behind us left me down in the doldrums. But then I switched it up and decided to reflect on the good things. I am fully vaccinated now, I had a visit with my granddaughter Fiona on Thursday, and we are anticipating some loosening of the restrictions in the weeks ahead. More and better visits, for one thing. With St. Patrick’s Day ahead, I am also calling on The Luck of the Irish. I am not Irish, but some of my relatives are. LOL.
Today I will be Skyping with my Prague son…and I actually just went to the dining room and had breakfast! Now I will have another cup of coffee and share my week. The photo below was taken in my previous residence, back when I had my favorite Disney trinkets and a doll I wish I had here!

I am sorry this has been an up and down week for you emotionally – It certainly is sad to think we have been going through this for over a year now, but with the vaccination and warmer weather there is light at the end of the tunnel now! Take care, be kind to yourself and happy reading. 🙂

Congrats on getting your vaccine! I’ve been thinking about the lockdown anniversary a lot too. The last time I went to a store without a mask was March 17, 2020. I was buying myself a birthday cake because my birthday is on the 18. My second birthday in lockdown is coming this week. It’s hard to believe we’ve been living like this for so long.

You did the right thing. That’s exactly what I should do when I get down (every other day, I think). I should reflect on all the good things. There are lots of them. Vaccinated is a big thing, I think. Glad you worked your way out of the doldrums.
I would love to know more about Kamala Harris. I’ll be interested in hearing what you think about Kamala’s Way.
Thank you for reminding me how to come through this without lingering in the dumps.

Amazing to think a year has passed! We won’t forget this passed year quickly. So glad to hear you have received your vaccines and that you got to see your grand kids! Yea!!!
We’ve been working straight through since beginning of January and a holiday is very welcome now. One week to go!
I didn’t get to my blog the last week at all and only review one book that I promised I will get to. I see The Lies she Told sure is doing the rounds today! Interested in seeing why. But I can’t download another book at the moment, I have way to many to get through at the moment!
Have a good week and be kind to yourself!

Yeah I can relate to the whole Covid year being the Doldrums. I’m in quarantine right now from travel, so it’s not fun. I hope you can get Out and eat on the patio of a restaurant or something. Like the Cheese Cake Factory! You deserve it. With a glass of vino too. I’m hoping the new Sally Hepworth book is good. Let us know! Enjoy your week. & the sunshine.

Thanks, Susan, I am so looking forward to eating on a restaurant patio! Here, they won’t let us even leave the premises except for a doctor’s appointment. I’ve only been out once this year!
Looking forward to that little glass of vino at the Cheesecake Factory…or a margarita!

I think emotions are all over the place as we reflect on the year behind us and anticipate changes ahead as we get vaccinated. My husband got his second shot on Friday and I was very happy to get my first. In two weeks we (or just he, for now) can begin to make small changes.
I’m interested in the new Sally Hepworth novel. I loved The Mother-in-Law! Hope the upcoming week is a good one!

As for small steps forward, this residence is very strict, so it will be a while. Sigh.

I’m two weeks out from my first shot and research shows that I’m pretty protected at this point, which makes me quite happy. Hubby and I went out to eat inside a restaurant the other day. The first time in a while. Its hard to decide what chances are worth taking, particularly after you know you have some immunity but I’m definitely feeling like we are on the downhill side of this mountain.

Thanks, Carole, and the week is improving. But I find myself in better spirits when I alternate days out in the dining room with days hibernating in my apartment! And I get more reading and viewing done when I stay in.
However, I don’t want to return to my hermit days. LOL Enjoy your week.

So…by the beginning of last year, I had quite a stack of nonfiction books, and the challenge came along to save me!

I’m glad you’ve been vaccinated and you’re able to start having family visits! My husband is a healthcare worker so he got his back in December/January. My in-laws got their second vaccine on Friday and my parents get their second tomorrow. Now if we could just get me taken care of! I think it will still be a few months before it’s my turn though.
