Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
We had lots of rainy days last week, some with scary winds that rattled the rafters. There was also some hail on Friday. Oooh. Reading was good, though, and I managed to finish three books. I watched a few movies on my DVR, including Season I of Big Little Lies, in anticipation of Season II soon to come. I also enjoyed a Prime Video called All At Once (from 2016), that focused on some family issues after 9/11. On Hallmark Murders & Mysteries, there are some new ones this month with Alison Sweeney (The Chronicle Mysteries).
My two granddaughters are celebrating birthdays this month: Aubrey’s was 2/13 and Fiona’s will be on 2/21. They are 22. I barely remember that age! LOL.
Let’s take a closer look at the week…but first, let’s all grab more coffee.

WHAT’S NEXT?
I’ll soon start reading some NetGalley ARCs for books released in the the last part of March, but maybe not this week. Instead, I’m pulling a couple of books from my shelves:
Late in the Day, by Tessa Hadley
Come Find Me, by Megan Miranda
Then I will follow my moods….
***
That was my week. What did yours look like? I also enjoyed some Tortilla Sedona Soup, with the ubiquitous Margarita and a book….
***
Ooh that soup and margarita look so good. You had both a great reading and watching week! I guess I have to buy The Silent Patient, too…it sounds so good and I can’t get it from anyone!

I don’t think there ever can be too many margaritas! We had lots of rain here in Portland this week. I think we got around three inches, that was after the snow we got last weekend. It has been a wild weather week, one for staying inside and staying warm for sure. I like that book with the beach chairs on the cover because it screams summer and sunshine and that is what I am craving right now! Have a lovely weekend.

Wow rough weather huh? And ooh I loved season one of Big Little Lies. I’ll definitely be watching season two- thanks for the reminder! I gotta order HBO at some point so I can watch it. 🙂
Come Find Me is on my list to read too hopefully soon.
Mmm margarita and soup- notice the order I placed those in haha! Seriously though- have a great weekend!

I must admit, I’ve never tried margarita with soup before! Was it good?
Big Little Lies sounds like a good show but I’ve never had an opportunity to watch it myself. I can’t find it on any of the subscription services I use. 😦

Thanks for stopping by, Nicci, and a margarita is lovely with anything…Well, maybe not cereal. LOL
Big Little Lies is on HBO, and maybe on one of those Prime HBO Channels. Every time I think of scaling back my TV services, I think of the shows I don’t want to miss. Sigh.

These books look perfect for this weather. We’ve had almost nothing but rain all winter. I am in desperate need of escape from the awful weather and the crazy political world.

Thanks, Deb, escape from the politics is at the top of my list. We haven’t had our fill of rain yet. But yesterday, while I was enjoying my lunch at CPK, people were carrying signs that read Trump 2020. I lost my appetite!

Rain is my absolute favorite weather. Rainy and stormy and dark and creepy. I love it. I find I read more even when it’s raining. It’s so calming. Hail on the other hand is pretty scary. Glad everyone is okay, hail can be evil. I need to read Come Find Me. I hope you enjoy it.

I do love reading in a soft rain. Enjoy your week.

Have a terrific week, and I hope the rain stops. We are still cold and expecting snow again tomorrow. Oh well I guess it is winter in Pennsylvania.

Thanks, Elizabeth, being 22 is a long ago memory for me. I do recall that I was still attending university, though, and those days were good ones.
I love Alison Sweeney, and have enjoyed her mystery series and even her books. She came to my attention first as Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives. She still returns to the show now and then.
Enjoy your week.

Oh yes…senior year of college at 22. 🙂 Good times for sure. I was student teaching the second semester….a lot of work, but got to be home with mom’s cooking. 🙂
I didn’t know Alison was on Days of Our Lives. She is adorable.
Have a great week.

I really like Alison. She was a teenager when she was first on DOOL. So cute and feisty, and also a manipulative brat (her character).
I have fond memories of college; I went to SF State University, followed by Sacramento State, where I got my BA. I got my MA down here.

I want to be retired! I’m on my last day of a 4-day weekend and have quite gotten used to not going to work! I definitely want to read the Tessa Hadley book. I think that may be the book that an excerpt was published in The New Yorker as a short story, but I’m not sure. I’m curious about several of your other books, too, including The Silent Patient which I’ve been hearing a lot about.
My kids are all approaching 30; the oldest turned 30 in September, but no grandchildren as yet. Happy birthday to yours!

Thanks, Laurie, after my first decade in my career, the only thing that kept me going were thoughts of someday retiring…LOL.
That is probably not the way to spend one’s career.
I was disappointed with the Tessa Hadley book. I didn’t like the characters or the writing style. This was my second from the author…and will be my last.
I am looking forward to The Silent Patient.

Yeah I admit I’m curious about Season 2 of Big Little Lies. I think Meryl Streep is supposed to make an appearance. I liked Season 1. I’ll be interested to see if you like the Tessa Hadley book. Enjoy your week.

Thanks, Susan, I like that Meryl Streep will be in Season II…as Celeste’s mother-in-law. The woman who raised that crazy and violent man! That should be interesting.
I’m sorry to say that I didn’t like Late in the Day. It would have been a DNF, but I just keep chugging along…and with 70 pages to go, I pushed on through. The characters were unlikable, IMO, and the writing style was weird. No quotation marks, just dashes, and I couldn’t tell who was speaking! Way worse than the interview style of Daisy Jones.
