WEEKLY UPDATES: AN ENGAGING WEEK…WITH SUNSHINE

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

A lovely week of sunshine, offering a great mix of outings and time to curl up indoors.  With a Kindle, you can head off anywhere to read.  I managed to read and review three books this week, and they were all completely engaging.  I viewed my usual favorite shows, including The Act on Hulu and The Good Fight on CBS-All Access. On Thursday, I hung out with my daughter at the salon for my “styling,” followed by lunch with my youngest son, visiting this week from the Far North.

I struggled with blog commenting, a recent development that seemed to come out of nowhere.  I finally turned to the Google Chrome browser for most of my blog hopping.  It works…and I’m learning how to navigate there.

This week brought FOUR review books.  So, more about that, and my reading…after you grab some coffee with me and take a closer look.

  1. We had a week of beautiful sunshine, too, and I was able to spend it in Austin at the library conference. I picked up lots of new review books there, and made some nice contacts.

I love the look of the books you received this week. You always seem to run across wonderful fiction reads.

That is quite clever of you, to save half for Easter!

    Have a great week!

  2. The Cue Card

Wow Clare Macintosh is sure writing books quickly these days. It seems like just the other day her book I Let You Go and I See You were out. I liked her first one. I like Alafair Burke too. I read her book The Ex. I hope you enjoy both. Have a great Easter & week!

  3. Oh yes, it was such a bright and beautiful sunshiny week over here too! It was a little hot here Thursday and Friday with highs in the 90’s. I got my hair done this week too! It’s always so nice to get pampered! Enjoy all of your wonderful book goodies! Happy Easter!

  4. Good the Chrome browser is working for you, that’s the one I use all the time but I do believe Firefox is good. The early turkey dinner looks entirely yummy. You must have some very good restaurants nearby. Enjoy all those books, they are better than Easter eggs!

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, I have always stuck to Firefox, but then when the commenting issue came up, it forced me to try new things. My eldest son goes back and forth between browsers…and I guess that’s what I’ll be doing. For blog hopping, it’s Chrome.

I do live within a couple of miles of two big shopping centers with lots of restaurants, shops, movie theaters, etc. I don’t have to drive far to do whatever I want…mostly.

I agree about the books…I can’t think of anything better…except good food with the books. Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Mary, I don’t know why I decided to try Chrome, but since the comment problems were on Blogger (Google), it occurred to me that Chrome might be compatible. I hope you get yours sorted, too.

Enjoy your week, and I have loved Mackintosh’s previous books, so I’m eager to read this one.

  5. Wasn’t great here with the sunshine this week, but did end well yesterday with sunshine when rain was predicted. So I was able to get out and spend more time outside than I had planned. I use Chrome too for my blog hopping…and a combination of Feedly and Pocket. And Notepad (open on the side and another program called TurboTop to keep Notepad on top of the other programs). Today, I’m chilling to music this morning (a Classical Easter Celebration on Google Play Music or was) and plan on reading more of All Things Wise and Wonderful by James Herriot as part of an impromtu readathon this weekend.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Bryan, and I’ve never used Feedly or Pocket…or Notepad…sounds like I have some exploring to do.

Music is always a great accompaniment to morning activities. Enjoy your day and your week.

    1. Thanks for visiting, JoAnn, I’m frustrated with Blogger, but now that I’m blog hopping with Google Chrome, I’m good.

I’m not sure why I decided to try Chrome, but because it’s Google, I thought it might work.

      Happy Easter!

  6. We had some sunshine here too this weekend, and it felt to good! I also really enjoy The Good Fight, but I haven’t watched the new season yet.
Before She Was Found sounds good, I hope you enjoy it and your other new books. Happy reading!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Kay, and I am excited about Before She Was Found, too. The Good Fight is one of those shows that I love, and I really enjoy that it’s a streaming show…no commercials!

      Enjoy your week.

  7. I love Chrome, it’s definitely the best of the browsers imo.
I’ve been struggling with commenting lately… Time has not been my friend and I’m trying to limit when I go on the laptop (as I spend waaaayy too much time on it) so it’s all ganging up on me, lol. I’ll get caught up eventually. 🙂

I hope you have a good week!

  8. It sounds like you had a fun, busy week. I bet the best part was spending time with your daughter and your son.

I’ve seen other people say they’ve had problems commenting on blogger blogs. I’ve used Chrome for a while and haven’t had those problems.

Your new books look good, especially We Are All Good People here. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks, Kathy, and Chrome has definitely solved those issues for me. I had thought about trying that browser for other reasons, too…so now it’s great to have more blogging possibilities.

I did love the family time. I just finished Sunset Beach…and I loved it!

      Enjoy your week.

  9. I am relieved to hear I wasn’t the only one struggling to comment on blogs last week. It was so frustrating. It seems to be working , for the most part, this week. Fingers crossed. Looks like you had a lovely week.

  10. I have had trouble with commenting on Safari on my Mac, my iPhone, and my iPad so I am using Firefox. I “think” it has something to do with Google Plus. When they removed Google Plus, this all happened.

I am glad I can use another browser. Glad you have another browser to use too.

NICE week for you – I am not sure I want to read the new Clare Mackintosh book. It sounds really different, but I’ll wait to see what your thoughts are.

BEFORE SHE WAS FOUND looks good.

I hope you LOVE EMILY, GONE.

    Have a good week, Laurel.

  11. Glad you had a good week.
I use Firefox primarily but have Google and Edge too. I haven’t noticed trouble commenting but I rarely go back in to check. (No time.)
It looks like you got some good new books to read. I really am interested in After the End. Nice turkey plate. 🙂
    Happy Reading!

  12. Warm spring weather and reading, what could be better? I have a hard time commenting on blogs from my phone – I can’t log in to my wordpress no matter what I do. I wonder if it is a similar issue to what you are experiencing? I can do it from my laptop using Chrome though. Good luck!

      1. Thanks, Erin, I used to be able to log-on to WP and even Blogger from my iPhone, but now nothing works except Chrome. So glad I discovered that, though.

I’ve read that many are having the same problems with Blogger…so we’re thinking something glitched when they did away with Google +.

I hope you have a great week, too!
