WEEKLY UPDATES: ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER WEEK…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

It is Week Two of Block Editing, and I am finding my way…slowly.  As for my reading, not so great.  I read two books, and had mixed reactions.  But I did write nine posts:  I tell myself it is extra practice with this difficult editor.

We are allowed to go to the dining room for all of our meals now, and also attend activities.  Distanced and masked.  I don’t participate in many events, as I am not interested in a lot of things.  Not a bingo player, for example.  But there was a Happy Hour event yesterday…so I went to that.  Not very exciting, but then again, what can we expect?

Let’s grab some more coffee and take a closer look at the week.

That was my week!  How did your week go?  Every day feels like a chore sometimes, but then something happens to brighten things up.  A conversation with another resident, a special menu in the dining room, or a good show on Amazon Prime or Netflix.  Sometimes it is a simple lunch of banana, cottage cheese, and wheat germ with a good cup of coffee.

I have been wanting to read Troubles in Paradise since some time now, I want to check the author’s books out. Hope you enjoy reading them and have a great Sunday!
    Here’s my post

    1. I have never been able to get into audiobooks, sigh; I think I just like curling up in a comfy chair and reading. I am too easily distracted when listening.

Thank for stopping by, Kimberly, and enjoy your week.

  2. I want to listen to the Elin Hilderbrand Troubles in Paradise books, I have them marked in Audible. Yes, its really good when something small just brightens our day. Its good you can now get out of your room at least. That has to be something. I want to read about RBG but just need to wait to find the best book about her.

    1. Oh, I know that I kept waiting for the “best” book, but then decided to start with the one that gave her the “Notorious RBG” label, lol.

I loved the movie that came out a couple of years ago: On the Basis of Sex.

I have all the books in the Paradise trilogy, but have only read one so far.

      Enjoy your week, Kathryn.

  3. Ooo you’ve had a busy blogging week, so you must be getting better at the new Block Editor, even if it is difficult to use. Well done! I can’t face it, so I am still using my backdoor access to the Classic Editor. 😅 Take care and happy reading in the coming week. 🙂

  4. My week felt very, very slow. And I think that’s because we just don’t do very much… I go to work, wear my mask there, and come home. We don’t go out, and we don’t really see anyone, as we try to stay safe and keep the Covid numbers manageable.
I’m glad you have some activities open again, even if some of them don’t really interest you. I think being able to socialize even a little bit is very important for our mental health.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading 🙂

    1. Thanks, Linda, I have enjoyed talking to people in neighboring tables, six feet away, lol; sometimes we walk back to our apartments and linger in the halls, masked, to chat a bit.

I don’t need very much socializing…I get a lot from blog visiting, lol.

Stay safe and enjoy your week.

I am sorry your activities are not entertaining as you hope but you are right in making peace with it. We are all doing the best we can with everything that is happening. Stay safe and hope you end up loving Block editor, as much as I do.

  6. I agree, life has been difficult this year and we need to look out for the little bits of joy when we see it. A good book, a binge-worthy show on Netflix, a really good cup of coffee!
I haven’t read any of your week’s books, but I certainly want to go look them up. It’s a good time to remember: we are in this together! Thank goodness for book blogger friends 🙂

    1. I heard that there is a book club, but I haven’t yet tried it, Cathy. I suspect that I won’t like it unless I find someone in the club who can share thoughts about it first. If that someone reads similar books to mine, that is.

Although it is probably good to get out of our comfort zone when reading.

I love that cover for The Library of lost and found. I’ve seen a different cover as well and it almost made me lose interest in the book!

Your blog still looks lovely, so never mind Block Editor.

Hope you will have a wonderful week, here’s my The Sunday Post #14

  8. I hope you are able to have continued success with the block editing. I know the new Blogger set up has given me fits. And yay for some new freedoms. I hope things continue to go well for you. And that you continue to have little brightening moments! I agree, sometimes it’s the little things… 🙂

  9. Sounds like you’re getting to grips with the new editor! I’ve hated the changes made to Blogger so I sympathise but we’ll get there I’m sure! It’s oddly comforting to know that all blogging platforms have their issues and annoyances. 🙂

I think 9 posts is more than I’ve shared in the past 6 weeks so well done on writing so many in a single week! It’s nice having them pre-written/scheduled… Takes the pressure off.

Hope you have a good week!

  10. The Library of Lost and Found is one I’ve been drawn to. I bet the RBG book will be really interesting. She was a remarkable woman and fascinating jurist.
Enjoy your meals and limited activities. Stay safe and Happy Reading!

  11. I’m on the outskirts of Nottingham, we’re going back into a stricter lockdown as we now have the worst covid infection rate in the UK. I hope things are improving where you are – keep safe and happy reading.

    1. Thanks, Louise, the times are troubling, and just when we seem to be doing better, the virus spikes again!

All people are not doing what they should. So many are rebelling against the restrictions. Sigh.

Stay safe, and enjoy your books.

  12. I am glad that you are able to be out of your room more! And I love that the event that spoke to you was Happy Hour. That would be the one that interested me as well. Lol. Michigan is annoying right now – the Michigan Supreme Court stripped our governor of her emergency powers and wow, what do you know, 10 days later we are experiencing the highest levels we have had in months. 😦

I am happy you are finding those silver linings in every day. We need to do that right now!

    1. I was able to bypass the Block Editor for quite a while…but then that door slammed. LOL.

I am doing better with it, except occasionally, the things I thought I had worked out fizzled, for some reason.

Enjoy your week, and stay safe, Shelleyrae.

  13. Even if you aren’t interested in lots of events, it’s nice that you have the freedom to eat in the dining room and attend events safely. I guess that sounds like things are going well where you are.

I would love to read Notorious RBG. I think I will look for that.

The Library Lost and Found sounds great, too.

    Have a good week!

    1. Yes, it is great to have more freedom. Even if I don’t participate in a lot of the events, it is nice that the possibility is available.

I hope you enjoy the RBG book…and I am glad that I rediscovered and enjoyed The Library of Lost and Found.

      Have a great week, Deb.

  14. That’s great that they are starting to open things up again. I’m sorry there aren’t many things that interest you. I know the feeling. I had hoped when we moved to this community I would be participating in groups more but then the virus came. From the things that have opened, nothing really interests me yet either.

The RBG book looks good. I’ve been thinking of reading books about her lately but haven’t had time with my reading schedule, but eventually I will.

Hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Yvonne, and once we are past this year and when the Pandemic passes, too, eventually…we can start rediscovering the things we enjoy!

Meanwhile, I do love when our shows come back and we get to feel the comfort of the familiar things.

  15. I hope some more interesting activities come up for you! Notorious RBG sounds interesting, I’ve been wanting to read more about here, I’ll have to add it to my list.

Have a great week, and happy reading!

  16. I thought I might have read The Library of Lost and Found, but clicking your link and looking at it more closely, I decided I haven’t! I HAVE read The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick and enjoyed it.
Good to hear your restrictions are loosening. Here in Massachusetts, we’re hearing rumors that they may be tightening up again. 😦

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Laurie, and there are several books with “library” in the title and as a theme, so I often think I have read one of the books when I haven’t yet done so. LOL

I haven’t read The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper, but it sounds good. Off to check it out!

I’m glad things are loosening up a bit where you live. Small things can make a day better. I also hope you have good luck with your reading choices this week. I’m curious about The Notorious RBG but so seldom read nonfiction. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

Yeah Laurel: it’s all exhausting with the daily news & WH … good shows & books are our best escape. We must win in November … that’s all there is to it. Not much news to report from here … everything feels in limbo. Your book with Library in the title … looks like a fun one. Enjoy!

    1. I loved that book, Susan, and I don’t know if I’ll survive another four years with 45! I keep worrying about him finding a way to cheat and win somehow. That would be so disastrous!

I hope that Biden will have a landslide, an indisputable win.

Enjoy your week and your books!

  19. Yes… I’m now more or less acclimatised to Block Editor and have worked out how to do what I want with it. But I do think it is clunkier in many ways.

I think you have absolutely hit the nail on the head, when you mention it’s the little things that can turn a mood around. And I am trying to focus on those, while being truly grateful for the larger things, too. Yes… I completely understand why you wouldn’t be tempted by the Bingo session. And that’s why we have books, baby!! Have a great week, Laurel:).

    1. Thanks, Sarah, I am glad for the few things I am discovering on Block Editor that are helping me along, like the block that is called “Classic.” The closest thing we have to the “old” method.

Some of the residents here are constantly trying to get me to play Bingo. I don’t get the attraction, but then again, maybe they aren’t book lovers. Reading is the best thing for me!
