Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
It is Week Two of Block Editing, and I am finding my way…slowly. As for my reading, not so great. I read two books, and had mixed reactions. But I did write nine posts: I tell myself it is extra practice with this difficult editor.
We are allowed to go to the dining room for all of our meals now, and also attend activities. Distanced and masked. I don’t participate in many events, as I am not interested in a lot of things. Not a bingo player, for example. But there was a Happy Hour event yesterday…so I went to that. Not very exciting, but then again, what can we expect?
Let’s grab some more coffee and take a closer look at the week.
LAST WEEK ON THE BLOGS:
Tuesday Excerpts: “Life in Pieces”
Coffee Chat: Life’s Annoying Moments, Etc.
Bookish Friday: “The Library of Lost & Found”
Saturday Potpourri: Odds & Ends…
Review: The Truth About Melody Browne, by Lisa JewellReview: Life in Pieces, by Dawn O’Porter

INCOMING BOOKS:
One print book arrived from Amazon:
Downloads:
Confessions on the 7:45, by Lisa Unger
Troubles in Paradise, by Elin Hilderbrand
The Beach Club, by Elin Hilderbrand
***
CURRENTLY READING: After finishing my two books this week, I picked up a couple on my Kindle…and then settled on this one, a backlog book:
The Library of Lost and Found, by Phaedra Patrick
***
That was my week! How did your week go? Every day feels like a chore sometimes, but then something happens to brighten things up. A conversation with another resident, a special menu in the dining room, or a good show on Amazon Prime or Netflix. Sometimes it is a simple lunch of banana, cottage cheese, and wheat germ with a good cup of coffee.
***
I have been wanting to read Troubles in Paradise since some time now, I want to check the author’s books out. Hope you enjoy reading them and have a great Sunday!
Here’s my post

I have never been able to get into audiobooks, sigh; I think I just like curling up in a comfy chair and reading. I am too easily distracted when listening.
Thank for stopping by, Kimberly, and enjoy your week.

I want to listen to the Elin Hilderbrand Troubles in Paradise books, I have them marked in Audible. Yes, its really good when something small just brightens our day. Its good you can now get out of your room at least. That has to be something. I want to read about RBG but just need to wait to find the best book about her.

Oh, I know that I kept waiting for the “best” book, but then decided to start with the one that gave her the “Notorious RBG” label, lol.
I loved the movie that came out a couple of years ago: On the Basis of Sex.
I have all the books in the Paradise trilogy, but have only read one so far.
Enjoy your week, Kathryn.

Ooo you’ve had a busy blogging week, so you must be getting better at the new Block Editor, even if it is difficult to use. Well done! I can’t face it, so I am still using my backdoor access to the Classic Editor. 😅 Take care and happy reading in the coming week. 🙂

Thanks for visiting, Jessica, and I lost my back door access to Classic…but one of the Block editor “blocks” is “classic,” so it has some of the familiar elements.
Enjoy your week!

My week felt very, very slow. And I think that’s because we just don’t do very much… I go to work, wear my mask there, and come home. We don’t go out, and we don’t really see anyone, as we try to stay safe and keep the Covid numbers manageable.
I’m glad you have some activities open again, even if some of them don’t really interest you. I think being able to socialize even a little bit is very important for our mental health.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading 🙂

Thanks, Linda, I have enjoyed talking to people in neighboring tables, six feet away, lol; sometimes we walk back to our apartments and linger in the halls, masked, to chat a bit.
I don’t need very much socializing…I get a lot from blog visiting, lol.
Stay safe and enjoy your week.

I agree, life has been difficult this year and we need to look out for the little bits of joy when we see it. A good book, a binge-worthy show on Netflix, a really good cup of coffee!
I haven’t read any of your week’s books, but I certainly want to go look them up. It’s a good time to remember: we are in this together! Thank goodness for book blogger friends 🙂

Do the organized activities include a book club? If not, perhaps you could suggest it or even start one! So much more fulfilling than bingo!

I heard that there is a book club, but I haven’t yet tried it, Cathy. I suspect that I won’t like it unless I find someone in the club who can share thoughts about it first. If that someone reads similar books to mine, that is.
Although it is probably good to get out of our comfort zone when reading.

Sounds like you’re getting to grips with the new editor! I’ve hated the changes made to Blogger so I sympathise but we’ll get there I’m sure! It’s oddly comforting to know that all blogging platforms have their issues and annoyances. 🙂
I think 9 posts is more than I’ve shared in the past 6 weeks so well done on writing so many in a single week! It’s nice having them pre-written/scheduled… Takes the pressure off.
Hope you have a good week!

I am glad that you are able to be out of your room more! And I love that the event that spoke to you was Happy Hour. That would be the one that interested me as well. Lol. Michigan is annoying right now – the Michigan Supreme Court stripped our governor of her emergency powers and wow, what do you know, 10 days later we are experiencing the highest levels we have had in months. 😦
I am happy you are finding those silver linings in every day. We need to do that right now!

Yes… I’m now more or less acclimatised to Block Editor and have worked out how to do what I want with it. But I do think it is clunkier in many ways.
I think you have absolutely hit the nail on the head, when you mention it’s the little things that can turn a mood around. And I am trying to focus on those, while being truly grateful for the larger things, too. Yes… I completely understand why you wouldn’t be tempted by the Bingo session. And that’s why we have books, baby!! Have a great week, Laurel:).

Thanks, Sarah, I am glad for the few things I am discovering on Block Editor that are helping me along, like the block that is called “Classic.” The closest thing we have to the “old” method.
Some of the residents here are constantly trying to get me to play Bingo. I don’t get the attraction, but then again, maybe they aren’t book lovers. Reading is the best thing for me!
