Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

I finally finished my third book of the week.  My pattern remained similar to previous weeks.  The first book flew by, the second one competed with other activities, and I was still reading the third one this morning (Saturday).  But I enjoyed each book.  I’m feeling a little under the weather, with a sore throat…unusual for me, since I take allergy pills and other medication for these issues.  I always suspect something in the air, and I did go out and about more this week.

I enjoyed my usual TV shows, although I still have a few to watch on the DVR.  I started a new Netflix series: Northern Rescue, with William Baldwin and Kathleen Robertson.  I also watched some old favorite movies, including one of my old DVDs, St. Elmo’s Fire, a Brat Pack film from the 80s that takes me back to my younger days.

It was a pretty good blogging week, too, and I had fun making new headers for some of my sites.

Let’s grab some more coffee…or even some tea for my sore throat…and take a closer look at my week.

That was my week.  What did yours look like? Last week, I enjoyed a slice of pumpkin pie a la mode…and forgot to post it!

  1. I’ve heard good things about Mrs. Everything. Wasn’t Sunset Beach a fun read? I really hope she continues with these characters. Have a good week, Laurel, and I hope your throat feels better quickly.

  2. I just finished Someone Always Knows the other day. I ended up liking it better than I thought I would after I had read all the mixed reviews on Goodreads. I guess the bottom line is people have to read and see for themselves if they will like it or not.

  3. Glad it was a good week (other than the sore throat). Hope you’re feeling better soon! And St. Elmo’s Fire- wow I remember that one! Good times. 🙂

The Long Call seems to be popping up everywhere. And I love the look of I Know Who You Are as well.

    • Thanks, Kathryn, I am glad you enjoyed the header at Rainy Days and Mondays. It took a while experimenting with themes and headers.

I woke up this morning feeling better…yesterday’s tea and Airborne worked…there is a little bit of dryness still…so more of the same today.

Enjoy your reading and your week.

    • Thanks for visiting, Elizabeth, and I’m not used to having sore throats these days (post-retirement), since I am not around sick people and kids with runny noses any more. LOL.

My youngest grandson was sick last week, though, and we spent time together on Sunday. But…I think my allergies are to blame, as I feel better this morning. Knock wood.

      Enjoy your week!

  4. I hope you soon feel a lot better, Laurel – there’s also a lot going around here, too. I’m intrigued to see that you have got an Anne Cleves – with the start of new series. I hope you enjoy it. And thank you for posting the pie – I’m going to virtually consume it and tell myself I’m full as the Easter break has left me needing to shed some pounds! Have a good week.

    • Thanks, Trin, I loved Good in Bed, too…and In Her Shoes. I have the movie of that one. I also have one of her nonfiction books, resting quietly on my Kindle: Hungry Heart. I plan to read it soon!

      I’m enjoying Someone Knows.

      Have a great week.

  5. I’m trying to imagine a world where everyone in the world consistently read three books a week….It would be a much better world, wouldn’t it? It certainly makes me a happier person when I read well.

I hope you are feeling better soon. I hate feeling sick. Maybe it’s just an allergy.

    • Thanks, Deb, and since i’m feeling better this morning, after lots of tea and Airborne yesterday, I am convinced it was an allergy. Or I headed off a virus. I’ll take it!

I also think the world needs more readers. Wouldn’t that be great?

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting.

  6. I am sorry you are not feeling well! I have honey in my tea every day and I think it helps with my allergies. 🙂 And chocolate is supposed to help too, I think….either way chocolate is good right? Lol.

I love St. Elmo’s Fire!! And Rob Lowe! Lol. Have a great day!

    • Thanks, Erin, I need to buy some honey when I shop later today. It is so soothing. I vote for chocolate as an antidote to almost anything…LOL.

Rob Lowe is one of my favorites from back in the day, and while he was fun as a young actor, and I loved him in St. Elmo’s Fire, he only got better with age. I especially enjoyed him in the series Brothers and Sisters.

Thanks for visiting, and have a great week.

  7. Yummy pie! I hope you feel better this week. I have been trying to hop around to everyone today and tomorrow. I didn’t get much reading done this week and that is ok. Have a wonderful week coming.

  8. I take Zyrtec and/or Allegra for allegries, but some times of the year (spring, especially) are just bad for me, no matter what I take, so I can relate. I can’t believe you forgot to post your pumpkin pie, especially a la mode. But now I’m hungry! Think I’ll have to go find something. 🙂

    • Thanks, Bryan, I also take Zyrtec and some asthma medicine. I’m wondering if I also need a nasal spray. Most of the time my meds keep things under control.

I’m glad I found the pumpkin pie photo. Enjoy your week.

  9. St. Elmo’s Fire is a blast from the past… I remember enjoying that back in the day! Mrs. Everything looks good, as does the pumpkin pie. Not sure why I never think to make it except in the fall. Hope you’re feeling better today.

    • Thanks, JoAnn, I love watching movies that I enjoyed in the past.

      I am feeling better today.

I never make pumpkin pie anymore, but I am glad for Marie Callender’s around the corner.

      Looking forward to Mrs. Everything.

      Enjoy your week.

  10. Is Northern Rescue any good? I haven’t heard what that one’s about. All the books look good that you’re getting, especially perhaps the Hepworth novel The Mother in Law. Enjoy your week!

    • Thanks, Susan, I’m enjoying it so far. William Baldwin plays a father to teens; their mother has died, so they move to a small town where he’s been hired to run a rescue team.

The kids are angry and they all have adjustment issues.

I’m excited about my books. Enjoy your week.

  11. I’m sorry to hear you aren’t feeling well. Hope you feel better soon.

I’ve heard about Northern Rescue. It looks good. Once I catch up with the shows on my DVR I’ll have to check it out.

The Long Call looks really good. So do all of your books. I hope you enjoy them.

    Have a great week!

    • Thanks, Yvonne, I’ve been staying inside, sipping juice and tea…and I feel better. I think it was allergies. But I decided not to go out, like I had planned. I’m curled up with Someone Knows, which I’m enjoying.

Have you watched shows based on Ann Cleeve’s books, like Shetland?

I think I will watch more from Northern Rescue. Enjoy your week.

    • Thanks, Trish, I haven’t seen any movies in this era that have grabbed me like those brat pack movies, probably because those films do resurrect my younger years. I was older than a teen then, but still a teen at heart. LOL.

      Enjoy your week!

  12. Oh no, I hope you feel better soon!

I added The Missing Years to my shelf this week too, and The Mother-in-Law has been on my radar. I also want to read Mrs. Everything when it comes out. I hope you enjoy them all, happy reading!

  13. I hope you are feeling better. I’ve been coughing and sneezing despite my allergy meds too. I also added The Long Call to my review list. Come see my week here. Happy reading.

  14. I’ll have to check out the Netflix show … we a have few to finish before I want to start a new one, though. I almost started I Know Who You Are yesterday, but turned to something else instead.

  15. Wild Fire was my first read by Anne Cleeves and I loved it so I’m really interested in reading The Long Call. I hope you enjoy the Mother-In-Law. It was a fabulous read even though I found it a little depressing. I like this cover more than the Australian one.
