WEEKLY UPDATES: READING, BINGE-WATCHING, & YULETIDE DECOR…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Another week flew by, and I had some enjoyable reading, binge-watching, and shopping days.  I finished FOUR books this week, the best numbers I have had in a while.  I watched Season II of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which I loved.  Today I plan to immerse myself in some new shows on Netflix.  I am also reading my “up next” books.

And, by the way, I did my version of Christmas decorating, which means I brought out a few items.  Here is a glimpse of what I did…and let’s grab some more coffee to fuel my peek at last week on the blogs.

    1. Thanks, AJ, I surprised myself with the four books. I probably won’t read that many this week, though; I just spent all day binge-watching Netflix. LOL.

I loved the coconut cream pie, which is not my usual pick.

  1. Ooh 4 books- nice! I haven’t turned on Netflix all week! Which is unusual for me haha! There are some shows coming up thought that I want to try. Hope you’re having a good weekend of binging your new shows. 🙂

Tell Me Lies- I like the look of that one!

    1. Thanks, Greg, the best thing about reading the four books was how much I enjoyed each of them. The pages flew by. Now if I could approximate the pattern and the pace this week, I’d be good.

I spent most of the day binge-watching on Netflix, and have more to immerse myself in tomorrow. Have a great week.

  2. Great for four books. I saw The Fabulous Bouvier Sisters in the bookshop today, I must look it up in the library. Now I am going back to study your 2019 Pages because I am about to set mine up – I need to see what I can learn from you!!

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, I started out creating the bookshelf pages on my Curl up and Read blog in 2010, and at one point, I actually deleted a few years, since I also had the reviews on Goodreads. Now I think I should have just combined some of the years. But it looked like a really tedious process, so I didn’t.

      Good luck!

I am eager to read the Bouvier Sisters book..I have always been a Jackie fan.

      Have a great week.

    1. Thanks for the return visit, Rachel, and to be fair…I started the HRH book a while back and finally finished it this week. LOL. But I decided to count it. Her book is one to savor and contemplate, so I couldn’t rush through it.

Luckily, all of the books I picked up were engaging and fast-paced, which works out for me.

    1. Thanks, Irena, I did totally engage in a show I always swear I’ll never watch again, because most of the characters say and do irritating things: The Ranch. But the character I hated the most is now gone, due to his bad behavior. LOL.

      Enjoy your week!

  3. You had an amazing reading week. Lots of high ratings. I love seeing that! I am curious about Mrs. Maisel. I have heard a lot of good things, though all I think about is my high school home ec teacher, because that was her name.

You have definitely been busy. Four books this week is great! I still have to finish season 1 of Mrs. Maisel. It’s a good show. I just haven’t had a chance to get back to it. The Fabulous Bouvier Sisters looks really good. Hope you have a great week!

  5. The Cue Card

Hi — do you think that I would like the Mrs. Maisel show? Hmm. I just put a long comment on your HRC review. I probably went on too long. It’s hard to keep quiet! I just saw the movie The Wife yesterday with Glenn Close, did you see it? It’s a small but powerful thing. Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Susan, and I loved The Wife. I can’t wait until it comes to Amazon Prime so I can buy it.

I do think you would enjoy Mrs. Maisel, as the story is all about a woman struggling for empowerment through her stand-up comedy performance.

Now I’m off to read your comments on the HRC review. I just finished watching a Showtime documentary on Presidents and the FBI…today’s was about Trump. I can’t wait to see what will happen next!

  6. That was a great reading week and I love your Christmas decorations! So tasteful:)). My taste flies out of the window at Christmas – lots of frantically flashing colours lights and hectic clashing baubles of varying ages. Himself winces every time he walks into the house… Have a wonderful week and enjoy the binge-watching!

  7. Christmas is getting here fast, isn’t it? I decorated while Carl was out of town and couldn’t get to a couple of boxes and have just decided to do without them this year.

A friend of mine loves Mrs. Maisel. You need to watch Dumplin’ on Netflix.

    Happy reading!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Kathy; I bring out less and less each year, since I don’t have help. Not since the grandkids grew too big and too busy. LOL. I have two bins that I pull from, and the others, like yours, are hard to get to without pulling back muscles.

I seem to be going for “just a touch of color.”

I hope you get to see Mrs. Maisel, and I watched Dumplin’ yesterday…loved it! I cried in spots, and laughed in others.

  8. I haven’t had coconut cream pie in years. Yum. I need to read After Nightfall and Anonymous Girl. I have both and I am happy to see you loved them. Also very curious about the new Hoover! Have a lovely week, Lauren.

  9. Literary Feline

It sounds like you had a great week, Laurel-Rain. I haven’t yet watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but I keep hearing good things about it. I may just have to give it a try myself! We finally were able to make time to decorate for Christmas this past Sunday. I hope you enjoy Verity. It sounds good! Have a wonderful week, Laurel-Rain.
