WEEKLY UPDATES: MARCH MOMENTS…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

This past week brought some days that were better than others, with me hiding out in my apartment and just vegetating a bit with books, movies, etc.  I only read two books, but one of them was for my Nonfiction Reading Challenge, so I count that as a win.  Plus, it was a hardcover book, so I could add it to my print volumes shelf!

The movies I loved on Netflix were Brain on Fire and Otherhood.

I wrote six blog posts this week, plus I enjoyed visiting other blogs as well.

Now I am planning to go to the dining room for dinner, after skipping lunch…but first I’ll have another cup of coffee so we can chat about the details of my week.

I hope this week will be a good one for you, Laurel Rain. I think tomorrow will be my day for hiding out a bit. We have no where to be–or rather no online meetings or classes to attend. I think we’ll watch a movie or two and take it easy. Chevy Stevens’ book looks really good. I hope you are enjoying At the Edge of the Haight. Take care and have a great week.

“Vegetating” sounds perfect. I have been doing the same these days too. I need some time down time after all these crazy days. Stay safe!

    1. Thanks, Shelleyrae, I have enjoyed both of my books this week, and felt so good about finishing the second Nonfiction Challenge book! Thanks for the challenge to spur me on.

Your dinner does sound tasty. I ended up with Broccoli Cheese soup and a dinner roll. With red wine, of course. Have a great week!

  3. I hope you enjoy your dinner in the dining room and whatever tipple you decide to have tonight 😊 This week I haven’t read as much as I would have liked, as I have been very tired after work, however when I was able I have been enjoying reading the mythological-fantasy The Testament of Loki by Joanne M. Harris. Take care and happy reading in the coming week. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Sarah, I love finishing every print book, to fill out my bookshelf which was almost empty when I moved here! But the print books do take me longer, for some reason. I read all day to finish the nonfiction book yesterday. Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Jackie, and I love wine! I used to mostly go out and have martinis and margaritas, but those things are from the “olden days” before the Pandemic, when restaurants were open and we were allowed to go out. Sigh.

  4. Ooh Chevy Stevens, haven’t read her in several years but remember liking her books. Enjoy that.
Never heard of The Edge of the Haight but would probably appeal to me, as a child of the ’60s (well, pre-teen but wtih older brothers).
Huddling in bed with a good book is what I will be doing today before I venture out into the supermarket tomorrow. At least hubby and I both got the first vaccine but I make sure to double mask and carry sanitizer with me. Have a great reading and blogging week!

    1. Thanks, Rita, I also love Chevy Stevens. I wish I could go out, but we are not allowed to do so…not even after getting both vaccinations! Living in a senior residence is more restrictive than I would like, but I do enjoy my little apartment and my growing bookshelves.

  5. I feel as if I have been hiding out for the last year, honestly.

Good for you! Glad you were able to read a book for your nonfiction challenge last week.

You’ve got some promising reads coming up. Every Last Fear and Unfaithful both look like page-turners.

I’ll be interested to see what you think of the Seligman book … I liked it all right. I think I should see the movie Brain on Fire … seems like a scary situation to have. Enjoy your week and your books!

  7. Hiding out seems to be the story of my life, especially the past couple of months! At the Edge of the Haight looks good… will keep an eye out for your thoughts. A glass of wine with dinner would be my choice. 😉 Have a good week!

  8. Really great book choices!!
I actually have been meaning to watch Brain on Fire for some time now… I keep putting it off though! Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I hope you have a great reading week!

  9. Hi Lorraine,

Sorry you are Covid drained right now, I think we are all having days like that, but when you have no-one to rant at, it must be so frustrating. I am hoping that a big glass of vino did the trick and that you feel able to fight on for the week ahead!

Reading non-fiction would have made me feel worse, as when times are tough I like to escape with a spot of make believe, so I have nothing but admiration for your tenacity.

You have some excellent books on your list this week, all of which I would read myself. In fact I have already finished ‘Every last Fear’ and thoroughly enjoyed it and I have read previous books by Adam Mitzner, so I know just how good that one will probably be.

Thanks for sharing and I hope that you enjoy them all 🙂

    1. Thanks, Yvonne, I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed Every Last Fear. I need to pick that one up later today!

I ended up not going to the dining room at all yesterday…but I did enjoy reading. I watched the Oprah interview, but found it disappointing. Sigh.

      Have a great week!

  10. That looks like a really good selection of books. I keep seeing people say they’ve read a non-fiction book – I’m supposed to be doing that this year but I’m not getting very far with it. I’ll probably end up reading one on New Year’s Eve knowing me.

  11. Hiding out is definitely the way to go right now! I haven’t had much luck with movies lately but I’ve been starting to miss movie watching so I might have to do some Netflix browsing. I hope you have a great week!

  12. I’m glad you had a good week. Brain on Fire looks like it would be good.
One day I will read a Chevy Stevens book. I’ve heard good things.
Thanks for showing The Perfect Marriage. I have to work at remembering to pick a First Reads book each month.
I love your cute avatar images.
Have a good week with Happy reading and watching!

    1. Thanks, Martha, I don’t often check out the First Reads, but when I find one I enjoy, I am always happy to have done so.

As for Chevy Stevens, I have loved all of her books.

      I enjoy my avatars, too.
