WEEKLY UPDATES: A WEEK OF ENJOYING EACH DAY…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

I am ahead of the game this weekend!  Here I am at 5:48 a.m., ready to talk about my week…and I have read and reviewed three books!  I enjoyed them, too.  I went crazy on the blogs, writing seven posts.  I also viewed The Stranger and Reckoning on Netflix.

In the rest of the week, I have savored the packages arriving regularly from Amazon, mostly household and personal care items, but fun, nevertheless.  And groceries came yesterday via my Instacart app.  I am ready to settle into my cozy space, although today is the day to eat in the dining room.  In some ways, I don’t like having to go there, but then I gather my things from my closet and feel excited about dressing up for an outing.  Not a regular thing around here.

So…first of all, let’s all grab some coffee and take a closer look.

Wow Laurel : you’re early this week. We’ll all need a nap later LOL. Do they let you out for walks outside there? I’m just curious whether it’s too confining. But it’s so hard with the virus. The new top looks great. We need treats these days …. and a Nora Ephron book is always funny too. We are watching some Netflix series this week called The Messiah …. sort of a mystery at this point. Enjoy your new books!

    1. We can go outside on the days that we are eating in the dining room…every other day. And on scheduled half hours on the other days. Not enough. But then, I am an introvert and have cozied up my space. I love books and movies.

Before the Pandemic, I would call Lyft and go shopping or out to lunch with friends. Obviously, those events are in the past….and who knows when they will happen again!

Stay safe and enjoy your week, Susan.

    1. I agree, Heather; I do have to be careful in checking the fabrics…I have gotten some things that wrinkled easily, and even arrived wrinkled! Not fun.

But better things are happening now.

Mostly I buy household items and books.

      Enjoy your week.

    1. I wish I could sew! I did a little of it in high school, in sewing class, but it never came easy for me like it did for my mom.

      Stitch Fix sounds interesting.

I wore the top today and I like how comfortable it was. Thanks for visiting, Mary, and have a great week.

    1. The Amazon deliveries were kind of slow for a while, but lately they have been much better. They do make a difference in my week!

Enjoy your week and your books, Shanaqui, and I’m eager to read Home Before Dark.

  2. There’s something special about Amazon deliveries. 🙂 And wow you did have quite a week! My reading has been down, I really need to up my game haha, but I’ve been mostly watching Netflix to escape the news. 🙂

Love the look of Nomadland, that has me really curious, and Riley Sager as well.

Hope you are having a good weekend!

    1. Thanks, Greg, I’m finding more on Netflix lately, too. I scroll through that site, and also Hulu…or even Amazon Prime. Procrastination, and then I quickly rush through my books. LOL.

I like the sound of Nomadland, too.

      Enjoy your week!

That sounds like a very productive week. I also love getting packages! Even though I get them often it’s always such a treat!

I hope you’ll have a nice dinner! It’s good to have to dress up a little at times right?!

Enjoy your new books and happy reading.

    1. Yes, dressing up is the best thing about eating in the dining room. Not the same as going out to a restaurant, but better, in a way. Cozier.

I am enjoying the tables for one and six feet apart. LOL.

I hope you have a great week, Maureen; stay safe, and enjoy your books.

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, the only thing better would be living in a country like NZ where the leader did the right things, lol.

But meanwhile, we are where we are…and November could bring changes!

Enjoy your week and your books, and stay safe.

    1. I need to figure out how to shop online at my favorite stores. As much as I enjoy the convenience of Amazon, I would love to buy clothes that are familiar to me from shops I’ve enjoyed.

Enjoy your books and your parcels, Jessica, and stay safe.

I am definitely grabbing Abbi Waxman’s book. I loved her other book. And how are you liking the Stranger? I watched a while ago and I think I will prefer the book.

    1. I enjoyed The Stranger, Gayathri, but I might also check out the book.

I finished Season I of Reckoning, and, of course, it stopped on a cliffhanger. Now it will be at least a year for a new season. The worst thing about getting hooked on Netflix shows.

I hope to love Waxman’s book…I’ve enjoyed her others, too. Stay safe and have a great week.

I also picked up a Sandie Jones Book, ‘The Other Woman’ its great even though, I’d hate to be ‘the other woman’ and tend to steer away from these sort of books on president.

  6. Yes, I am also excited when those packages plop through the letterbox! Glad you had such a productive week – and I know what you mean about eating in the dining room, but I suspect that helps the days from blurring into each other… Have a peaceful, healthy week:)

  7. You had a productive week. Lots of reading. Lots of reviews. Lots of blog posts. Excellent.

I’m very curious about your experiences ordering clothes online. A friend dared to go shopping for new clothes here, and found she could not try on clothes at the store. The clerk assured her she could return what she didn’t like, so she bought everything and tried them on at home. She was dismayed to find that nothing fit, and she had to return everything. So I’m a little worried about ordering online.

I’m glad to see how much you loved the new Katherine Center book. And I want to read 28 Summers, too. Nomadland is bad news for America, I think. It was bleak.

    Stay safe.

    1. I have had a couple of mistakes with sizing, but I think I have now figured it out. I still plan to find a way to shop online at familiar stores, those where I have tried on clothes.

Enjoy your books and your week, Deb, and stay safe and well.

  8. That top looks so pretty!! My week has been pretty productive. I’ve been reading and writing blog posts, both things being things I haven’t done in a while. this quarantine messed with my blogging and reading big time. I’m ready for life to get back to normal (or as much as possible) Stay safe and happy reading!

    1. Thanks, Ruby, it is challenging to get much done when we are anxious about the Pandemic and how it has affected our lives. If we follow the rules and stay safe, and if others would do the same, we could topple this thing!

      Enjoy your week.

I’ve heard such good things about Nora Ephron’s writing I really must give her a try. And now to see that you are replacing a copy which you lost or read to death lets me know I should really get with it. Have a good week. My Sunday Salon

  11. Nomadland sounds interesting, given that my husband and I are pretty much living in our RV right now while we travel with his job! He’s a traveling healthcare professional so we spend 3 months in one place and then find somewhere else new and exciting for 3 months. I like being surrounded by my own things so we decided to travel in our RV instead of packing and unpacking in apartments or extended stays every 3 months. I’ve seen plenty of people who are working in ways the book seems to be describing though. Amazon is one company who makes a point of hiring these nomads. We still have our house back home though, so we aren’t completely uprooted. Enjoy your week!

    1. How interesting that you are traveling in your RV. That looks like a good way to do it, too, being surrounded by your own things.

Thanks for visiting, Jen, and enjoy your books and your traveling.

  12. I enjoyed What You Wish For and Stranger in the Lake. It’s getting hot enough I only like to go outside in the morning or after dinner these days. My daughter ordered a huge supply of crafts and so we have been having packages other than my usual Instacart food deliveries.

Have a wonderful week and stay well!

    1. Thanks, Yvonne, it feels like Christmas and birthdays rolled into one when the packages arrive, especially since we can’t go out and shop.

I am really looking forward to 28 Summers…although I do have a couple of her other books still unread.

Enjoy your week and stay safe.

Back to work tomorrow, so I am posting early, too.

Sometimes, a change of pace is good. My father-in-law didn’t much like when they made him eat in the dining room, either, but it was good for him to see people. Though, right now, seeing people can make you nervous.

Great books this week. I Was Told it Would Get Easier needs to go on my wish list.

Hope you have a nice week.

  16. I enjoyed both 28 Summers and Nomadland. Just heard Nomadland is going to be made into a movie… bet it will be interesting. Packages from amazon are a bright spot here, too. Makes me laugh to think that a package with hair products or antacids can cause excitement. Such is the current state of affairs, I guess. Have a good week 🙂

    1. Ha-ha, and yes, whatever we can stock up on is thrilling, JoAnn. We all still remember the empty shelves in the stores, so it’s exciting when we can get things.

I had heard about Nomadland being made into a movie! I hope it comes online quickly, since we can’t go to the theaters.

      Enjoy your week!

I love getting packages from Amazon even it they don’t contain books. I didn’t have nearly as productive a week. I’m listening to a series of audiobooks and each one is longer than the last. The one I just started is more than 19 hours long. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    1. I think packages arriving from Amazon are like gifts from the Universe in these stressful times, because some of the items are scarce these days. But Amazon has them! Some items take a while to come, but when they do, we feel triumphant. LOL.

Enjoy your books. I haven’t listened to books since the days when I had car trips.

Thanks for visiting, Kathy, and stay safe.

I Was Told It Would Get Easier looks like a good read you would enjoy.

  19. Your lists often make me think of vacation reads! Is that what it means to be retired? 😉 I usually listen to Elin Hilderbrand’s books instead of reading them. I guess I should put my name on the mile-long holds list for the library audiobook of 28 Summers! I’ve read one book each by Nora Ephron and Abbi Waxman, but not the ones you’re reading now.

    1. I do believe that retirement changed my reading tastes. It is sort of like a vacation, being able to read whenever and whatever. Of course, the Pandemic has changed the way I read these days. I have more reading slumps and spend more time viewing shows and movies online.

      Thanks for visiting, Laurie.

  20. I always love your Netflix and book choices because, as I’ve said before, they’re so similar to the ones I’d choose or have chosen.
I just went to Amazon to look up I Remember Nothing. It sounds hilarious. I added it to my cart since I’m becoming a woman of a certain age myself and can appreciate any humor about the effects of aging. 🙄
I received Katherine Center’s book, What You Wish For. Your rating has made me even more eager to read it. 😃
I’m currently reading Becoming by Michelle Obama. I’m loving it. And a Heartwarming book that I’m also enjoying. 😊
