WEEKLY UPDATES: A BOOKISH WEEK…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Another week, and more good books to enjoy!  I read and reviewed three books, and wrote seven blog posts.  I also did some Netflix viewing (The Trial of the Chicago 7) and rearranged some more items in my entry way.  I am restlessly changing things up regularly.

My coffee grinder has given me some great brew all this week.  I love the scent of it, as well as the taste.

Speaking of the coffee, let’s grab a cup and take a closer look at the week.

CURRENTLY READING:  Finally, I am reading Invisible Girl, by Lisa Jewell

Lisa Jewell has a way of combining furiously twisty, utterly gripping plots with wonderfully rich characterization—she has such compassion for her characters, and we feel we know them utterly… A triumph!” —Lucy Foley, New York Times bestselling author

I am eager to follow these twisty plots!

That was my week.  Good reading, some productive blogging, and some mornings that I enjoyed in my apartment instead of the dining room.  I am sharing the rhubarb/strawberry pie I had a while ago, because we are having it again today!

  1. Sounds like you had a pretty good week! Yay for good books! I am interested in The Invisible Girl…

I love the smell of coffee too even if I’m not a big drinker of it myself. Something about the aroma… 🙂

    Be well this week!

I see a lot of people on Goodreads reading this Lisa Jewell novel, it’s really giving me the eye, I’m intrigued about Sisters too… And now that I’ve read your introduction, I really want to drink a good coffee, I can almost smell it ! Have a great cozy, comfortable week drinking coffee 🙂

    1. Thanks, Erin, when I opened up the coffee and saw the beans, I had a momentary panic, since I had no grinder! But with Amazon as my pal, I had it the next day. The scent of freshly ground coffee was worth the wait.

I love playing around with my space. It is tiny, but small changes make an impact.

      Enjoy your week.

  3. Brewing coffee has to be one of the best smells on the planet! And as ever, I love the way you rearrange your environment around you – it looks lovely. And that pie looks delicious… I hope the coming week is a peaceful, book-crammed one, Laurel:))

    1. Thanks, Sarah, I am eagerly anticipating the week. Besides looking forward to more of the coffee, I am finally getting a hair trim in our community salon here…I set aside my fears and reservations and decided to go for it.

I do love playing around with my interiors!

My daughter is coming to visit today, and while we will be six feet apart and masked, we can still talk!

      Enjoy your week.

Haa the smell of fresh coffee Laurel! We have a small shop roasting the coffee outside(in these big machines where you heat the beans before using them to grind etc) and that smells amazing in the street each time they do that! Have a great week and stay safe!

Hi Laurel, I too watched The Trial of the Chicago 7 … while I thought it was interesting with various fine actors … I found it sort of ebbed for me. What did you think of it? I still need to see the Gloria Steinem film Glorias. One more week before the election … if we survive that long. Escape with your books!

    1. Thanks, Susan, I liked The Trial of the Chicago 7, mainly because I liked remembering the events of the 60s. However the portrayal was not as dramatic as it could have been.

      I did love The Glorias.

I am anxious about the election, even though I want it to be over! It could be good or bad, however, depending on the outcome. I’m remembering last time!

  6. I love the scent of coffee grinding. If I had my perfect world, I’d live above a coffee shop/bookshop located in Paris.

I need you to come rearrange things at my house. Once something lands in one spot, there it stays until I die, I think.

Sisters and Sunday Girl look very promising.

    Happy birthday!

    1. Oh, yes, the scent of coffee is the best, and freshly ground is so much better than plain grounds! I love the idea of a coffee shop/bookstore; that reminds me of some of my favorite places back in the 70s, like The Upstart Crow.

Thanks for visiting, Deb, and I do love rearranging things. Not everybody does, of course. Sorry I can’t just hop and skip to your place for the project, LOL.

      Enjoy your week.

I’m not a coffee drinker. I don’t even like the way it smells. I’m glad you find it enjoyable though. I’ve been doing lots of reading now that most of things I watch on television are over for the season. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I love moving furniture around. My husband used to go to work and when he returned all the furniture was moved. I have had Sunday Girl on my shelf for ages. I’ve read lots of good reviews for it.

  9. I am not a coffee drinker but my husband is. I’ve been doing the grocery shopping while we’re traveling since he works and I don’t. He likes the grocery store and cooking and I don’t like either. Anyway, he usually wants to stop at a fancy coffee shop and get his coffee beans himself. For whatever reason, he decided to get ground coffee from the grocery store recently. He made me take notes and even made me watch videos so I would know how to use the store’s coffee grinder! 😀 I am the kind of person who likes to know that I know what I’m doing so I didn’t object but it was probably funny for the cashiers to see me studiously looking at the picture of my notes I had saved on my phone as I did something as simple as grinding coffee beans! Enjoy your week!

    1. Cute story about the coffee grounds…that sounds like something a coffee lover would do. LOL

I just made a pot of freshly ground coffee…and the scent is waking me up!

Enjoy your week, Jen, with or without coffee.
