WEEKLY UPDATES: ANOTHER WEEK, MORE READING…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

I think my reading is finally on track!  I read and reviewed three books this week.  I feel almost back to normal…or as much as I can be in a completely new space with new routines.  I am walking well, with the assistance of my cane…and actually dispense with it almost entirely within my apartment.

My favorite activities include movies and shows on Prime (Big Little Lies), Hulu (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Netflix (Dead to Me), which I really liked.  Sadly, I now I have to wait for Season II with the eagerness I always feel in these situations.

Let’s grab some coffee and look at the details of my week.

  1. I’m really liking Big Little Lies so far with S2. And yay for three books! Glad you’re starting to feel comfortable in your new place. It’s always hard getting used to new surroundings.

    Hope you’re having a good weekend! 🙂

My reading week was sort of meh last week. It took me five days to get through “The Summer Guests” by Mary Alice Monroe. I found this one to be sort of average, and didn’t enjoy it as much as I usually like her books. Then I read The Perfect Alibi by Phillip Margolin this was a fast pretty easy read. I didn’t read the first book in the series yet but I enjoyed this one well enough that I would read more from him. Finally, I started The Summer of 69 yesterday so far so good its very interesting to read about this time period I was just 5 years old that summer so I don’t really remember it.
I’m glad you are settling in to your new place and back to reading and blogging.

Happy Blogoversary to you a day late.

    1. Thanks, Susan, I completely forgot about the blogoversary! Since I have six blogs, they tend to blur together.

1969 and the subsequent decade were defining moments for me, so I’m eagerly looking forward to Summer of ’69.

      Enjoy your week!

  3. I read and enjoyed the new Gudenkauf, though I enjoy all her books, practically a given.
I do want to read Summer of ’69 in this month or next, and love that cover!
Glad you are getting around much better. I hope you’re not in too much pain doing it. Slow and steady wins the race 🙂

I didn’t enjoy the second season of Handmaid’s tale. But I am liking the Big Little Lies and I am yet to see Dead to me. And three books a week is a good score. I hope you have a great week ahead.

I’m glad you are feeling better and reading more. I really want to read Summer of ’69. That looks great. I’m on the waiting list at the library. I finished Dead to Me and enjoyed it. Big Little Lies is off to a great start this season too.

Hope you have a great week!

  6. Go you for sorting out your new surroundings so effectively. It’s the third most stressful Life Event behind bereavement and divorce – moving… I hope the coming week is more relaxing, Laurel.

  8. Now I’m even more excited to start Dead to Me. Everyone’s been on me about watching it and I hear nothing but good things about it, so I’m looking forward to that. I’m glad to see you’ve gotten back into the swing of things! Also, ah, Summer of ’69 sounds SO brilliant and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

  9. This is the most positive, upbeat post in a while! I’m so glad you’re feeling better and finding your groove in the new space… sounds like routines are starting to fall into place, too. All good news! I’m on the hold list for Elin Hilderbrand’s new book and hope to read it sometime this summer. Your dessert looks yummy, too!

  10. I’m glad to hear you are settling into your new routine. I haven’t watched Big Little Lies yet, I’m waiting a little so that I can sit and watch many episodes at once. And I want to read Before She Was Found too, I hope you enjoy it. Have a great week!

Three reviews in a week is great. It is good to see you are getting through your TBR. I get depressed thinking how far behind I am so I’m trying to take it one step at a time and just read what I can in my limited time.

    1. Thanks, Diane, I have improved to the point where I am noticing the things that don’t set well with me…and voicing my complaints. LOL.

Hopefully, the complaints will bring about changes.

      Enjoy your week.
