WEEKLY UPDATES: A CELEBRATORY WEEK…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

A lovely autumn week brought serene days, with birthday celebrations, blogging, and some reading.  I only read and reviewed two books, but they were both wonderful.  I wrote six blog posts, so I made up for the previous week when I had no laptop. Today I am pondering what I should do…probably more reading, but I’ve also been captivated by a series I loved a few years ago, now on Amazon Prime:  Brothers & Sisters, with Sally Field as the matriarch.  I’m on Season II.

I haven’t gone to the theater lately.  I’m still waiting for movies that will draw me there, as I no longer go for just any movie.

So…let’s grab some coffee and chat about the details of the past week:

  1. I haven’t been to the movies in ages, seems like. And glad you had a good week! I love autumn…

The Neighbors is one I might get if I hear good things- I’ve been intrigued by the blurb.

Quiche! Man, I haven’t had quiche in forever. Looks delicious.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Greg, and I hadn’t had any Quiche lately, either. But we were at Mimi’s, in my neighborhood, where they have a whole Quiche section on the menu.

I have been too lazy to even go to the movies today, but I’m loving the book Open Your Eyes.

      Have a great week.

    1. Thanks, Billy, even though I live in a fairly big city (500,000 and many theaters), we don’t get a lot of the big movies until later. Sigh. I once lived in a town with one theater, though, and they were playing a movie I’d seen five years before, so I’m grateful for what we get. LOL.

      Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Kimberly, and spending time with my daughters is like a gift, since they are so busy with their lives, families, and jobs.

I love the Sally Field series…even though I saw it all years ago on the networks, it feels new again. Enjoy your week.

  2. I’ve bought a DVD of Brothers, Sisters since my last visit here, but… then I found there is a rerun on TV on one of the channels so I started recording it, it was Season one Ep 12 so I do need the DVD anyway. I am hoping they will rerun the rest of the seasons!! Then I’ll see it for the first time.

I watched Brothers & Sisters when it originally aired and loved that show. Sounds like you had a great birthday week. Your books all look good. Hope you have another great week!

    1. Thanks, Yvonne, I have been struggling with my cursor leaping around, and I just found a solution on Google. So far so good!

Enjoy your week…I loved last week a lot, between birthday celebrations and Brothers & Sisters.

  4. It sounds like a lovely week. I don’t know how you lived through the week before without a laptop. I NEED mine. I can do some things on my phone when I travel or even the Kindle but the laptop is easiest. Enjoy those new books – they look great. Anne – Books of My Heart

    1. Thanks, AJ, I usually don’t have to pay for movies, as my grandchildren all give me movie passes which seem to last most of the year. But still I don’t want to go unless the movie is one I can’t wait to see.

      Enjoy your week!

Happy Birthday to you! Glad you got the laptop and it works out well for you. I love quiche! Have a wonderful week of reading and I keep thinking of getting the Sally Field book. I really like her and would like to read about her life.

  6. I remember that series. I have never really watched it, but I remember I wanted too.
I can’t wait for the new Fantastic Beasts movie to come out. I haven’t been to the movies in ages, but I’ll have to go for that one. LOL!!
Have a great week and happy reading!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Kathy, and I’ve been wanting to see A Star Is Born.

My daughter (and my honorary daughters) are a comfort, but now and then my daughter “threatens” to move to Texas, where her husband owns some land. I told her that I’m not moving there…

      Enjoy your week!

  7. Your daughters are beautiful and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Happy belated Birthday btw, I think I forgot to say with all the October crazy Halloween posts. Anyway, I rarely hear Andre Dubus III’s books mentioned and I have one of his on my shelf. The House of Sand and Fog was on Oprah’s reading list.

I can’t even remember the last time I went to the theater for a movie. Actually, since watching The Greatest Showman on DVD, I can’t remember the last movie I watched. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  9. The Neighbors and Open Your Eyes both look really good! My older girl wants to see The Crimes of Grindewald when it comes out (she’s so into Harry Potter) and both my girls, oddly enough, want to see Bohemian Rhapsody. I might make my yearly movie quota in a couple weeks. Hahaha.

    Have a great week!

I’m curious too about the Andre Dubus novel Gone So Long. I don’t have a copy yet, but I’ll be interested to hear what you think of it. Glad you got to the Sally Field book. Enjoy your week.

    1. I am excited about the Andre Dubus novel, too, since I really loved The House of Sand and Fog…the book and the movie. Did you see the movie?

Ever since I read the Sally Field book, I’ve been watching her movies…and an Amazon Prime series that I once saw on the networks: Brothers and Sisters.
