WEEKLY UPDATES: ANTICIPATING GOOD DAYS AHEAD…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Last week was so chaotic that I planned to cocoon with books and movies this week.  However, there were errands to run, voting to do, and on Wednesday, I met a friend for coffee.  Then I finally immersed myself in books and binge-watching Brothers & Sisters until I finished all five seasons.  As a result of this fixation, which felt like becoming part of the Walker family, I only read and reviewed two books.  And now my eyes are so tired that I can barely type!  Through all of my reading and viewing, I managed to savor the results of the election.

Since Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away, I’ve been planning for that occasion, and enjoying the anticipation.

Let’s grab some more coffee, which I need desperately, and chat about the details of my week.

  1. Ooh The Escape Room looks fun! I’m all about the thrillers lately! And yes glad to see some good results in the elections for a change lol.

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is so close!

    Yummy looking soup 🙂

    1. Thanks for visiting, Evelina; we do need our eyes to be rested….sigh. Sometimes we have to close them and wait until they are refreshed.

I love soup, which is a good thing, since I still have a temporary bridge and can only chew on my right side…and carefully.

      Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Mary, and we are finally seeing cooler weather. I am now wearing sweaters in the house! I always love soup, even in the summers. LOL

We’re in the 60s during the day and lower at night.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Rachel, a few years ago I started this MHC/Alafair Burke series, Under Suspicion, and each year have used a book from the series for First Book of the Year. I am prepping for that event, although Sheila has not yet announced it.

I’ve enjoyed her other books, too, starting many years ago.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Sam; it is a baked potato soup with bacon bits. Yum!

I loved Sally Field’s character in Brothers & Sisters, and also enjoyed Kevin and Scotty. Kitty and Robert made me cry at times. I didn’t like Sarah that much. Funny how we can get wrapped up in the stories and the characters.

      Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Susan, after the election, I started to feel a glimmer of hope again, although nothing seems to touch that guy in the WH.

I am feeling more relaxed, and my laptop seems to be working out well.

Nine Perfect Strangers sounds good to me, too.

  2. You’ve set me off on the journey of Brothers and Sisters and only on the first season putting who is who into my mind. Liking it but a little distracted by my rerun of the West Wing which I love. Happy reading for the coming week.

  3. There were a lot of distractions here this week, too, and I didn’t read or blog as much as I’d planned. I’m still glued to election news… not sure why is Florida so crazy. Guess I haven’t been here long enough to figure it out, lol. Hope you’re enjoying Hilary Clinton’s book. I’ll get to it eventually…

    1. Oh, I know, Laura…I am also impressed that she is still writing at 90. This new series has a co-author, so maybe that helps.

I am always happy when older people continue to be creative…it gives me hope. Enjoy your week.

It’s been a long time since I read a Mary Higgins Clark book, but this one looks really good. I can’t believe Thanksgiving is almost here. Time is sure flying. Hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Yvonne, I am really enjoying MHC’s Under Suspicion series, and I’ve been reading each book as my First Book of the Year. The timing of the new releases works out for me.

I know…time is definitely moving too quickly!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Erin, and I have to go out if I want cocktails…I only do wine here. Or sometimes Champagne. LOL. My daughter, and also my eldest son, are great at tending bar, but they don’t live here..

I am thinking that I should make some soup in my Crockpot. Some days feel like stay-at-home days.

      Enjoy your week.

My brother got his work schedule for Thanksgiving week. It looks like our celebration will be on Saturday which he actually has off. He works both Thursday – until 1:15 AM – and Friday. At least he doesn’t have to open the store on Friday but begins at 9:30 AM. I’ll be watching lots of football while he works since I don’t shop on Thanksgiving or Black Friday. Being retired, I can do my shopping when the stores will be quieter. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I have a really hard time reading when I binge watch anything. Awesome that you read two books in that process. With the exception of Stranger Things (about 9 episodes each), I can’t binge watch and read. Have a wonderful week and sorry I am a bit late.

  7. Cocooning with books sounds great. In fact, we haven’t left the house the last few days. I did make clam chowder. The past 2 days it has rained steadily all day and night which it doesn’t do all that often. It is dark and dreary. It feels like bedtime instead of suppertime. I have to go out shortly. *** Shudders**

Hopefully, this week has even more books and less hectic. Anne – Books of My Heart

    1. Thanks for visiting, Anne; I have managed to get out more this week, but I’ve also read two books already! It helped that I had finished binge-watching Brothers & Sisters. I am now watching House of Cards, Season 6, but only one episode a night.

      Clam Chowder sounds delicious!
