Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
The week went so fast that I didn’t accomplish as much reading and blogging as I wanted. I read two books and wrote three blog posts. I did run around with my daughter and my granddaughter, getting ready for the Big Surgery Day on Monday. Yesterday was a fun day of lunch with my daughter and grandson and dinner with my granddaughter. My daughter brought this cute little microwave for my tiny kitchen…and some goodies for the fridge.
Here they are at the Mad Duck restaurant. They wouldn’t let me snap a shot of them with their food. LOL.
Let’s grab some coffee and take a peek at my week:
LAST WEEK ON THE BLOGS:
Tuesday Excerpts: “The Bookish Life of Nina Hill”
Bookish Friday: “Things You Save in a Fire”
Review: Because You’re Mine, by Rea Frey – (NG-8/6)Review: We Are All Good People Here, by Susan Rebecca White-(NG-8/6)

WHAT’S UP NEXT?
Currently Reading: The Bookish Life of Nina Hill, by Abbi Waxman. I’m loving it!
“Meet our bookish millennial heroine—a modern-day Elizabeth Bennet, if you will… Waxman’s wit and wry humor stand out. She is funny and imaginative, and “Bookish” lands a step above run-of-the-mill romantic comedy fare.”—The Washington Post
I will also begin reading my final August ARC: Things You Save in a Fire, by Katherine Center (NG 8/13).

How was your week? What are you eagerly anticipating in the upcoming weeks? Here are some goodies in my tiny fridge, compliments of my daughter’s shopping trip to Trader Joe’s.

I love your apartment/condo so much! The little tiny microwave is TOO cute. Can’t go wrong with yummy Trader Joes goodies. Awwww come on, cute grandkids! We want to see what you ordered to eat. LOL
Good luck with your surgery on Monday!!!!!

All the best for the surgery on Monday – and wishing you a very speedy recovery. I am listening to the Abbi Waxman book at the moment, it feels a little slow, but possibly the nature of it as I only listen to about 30 min a day.

Thanks, Kathryn, I have never managed to listen to more than a little bit of an audiobook. Someday, perhaps? Enjoy your week.

You are reading two books I can’t wait to read! I’ve been waiting and waiting for Bookish Life and the new Katherine Center book. Katherine Center is from Houston and I’ve been fortunate enough to meet her at the library conference. She’s just as charming in person as she seems from her stories. I can’t wait to see what you think about these books!
I’m sending best wishes for good doctoring and quick and thorough healing for your surgery!

Good luck with your surgery– and when it’s done– enjoy your cute little apartment and all your books. I want the Katherine Center one!
I know the last time I had major surgery I really didn’t want to do anything but watch mindless tv for a while, and then my reading mojo came back. Your family is very good to you– that’s such a plus these days of scattered families. I’ll say a prayer that your recovery will be swift!

Thanks, Rita, I have been obsessed with the prep details, to avoid thinking about the surgery.
I have plenty of books to immerse myself in.
Enjoy your week.

I love the kitchen! You might have a red theme going on like my parents did with their red microwave. If you like “Things you save in a fire” you might like “The stars are fire” by Anita Shrieve, a historical novel: Five months pregnant, Grace Holland is left alone to protect her two toddlers when her husband, Gene, joins the volunteer firefighters. (It was so memorable to me!)

Thanks, Trin, I do love red…you may have noticed that the paper towel holder is also red. I used to have a red coffeepot as well. LOL
I like Anita Shreve’s books, so I’m going to check out The Stars Are Fire.
Enjoy your week.

I apprently haven’t been paying attention. Did you just move to a retirement center? Why the tiny kitchen otherwise? And who is having surgery? You? God be with you. My Sunday Salon

Thanks, Anne, and yes, it’s an assisted living place, but I’m in the independent section. I have my own place, but it is small. I’m having gall bladder surgery tomorrow. Here’s hoping it goes well.

Love the red microwave. I’m sure it will take some getting used to being in a smaller space, but it will work out.
I really want to read The Bookish Life of Nina Hill, but I have so many books to review right now.
Hope you have a wonderful week.

I didn’t love my surgery, which didn’t happen once they did the laparoscopic exploration and decided removal would be too risky right now. Too much scar tissue and inflammation! Plan B.

Thanks, Yvonne, I was disappointed by today’s surgery, which basically stopped after the laparoscopic exploration. Too risky to remove the gall bladder, as the scar tissue and inflammation were extensive. Back to the drawing board!

My surgery didn’t get past the laparoscopic exploration, which revealed too much scar tissue, inflammation, etc., so a new plan will be developed. Sigh.

Thanks, Erin, and the surgery turned out to be a laparoscopic view of the interior…and they decided to wait. Too much inflammation, scar tissue, etc. But I still had anesthesia and the breathing tube, so I feel as though I’ve had surgery. Sigh.
