WEEKLY UPDATES: IN SEARCH OF BALANCE…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Another week has flown by, and while some days brought sunshine, others brought rain…and even hail.  Indoors, I kept setting aside books, not finding anything that grabbed me, until I finally turned—successfully—to two March NetGalley ARCs, and I was able to finish them both.  What a relief!  The chaos of February brought out the best and worst of my reading mojo, so perhaps March can bring a better balance.

There was some good movie watching on Prime and Netflix, with Ben is Back, The Widow, and The Hate U Give.

Let’s grab more coffee, and take a closer look at the week.

  1. Ooh I’ve been seeing ads for The Widow and I’m intrigued. I haven’t seen Kate Beckinsale in anything in a while, it seems. Glad your reading picked up with the ARC’s. 🙂

The Next To Die looks awesome!

  2. Sometimes it is so difficult to just pick up the right book that sucks us in. And sometimes coming off an excellent book makes the next one harder to love, unless its very good. The chocolate dessert looks very yummy.

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, you’re right about that. It is harder to find a great one after reading other excellent books. If I switch up my genres, I have better luck, I think.

Enjoy your week…and the chocolate dessert was yummy…and maybe a bit too rich!

    1. Thanks, Evelina, enjoy your long weekend. Post-retirement, all my weekends feel like long ones. I look forward to Mondays and my usual routines. But…weekends can be a way to change things up.

      Have a great week!

  3. I’m glad you were able to settle into some good books. It’s an uncomfortable feeling for me when I don’t have a good book going.

I’ve created a linky on my blog for Sunday Salon and I’ve kept the Facebook group. I hope you will join in and spread the word.

    1. Thanks, Sarah, I tried audiobooks, but I just couldn’t concentrate. Plus, I don’t have earbuds to allow for walking and moving about. Before investing in them, I wanted to try listening while working out…but it didn’t work for me; I need to be able to take notes. Sigh.

Enjoy! Whatever works is a good thing.

I usually like Sophie Hannah’s books and I hope you enjoy it. Your dessert makes me wonder if I should be avoiding sugar anymore. Have a great week ahead.

  6. You got some really good looking books in the mail. When that happens to me I always want to read those books next instead of the ones that have been sitting on my shelves for ages. I haven’t watched The Hate U Give yet, I am afraid it won’t live up the book.

    1. Thanks, Helen, I have the same reaction when I get new books. Shiny and new beats out the older ones languishing on my Kindle…or sitting in a stack on my coffee table. I’m trying to balance things out, but it doesn’t always work.

      Enjoy your books.

  7. My husband had surgery this week so I was off some to help him out at home. He is doing fine but since I picked the worst time to have a horrible cold, I managed to lay around and read. I managed to read 5 books this week. That’s a record I’m sure and I know it will calm down once I return to work. Glad you found some books to take you out of your funk. Hope you have a great week.

  8. I’m glad you were able to get into some good reads. Sometimes it is hard, I can be a moody reader. Thanks for sharing the dessert! Have a lovely week and hopefully better weather without hail. One of my worst every Harley rides was getting caught in hail in the middle of nowhere.

    1. Thanks, Erin, I am hoping for balance in March…and moving forward. Taxes are behind me, and my laptop is functioning again.

Enjoy your week. As a California “girl” (lol), I am looking forward to the book.

  9. I have been flip flopping through books for months now. Some books sound amazing then I start them set them to the side and never pick them up again and of course repeat forever. I am glad that two ARCs helped you start getting your reading mojo back! Hopefully it continues.

I watched The Hate U Give last month and I really enjoyed it. I hope you liked it too!

    1. Thanks, Tina, I loved The Hate You Give. I haven’t read the book yet, but I think I will.

I am eager to get to a place of complete enjoyment of the books I’ve already bought…I hate when I don’t like them!

I’ve heard some bloggers like Peter Swanson’s books … but I haven’t read him yet. I hope you enjoy it. I think March will bring better reading mojo than February. Have a great week.

I’ve been attracted by the ads for The Widow.

Chocolate and dessert just seem to go together. Yours looks yummy.

Sometimes we just need to take a break to get our reading mojo back. Lately, I’ve been reading the Bible mostly, plus a devotional for Lent. Though I did get a chance to finish two books thanks to the short trip we just took.

I’ve seen Before She Knew Him somewhere else lately. Hope you enjoy The Next to Die. Have a great week.
