Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
Another week has flown by, but this time I read and reviewed three books! Am I getting back on track? To top off this good news is the feeling I had with the books I chose. Brilliant and captivating novels that swept me along to the end of each one, and on to the next book. The week brought some good movies, including one with Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe: Boy Erased, on Amazon Prime.
I found a movie on Prime starring Molly Ringwald. Remember her? Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, etc. The 80s were full of her work, movies mostly produced and directed by John Hughes. Now she is starring in a film about marriage and family, in which Molly and Brian D’Arcy James play a couple in a tumultuous relationship, struggling to stay together while trying to parent two teens: All These Small Moments, with Brendan Meyer, who stars as one of the teens.
I had a mani this week…and went out to eat and read twice. I spent a lot of time on my laptop: blogging, changing up blog headers, etc.
Good things to distract me from the chaos in Washington. And yes, the shutdown supposedly ended…but for three weeks? I shudder to think of what will happen next.
So…I will focus on my books, movies, and grab another cup of coffee while we take a closer peek at my week.

I always enjoyed Molly Ringwald’s movies. Nice to see her turning up again.
She Lies In Wait and The Suspect both look great to me. I’m thinking of getting She Lies in Wait, I was just looking at that one the other day!
Soup and salad mmm lol.

Thanks, Greg, I do enjoy seeing familiar actors still showing their talents.
I am eager to read my new books, while continuing to dig deep on my shelves for older ones.
I never tire of good soup.
Enjoy your week.

The shutdown was insane, and I feel sorry for all those who had to try and pay bills with no paycheck coming! It definitely made me think twice while on flights because I’m sure security wasn’t great. I try not to pay attention to all that stuff because it’s disturbing.
Your manicure turned out pretty!
I’ve seen good things about Verity. I’ll have to pick it up after seeing your 5 stars.

Thanks, Rachel, I loved getting the mani; and I really needed to read the books I had this week…very distracting! I hope you enjoy Verity…and I am trying to shut out the ongoing chaos.
I don’t love flying even in the best of times…definitely not getting on a plane any time soon!

Love the nails! And like you, I’m busy trying not to focus on the bigger picture – we don’t have a shutdown, but Brexit is looming large and chaotic. Many of my friends are stocking up in case we crash out with no deal:(. So let’s reach for the books, be nice to those we know and love and keep our fingers crossed! Have a great week Laurel.

Do you recommend the Ringwald film? I loved her movies from the 80s. We’re supposed to get a lot of snow in the next 24 hours and then our temps will fall to sub-zero HIGHS! I’ll be under a blanket reading 🙂

Thanks for visiting, Mary, and I enjoyed the Ringwald film. It was nice and quiet with some familiar issues. The story focused mainly on the kids.
Enjoy your week!

Nice selection of books! I have two of them to read soon but am checking out your other ones. Yes, we have to try to shut out the cacophony coming from Washington with our pleasurable hobby. You always have a nice mani and hair style– helps to have family in the business 🙂
And I do remember Molly Ringwald and saw all those John Hughes movies back in the day. I’ll have to look for this one. Despite my age Breakfast Club remains a favorite diversion.

Thanks, Rita, some of my favorite 80s moments included those John Hughes films. I watched Breakfast Club enough times that I practically know the dialogue. LOL.
Have a great week with books, and good luck shutting out the chaos from Washington.

Thanks for visiting, Sophie, and I seldom got manis or pedis when I was working my 7:30-5 job. Retirement is bliss, allowing for such things.
Enjoy your week, and let’s both have great ones.

Looks like your reading mojo is fully engaged! I am reading The Red Address book at the moment. Hating that slapdash carer who comes in and treats her like an idiot.

Thanks for visiting, Kathryn, and I had the same reaction to that carer. When I first began my social work career, I had elderly clients in need of home care, so I sometimes had to fire the slapdash workers.
I hope you love the book.

I loved Molly Ringwald! She plays Archie’s mom on Riverdale, although she is not in many episode – probably because she has other projects. I also recently read a piece by her you might like – about the 80s movies that she starred in (and that I grew up on and loved). It was interesting perspective, one for our new times.
She Lies in Wait looks really good!! I love a good thriller.

Thanks, Erin, I only recently found out about her role in Riverdale, and may have to watch. I’ve always felt as if she is another of my kids, since she’s in the age range of my oldest sons. Lol.
I’m going to try to find that piece.

I’m glad you found some things to distract yourself from Washington. I used to have a political blog (for a long time) but I took it down last week because it’s on the domain my author web site is going to be. There’s just too much fighting and people aren’t really listening to each other any more. ::shrug::
Have a great week! I hope you like your new books.

Thanks for visiting, Brooke, I can see why you took it down. People are vicious in their comments when they don’t agree with others. I’ve seen that on FB, and have to scroll on past those posts.
Enjoy setting up your author’s website.

Of course I remember Molly Ringwald! I just noticed that Netflix is bringing back some her movies beginning February first, too. Books, movies, and a meal out is MUCH better than focusing on the shenanigans in Washington… that truly drives me crazy. Hope you have a wonderful week and enjoy your next books.

Thanks, JoAnn, I really am grateful for books, movies, and food to take my mind off of the craziness. The sight of those who are holding us hostage for their own egos and political agendas could truly ruin my days and nights…except for those lovely books, movies, and meals. And our blogger friends help, too.
I have some of Molly’s movies on DVD…but I’ll watch them again on Netflix.
