WEEKLY UPDATES: MOVING FORWARD…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Another week has flown by, with only two books read and reviewed.  But…my interior world is growing cozier, with the help of family, like my granddaughter Fiona who came by on Tuesday to unpack boxes and shred things…and then hung favorites on the wall, like this banner in my entry way.

On Thursday, we ran errands (which means I sat in the car while she drove)…and one of these errands was for a mani-pedi…and lunch at CPK.

My routines are becoming more relaxed…and I am enjoying shows on Netflix (Dead to Me)  and on Prime: Big Little Lies Season II.

Let’s grab some coffee…and take a closer look at my reading/blogging week.

MY BLOGGING WEEK:

CURRENTLY READING:

Little Darlings, by Melanie Golding

I have no ARCs to read and review before July…so I will happily relax for a bit and read from my TBR.  Then I have SIX  ARCs coming in August!

***

That was my week.  Moving along slowly and rediscovering my feet…literally.  I have graduated to a cane.  Who knows what could happen next.  Exercise classes?

What was your week like?  Enjoy your reading, blogging, and adventures.

  1. Sounds like you’re getting back to yourself more and more everyday. Glad you have family nearby to help you! I worked everyday with a few doubles and next week is the same. I’m so behind on reading and reviews.

    1. Thanks, Vicki, I could use a few more of my favorite books…and my daughter brought over a bookshelf I had in my bedroom. I may need to revisit the old apartment one more time to grab some books.

      Enjoy your week.

  2. You made me smile with the exercises photo at the end. Good to hear you are graduated to a cane and are finding your way through this setback. Two books in the week is great with all the change you’ve had.

  3. Mmm pizza- yummy. I’d probably like CPK lol. Glad you had fun and are getting your feet under you again, so to speak. It must be nice to be settling in a bit, I imagine. Hope you are feeling well!

Big Little Lies started out well, I thought.

  4. Rain, I am so sorry to hear about your injury (I was lurking around before coming back now to blogging). But your a strong person and will overcome these new challenges as you go along. And hurray for Fiona and the rest of your family and friends for helping you get settled. The small reminders from your previous place will make this more like home for you.

On the bookish side, I am wanting to read that DeMaio book (but want to try to get to her earlier ones in the series first), and also After the End. Enjoy settling into your new routine and all the books that you read this week!

Mani-padi’s lucky you! I’ll probably be graduating to a cane in the next fifteen years. Along with my achondroplasia is terrible pain. Sorry for the pity party, but it’s been interesting talking to doctors these last weeks and hearing the newest innovations for those with leg conditions.

That banner looks lovely. I hope you get all settled in pretty soon. I am craving for a mani pedi session already. I hope you have a great week ahead.

  8. It sounds like another week of solid progress and settling in. So glad Fiona was around to help out with the decorating and errands… especially the mani-pedi!! Congrats on graduating to the cane. The exercise photo made me smile. Hope this upcoming week is just as good!

  9. I’m so glad to see that your life has gotten back to some semblance of normalcy. I hope that you continue to improve physically and that you are able to get around well. I tripped on the curb at the grocery store today and hit my cheek on the sidewalk. Ouch. That makes the fifth time I’ve fallen in the last two years. I am hereby vowing to be more careful.

It will be nice that you can take a break during July and then get back at reviewing and blogging hard in August.

    Have a great week!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Deb; so sorry about the trip and fall.

After my Big Awful, I lost confidence in my ability to navigate. I’m slowly getting it back.

I like feeling almost normal again. Enjoy your week.

I haven’t written a Sunday Post this week but thought I’d still visit some friendly bloggers 😉

Ooh, I can’t remember the last time I had a mani-pedi ❤ I must try to book one this summer. I did enjoy the last season of Big Little Lies but haven't started watching season 2; I felt they just wanted to cash in on a success, I wasn't sure where they'd take the characters and my warm fuzzy feeling for it would be corrupted.

I hope you have a great week and enjoy your reads, Laurel-Rain. x.

  11. You never know, you just may be a whiz at an exercise class!! I enjoyed Dead To Me and look forward to another season. Big Little Lies is up next starting with Season 1. So glad you are making your new place more homier and settling in with the help of family! You are blessed to have them close. Have a great week.

    1. Thanks, Sarah, it is hard to believe that I’ve only been at this new place for three weeks…and that this whole new chapter started a little over a month ago! So much can change in a short time.

I’m trying to keep a positive attitude.

      Enjoy your week.

  12. I’m glad to hear you have family to come and help you through all these changes! A mani-pedi and restaurant combo sounds like a great way to spend time together, too.

I’ve been wanting to watch Dead to Me, it’s on my list, but I’ve heard great things about it, as I have about Little Darlings. I wish you a great week!

  13. I’ve never had a mani-pedi, I only put on nail polish about once a year, but it sounds like a you had a great day with Fiona.
Does your new residence have a community library? My grandparents place did and they donated a lot of their books to it. That way they still had them near, and got to share them. If not, maybe it’s something you can consider creating.
So glad you are finding your feet

    Have a great reading week

    1. Thanks, Shelleyrae, there is a library here…I have yet to explore it, since my trusty Kindle is nearby.

I never had mani-pedis, except for special occasions, until post-retirement. Now I seem to love them!

      Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Kathy, I like how each day seems to bring improvements, like walking around with my cane…and sometimes all on my own. But the walker is still nearby for long walks and outdoor activities. It has only been a little over a month since everything happened, so I feel encouraged.

      Enjoy your week.

I’m glad to hear that things are improving for you. I have 3 review books for July to read soon since I’m into my July calendar. But I’m caught up in rereading the Sherlock Holmes/Mary Russell mysteries. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I’m glad you are settling into your new home. I finished watching Dead To Me on Netflix. I enjoyed that. I just finished the new season of Designated Survivor on Netflix and that was good. I’m watching Big Little Lies too. Hope you have a great week!

Glad to see you settled in. Exercise classes! I love them and loath them at the same time. I hate going and when I’m there I just want it to be over but the next day I feel so good and pain free. I know it’s all worthwhile.

    Laurel,

I know you had several blogs and this one wasn’t on my blogroll (until now) so I’ve been wondering what was going on with you as you seemed MIA. I am so sorry you’ve had a rough time and have had a bit of an upheaval in your life. Hopefully your mending progresses and the surgery goes well. (I had my GB removed at 50). Enjoy your new place and happy you are finding your rhythm once again.

    1. Thanks, Diane, I thought I was rolling along in my routines, with no worries…and then I woke up on the floor, unable to get up. I was in the hospital for a few days, and then stayed at my daughter’s until they found this senior living residence, with levels of care. I’m pretty independent; I’m going through physical therapy, though, to improve navigation. My kids all freaked out, and yes, that day could have ended badly. I wasn’t ready to change my way of life, but I’m trying to adapt. There are some positives, like cooking, cleaning, and laundry are all provided, and my little apartment is shaping up into a home.

I hope the surgery goes well, and that I can resume many of my former activities.
