Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
What a great week! Nice weather, for the most part. I read and reviewed three engaging books, watched some movies, and spent Friday in the salon getting hair and nails done. I was totally unplugged on Friday, enjoying the pampering and finishing my third book. Movies viewed: Green Book and If Beale Street Could Talk. And on CBS All Access, I enjoyed The Good Fight. So…while March Madness took over the TV screens, it didn’t ruin my viewing.
I’m still feeling the book love from last night…so let’s grab more coffee (or tea) and take a closer look at the week.
LAST WEEK ON THE BLOGS:
Tuesday Excerpts: “The Liar’s Child”
Coffee Chat: Books, Movies, & Memories…

That was my week…what did yours look like? Here is some comfort food I enjoyed on Friday (yummy pot roast and a glass of wine).

Sure sounds like a good week and good to see you have the new Kelly Rimmer book – she really writes well. I haven’t done much viewing although have now finished all seasons of Brothers and Sisters. I can see why it ended after season five, but was a good series.

Thanks, Kathryn, I’m glad you enjoyed Brothers and Sisters, and I’m eager to read the new Kelly Rimmer.
Have a great week!

How did you like Green Book and Beale Street? We just watched Beale Street too and my husband thought it was slow but I liked it …. frustrating on having the character stuck in prison. I’m curious about The Ash Family but some thought the writing was choppy. Let us know if you like it.

Thanks, Susan, I thought they were both really good, but Green Book was the better of the two.
I hope to enjoy The Ash Family.

I tend to avoid March Madness too. I mean I like a good basketball game, I guess, but a month of college games. Nah lol. Glad you had a good week though, and three good books is awesome!
that pot roast looks delicious!

Thanks, Greg, I was quite pleased with my books and my viewing, although I don’t like when any event takes over the network. But it’s great that we have other options.
Enjoy your week.

What a great week in books. And I’m loving the spring weather here too. I unplugged for the weekend and spent time outdoors. No telly and just books!

I just started Maid last night. It is a fast read.
I like the idea of taking a day off social media each week. That would have been a good resolve for Lent.
I hope you have a lovely week!

Thanks, Deb, I hadn’t planned to remain totally unplugged, but I was so enjoying it that I just stayed off my laptop. I admit I did check my phone a couple of times, so I guess “totally unplugged” wasn’t completely accurate.
I read a book about a woman who was checking her social media while supposedly watching her children and a neighbor’s child…and the child went missing. Cautionary tale.
Enjoy your week!

I liked Green book and it was totally heartwarming. I was thinking that this is not as boring and dreadful as the other award winners. Ha ha. I hope you have a great week ahead.

Thanks, Gayathri, I am always worried that film winners will be boring (I still think of Chariots of Fire in the 80s!). I zoned out on that one.
Green Book kept my interest throughout, and the lead actor, whose name I can’t pronounce, was awesome.
Enjoy your week!

Thanks, Trin, I realized that I need to do more unplugged and pampered days. Monday is usually a day reserved for kicking back with no appointments. It’s a rule I made for myself. But Fridays…not usually that kind of day.
Enjoy your week.

Thanks, Trin, I am loving the MIchelle book, in bits and pieces. One of these days, I’ll make real progress on it, but now I’m savoring it.
The pot roast at Marie Callender’s is more like my mom’s, but I also love the French Pot Roast at Mimi’s. I may have to get some of that again soon.
Enjoy your week.

Thanks, Sarah, I do hope the upcoming week will be a good one for reading and blogging, but already I know there will be days I won’t enjoy, like Tuesday, with my annual physical appointment.
I’ll probably do errands that day, too, since I’ll be out and about. Enjoy your week.

Ah well… if we didn’t have the meh days, I suppose we couldn’t then properly appreciate the awesome ones. I hope the physical goes well on Tuesday!

Well you had a really great week with reading and pampering. I think the nicer weather is helping everyone feel better with more energy. I’m glad you enjoyed Liar’s Child. I did but I couldn’t figure out what the deal was with Sara at the end. Did she stay in the program or did she go her own way?
Hope your next week is even better! Happy reading.

Thanks, Anne, I wish that Sara’s destiny had been clearer, but I got the sense that she went her own way, but also stayed in touch with the children as they grew, showing up at events.
Enjoy your week, and let’s hope for continued good weather.

Thanks, Irena, I really enjoyed Green Book, and had an emotional reaction to the racist occurrences throughout. It reminded me of those days back in the 60s…and how we are not necessarily beyond those times and issues, especially now.
Enjoy your books.

Hi Lorraine,
Get you girl! Hair and nails, now that’s one pampering session 🙂
The Kelly Rimmer book has been getting some great ratings and reviews, so I hope that you enjoy that, along with the Adele Parks which you are currently reading and which also sounds right up my street.
The weather, here in the south of the UK, has a decidedly spring like feel to it this week, so fingers crossed that it is not just a passing faze and is set to continue through into Easter!
Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of your week 🙂
