This week, I was determined to lighten up my reading, hoping to distract myself in a pleasant way.  I knew that I would also want some kind of mystery to read, too.  I succeeded on both counts…but it took all week to read and review two books.  Not that unusual lately, however.

I wrote only four blog posts, a definitely underwhelming event.

Around the residence, there have been daily changes in our routines and limitations, so I holed up part of the time in my apartment rearranging the furniture.  The space is small, but I had been thinking of how I wanted my space to look.  I moved the computer from the back wall next to the TV…to a corner by the window.  And rearranged the other furniture around it.

So while I was rearranging things and reading my books, I could almost forget about how isolated I am feeling right now.  Blogging and reading do help.  Then I watched the new Little Women movie on Amazon Prime.

Amazon packages continue to arrive regularly.  Let’s take a closer look at the week:

CURRENTLY READING:

For a few weeks, I have been reading Wallis in Love, by Andrew Morton.  Since I only pick it up between my other books, I am only about halfway finished.  But I’m enjoying it.

This week I also want to read The Other Mrs., by Mary Kubica.

That was my week.  What did yours look like?  I have no goodies to share this week, but I think fondly of this pumpkin pie and ice cream treat I had a while ago.

  1. It is so hard right now, there is so much uncertainty and fear! I hope things settle down for you a bit there- I can imagine they are probably changing things up daily and it would definitely be frustrating. I don’t do well with constant change lol!

    Goodman’s latest has looked good to me and I need to try Kubica also.

I am sorry to hear you are feeling isolated – Please know we are always with you online ❤ Currently, schools are still open here so I am still at work, but they are starting to cancel big events. I hope you and your loved one stay safe, healthy and happy. Try to have a good, if quiet week and happy reading. 🙂

    Hope things get better for ya. I’ve been doing my best to keep hard. Having a mother who passed down her idiosyncrasities (spelling?) to me has never been easy.

    It’s good to distract yourself with reading & movies! The new Little Women is terrific. Hope you liked it. We just watched Knives Out last night and liked it enough and we might watch Jojo Rabbit next. I’m on the library wait list for A Good Neighborhood …. and I’m thinking of My Dark Vanessa though the subject matter is a bit dicey eh? Keep us posted and try not to go stir crazy. I’m trying hard myself …. if they shut everything down we will see.

    1. Thanks, Susan, I am trying to keep things in perspective, but everyday the staff at this place hand down new and more restrictive rules! Luckily, while they can now lock out visitors, they can’t prevent me and others in my situation from going out.

      However, the empty shelves in the stores do not help!

      I did enjoy Little Women and have added Knives Out to my queue.

  12. I think it might be fun to have time to rearrange. Your changes look good.
    The older generations do need more care. My husband has all the risk factors so he is not going out and I have to be careful not to bring any bugs home.
    The important thing is to stay calm and do what we can individually to stay safe.

  13. I’m glad you were able to find some solace in reading and rearranging your room. Every little thing helps. My mom who is living two hours away has had to isolate herself too, and while we know it’s necessary, it’s still difficult. Thankfully she loves reading too!

    I also received My Dark Vanessa this week, I’m really looking forward to reading it.

    1. Thanks, Kay, and I do feel sorry for those who are quarantined without the love of books to sustain them!

      Enjoy your week, and I’m already adjusting to the isolation. Probably because introverts like me have a bit of the hermit in them. LOL

  15. I know you enjoy tinkering with your space, I expect you’ll have plenty of time to do so over the next few weeks. Isolation really is so important for the moment, you do not want to end up with this, or any bug, right now.

    Enjoy your new Amazon arrivals. I think you’ll like The Operator though I didn’t care for it much personally.

    1. Thanks, Shelleyrae, good health to you and yours, too. I think bookish people are blessed in that we love isolation in which to immerse ourselves in our books. And rearrange our spaces.

      Before I came to this residence, I could go days without seeing people. LOL.

  16. I didn’t realize the newest Little Women was on Prime. I’ll probably discover many movies/tv shows are available the next few weeks. I don’t have school-age kids any more but my daughter’s kids are out for the next month. I have a feeling it will be a looooooong month for them.

    1. Thanks, Mary, whenever a movie has hit the Big Screen, I start scrolling to find out when it will show up on Prime. Usually we can pre-order the ones we want.

      I am very glad not to have school age children to worry about right now, although my youngest grandson, age 17, is dealing with this. At least he is at an age when he can communicate online with friends.

    1. Thanks, Kathy, I feel kind of lucky that I actually enjoy alone time…books, movies, etc., but I will miss my outings to the restaurants. Sigh.

    1. Yes, that is happening here, too. It is very weird, and it is unfortunate that the administration has been so slow to respond, thus creating an even bigger crisis.

    1. Thanks, Jinjer, I hope you enjoy it! We just got word that we are all on lockdown here, restricted to our apartments. We can’t leave the building, either! Prison, right?

      I’m glad I already rearranged my space to make it more cozy.
