Welcome to another Coffee Chat, in which we share bookish and not so bookish thoughts. Head on over to Bookishly Boisterous to add your link.
Today I had fun hanging out with my granddaughter Fiona. We picked up two pairs of eyeglasses for her, and then had dinner at a new restaurant in our neighborhood called Lazy Dog.
She is not wearing the new eyeglasses in this photo, as we went back for them after we ate.
- The new restaurant replaced The Elephant Bar. The remodel took several months, so this was our first opportunity to try it.
- Here is what I had: fish and chips and a pomegranate martini:
- My reading this week has been deplorable. I haven’t even finished one book, but I am almost ready to close the final page on Tell Me Lies. It is not what I expected, as it’s slow going….but I am enjoying it.
- Next I plan to read The Fabulous Bouvier Sisters.
- This past week, Sheila, at Book Journey notified us that she is hosting First Book of the Year again. In anticipation, I already ordered my pick for 2019.
- Last night, I went out for Mexican food in the neighborhood. Yum!

How has your week been going? Adventures, shopping, books?

How fun to spend time with your granddaughter. I look forward to First Book of the Year too. Still not sure which it’s going to be.

Thanks for stopping by, Laura, and I have been hooked on the First Book of the Year event since it began. In anticipation, I picked mine already; it is part of a series I’ve been following.
I was excited to hang out with Fiona…between work and school, she seldom has much time available. Lucky me today!

That fish meal looks very substantial!! My reading hasn’t been much this week, blaming it on the hot weather!

Thanks for visiting, Kathryn, I will blame my poor reading on Christmas, I guess, lol.
I was stunned at the size of the fish meal, since it was the half size portion. Can you imagine the full size?

Would hate to see the full size meal!

Those fish and chips look good. If you were here in the UK the traditional accompaniment to them would be mushy peas – not sure if you have such a thing in the US! Enjoy your reading week.

Thanks, Cathy, I asked for malt vinegar, though, as my eldest son picked up a craving for that addition when he went to school in London…years ago. I’ve never heard of the mushy peas…hmm.

Mushy peas are nicer than they sound!

You have been really busy. Did you like the new restaurant? Will it be one you go back to?

Thanks for stopping by, Patty, and I will definitely be going back. There is an unexplored menu! LOL. It is right there, in my favorite mall…and, because they’re new, the servers were so attentive. Plus, Fiona liked it.

I love fish and chips and that picture looks so good! The Elephant Bar always has good food, but man it’s pricey. Wish I knew why I always manage to read your posts right before lunchtime. Hahaha.
Glad to hear you’re enjoying Tell Me Lies even if it was a slow starter. I’m sure that your reading will pick up soon, too. 🙂

Thanks, Aymee, I was sad when The Elephant Bar in my neighborhood closed down, but I think I’m going to enjoy Lazy Dog. I wouldn’t mind having more of the fish and chips!
I finished Tell Me Lies earlier, and my review is up here:https://curlupandread.wordpress.com/2018/12/13/review-tell-me-lies-by-carola-lovering/

Lazy Dog sounds like it’s going to be a good place though. You can never have too much fish and chips. 😀
Thanks for the review – I like that you kept reading although both of the main characters frustrated you. I’m going to have to see if my library has it now, the whole premise interests me.

I do like how the story kept me interested, even when I wanted to yell at the characters (lol).

That’s how it goes with reading sometimes, especially this time of year. It sounds like you had a fun week, though. We need to see Fiona in her new glasses!

Thanks for stopping by, Kathy, and I can’t wait to get copies of Fiona’s photos in the new glasses. She got two pairs. She took some photos when we were together, but she probably decided to take more. She wasn’t satisfied with the ones she took. LOL.
I finally finished the one book, and now I’m immersed in The Fabulous Bouvier Sisters. Enjoy your weekend.

The food look delicious. My reading has just about stopped due to a physical condition, but I’ve been enjoying binge watching The Gilmore Girls.

Thanks for stopping by, Nise, and I love The Gilmore Girls. I am grateful for Netflix during times when reading isn’t possible…or when I need a change.
