WEEKLY UPDATES: A WEEK OF UPS & DOWNS…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

What a hellish week I have had!  Midway through, I woke up to a computer hack, which led to a lot of issues, beginning, of course, with a non-functioning laptop.  Off I went to the Geek Squad…and to deal with banking complications.  Sigh.  Naturally these events interfered with reading and blogging.  Now that I have my computer home again, with all pretty much under control, I am 2/3 through my second book of the week.  I hope to finish it today.  (Just finished it and added it to my list below, linked to my review).

Other events:  I took care of my taxes on Thursday, and on Friday, my daughter added more purple to my hairstyle.

I did watch some movies this week, including the most recent A Star Is Born, with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga…and Sam Elliott.

I’ve set my DVR for the Oscars for tomorrow…I like to FF through parts of the show.

So…now that I’m halfway through the day, I don’t really need more coffee…but I wouldn’t mind having one of these:

Let’s take a closer look at my week:

  2. So sorry about the computer! That is the worst!!! I don’t even know what those people get out of it except causing someone else a lot of pain and frustration. Anyway, glad it all got worked out and you still finished two books. 🙂 I hope this week goes much better for you!

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, I hope to love the lentil soup. It has been years since I cooked with lentils..or even cooked much at all. LOL. As for the computer…my routines were thrown awry…and I felt rudderless. Sigh.

Enjoy your reading and your week!

Oh, sorry to hear about your computer issues! It’s stressful to know you’ve been hacked. Glad you’ve got it sorted out. I can see why you’d want a cocktail, or two!

Hope you enjoy Never Tell as much as I did! Loving Flora! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Lexxie, I do love my normal routines, and it was weird to walk past the office with no computer. I am happy that the cleanup revealed no damage to the hardware.

Today I want to stay home, cook my lentil soup, and read…after visiting blogs. Wine with my soup tonight, I think.

      Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Nicci, I am happy to have my laptop again, although the experience did make me a little paranoid…not to mention stressed out. The tax visit was better…since I’ll be getting a refund! First in a long while.

The newest A Star Is Born was good…and the ending was sad. But the previous one from 1976, with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, is still my favorite…and it was even sadder, IMO. I still cry when I see it, even after about ten viewings.

      Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Deb, mine was more trouble than just fixing the laptop, but I’m hoping it all smooths out soon. My banking issues involved getting new cards, so once I get the permanent ones, I have to change numbers and passwords on several accounts…sigh.

      Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Trin, it is amazing how dependent we can be on our technology. I went on vacation once without my laptop…just my iPhone. Not very satisfying. I felt like I was missing an appendage. Same feeling I had this week, with the additional stress of feeling violated.

      Enjoy your week!

OMG laurel a computer hack is my worst nightmare!! My hubs works in IT security so my geek squad would be him but I am sweating just thinking about it! Now about A Star is Born …I know that Rami Malek did an incredible job with Bohemian Rhapsody (I watched it twice) but knowing that Bradley Cooper learned to sing, to play the guitar …and how he ended doing it I think it’s high praise! Plus he is directing his first movie!!! yes yes I know I am partial here as Bohemian Rhapsody was incredibel too. Can’t we have two winners??? LOL Here to a quieter week for you! Sophie

    1. Thanks for visiting, Sophie, and how great to have your IT person close by. My eldest son helped with computer issues while he lived in the states, but he has been in Europe for two decades. Sigh.

I was impressed with Bradley Cooper’s performance and direction. I hope the Oscars spotlight all the right people!

      Enjoy your week.

  5. I’m so sorry your computer got hacked. That must cause a sick feeling when you realize it has happened. I hope all is okay now.

I like the purple in your hair! I love lentil soup. I hope you love your recipe and I think I will make some this week since we’re getting very cold weather again. We’ve been having lots of soups and stews this winter!

    1. Thanks, Jan, it was a nightmare that felt unending, as the ramifications came to light.

I hope those after effects subside…along with my fear and paranoia.

The purple highlights help…and I’m hoping the lentil soup will comfort me. Enjoy your week!

That’s awful about the computer. I’m glad you have your laptop back and working. What a pain that is.

I love the looks of all the books on your list. I want to add them to my wishlist. I love the purple in your hair. It looks great,

Hope this week is a better one.

  7. Sorry to hear your week was so hectic. We stuck close to home when we could because it was 40 and rainy ALL THE TIME! I’m so glad to see sun today. When my daughter was at PT, I did venture to Trader Joe’s and get us some gluten-free chocolate cupcakes, along with the usual things. I’m in a reading frenzy and my ARC haul came through this week. Have a better week!

  8. Oh, no!! I’m so sorry to hear about the hack… that is the worst, especially if banking is involved. Hope it’s all quickly resolved and with no last effects! I’m not watching the Oscars tonight either, but will scan through the highlights tomorrow. Life got a little crazy this month, but I was finally able to get a reading summary posted. The purple in your hair looks great!

    1. Thanks, JoAnn, it was a horrific week, and while I have my laptop back, I am still waiting for my permanent bank cards. Sigh.

I FF through my DVR for the parts of the Oscars that I enjoy…the main categories, primarily.

I hadn’t seen the best picture, and I’m still not sure I want to view it.

Enjoy your books and your week.

    1. Thanks, Nise, it feels good to have my laptop again. I hope to avoid all hacks in the future!

I watched the Oscars from my DVR so I could FF through parts of it.

I hope to find something on Netflix to binge-watch this week. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks, Brooke, I am hoping for smooth sailing now…but I will be anxious for a while. Yes, a refund is coming, although not a huge one. It’s nice not to have to pay! This will be the first year in many without owing more.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Kimberly, and most middle class people had unfortunate tax issues, thanks to Trump. I don’t know why I am getting some back for the first time in years, but it wasn’t much.

I am still suffering from the after-effects of the hack…the bank cancelled my bank cards and issued new ones which had not yet arrived. Sigh.

I hope we both have great weeks.

  9. I am sorry you had computer issues. I hope it is all sorted out. I thank my lucky stars every day that my husband can fix all of our electronic/ computer issues. I don’t know what we would do without him. Hopefully, this week will be much better.

    1. Thanks, Mary, and yes, we know how it happened…and hopefully it won’t again! My bank helped me by issuing new banking cards, although they haven’t arrived yet. Until then, my account is frozen. Sigh.

I am hoping for a better week…and year. Enjoy your week and your books.

Ugh! A computer hack! I live in fear of one. Glad to hear you got yours taken care of.

Love the purple in your hair. It’s so fun. My hair is too dark to do much with the fun colors.

  11. Technology can be a blessing and a curse can’t it? I watched the Oscars and was so glad Rami Malek won for playing Freddie Mercury. I loved him in Bohemian Rhapsody. That movie was amazing. I also enjoyed A Star is Born too. Gaga and Cooper were fantastic as well.

  12. Yikes! Sorry to hear abou the hack. That sounds horrible. I’m glad to read everything worked out.
I love the purple in your hair. I’ve always loved purple. But I’m definitely not brave enough to paint my hair in that color.
Have a great week and happy reading!
