WEEKLY UPDATES: AUTUMN MOMENTS…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Autumn is finally here…I think.  We still have some warm days, but most days are in the 80s.  I’ll take it.

As the days passed quickly this week, with various appointments (flu shot, dental appointment, coffee with a friend), I could tell that my reading was slacking off.  I ended up reading and reviewing only two books, but they were enjoyable ones.  Neither was a thriller, though, which probably explains the slower pace.

I have a long list of what I want to read next…but knowing how things have been going, I will follow my moods and see where they lead.

Now that I’m able to drink coffee again (and eat real food!), let’s grab another cup and talk about the week.

LAST WEEK ON THE BLOGS:

That was my mediocre week…but one that brought some lovely moments.  Below, check out the delightful Pumpkin Mousse Pie I enjoyed last night, now that I can eat regular food…although this one could have been devoured when I was on the soft foods diet.

  1. Open Your eyes looks like a good thriller. Love that tagline. Those always get me. 🙂

Glad you’re having nicer weather. 80’s is at least civilized. 🙂

Ooh They All Fall Down- quite the cover! Hope your weekend is relaxing and fabulous!

    1. Thanks, Greg, I’m trying to read more, but I also started watching Netflix…I think I’m avoiding studying for the DL renewal later this month…a written test is required this time!

I like that tagline on Open Your Eyes, too.

      Enjoy your week.

  2. I so want to read In Pieces. I did order it from the Book Depository but they then did not have it ready when it published and say its still on order. I may cancel and buy here as its been in our shops for awhile. The Book Depository is slipping!

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, I hope you get your hands on In Pieces soon…I love a good memoir of an actress I’ve enjoyed in so many movies and TV shows.

I’ve never used Book Depository, although many love it.

      Enjoy your week!

  3. Confession time! I tried pumpkin pie a couple of times in the past (when I’ve been stateside in October) and I just don’t get it… Of all the yummy pie fillings, it just fell horribly short. *ducks* However, I like seeing all the mentions of it along with pumpkin spice coffees etc as it marks my favourite time of the year! I think that’s why I keep trying it when the opportunity presents – because it’s so autumnal and I want to like it! lol

Glad you can eat proper food again! And enjoy your coffee.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Nicci, and I guess a pumpkin pie fan is born, not made. You love it or not. Now I’ve never tried Pumpkin Spice Latte, but I was staring at it when I was in the Starbucks Cafe the other day. I should probably get some.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Angelica, I was happy to finally finish my second book! I was still working on it yesterday morning…and then turned the final page.

I am pretty sure that photo of Sally Field is from her younger years, but she still looks amazing.

Sorry to make you hungry! LOL.

      Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Deb, I think that, in order to read a lot of books, I have to choose more thrillers. The fast pace keeps me going. But now and then, I like to read stories that are about friendship and love.

I am glad to enjoy food again!

      Have a great week.

  4. Yes… the weather here has still been eerily warm for the time of year – which I’ll happily take as it shortens the winter, which I dread. We are eating more casserole alongside the salads though, is it feels cosier with the darker evenings… Have a great week, Laurel:)

    1. Thanks, Racheleanne…I love all things pumpkin. I even eat the pie throughout the year, but it is special in October. My birthday is this month, and strangely enough, my parents called me “Punkin” when I was a kid. I hated it! LOL

      Enjoy your week.

  5. I’m so curious about IN PIECES – that’s such a young pretty pic of Sally!

Being a Brit, I just can’t understand why anyone would like pumpkin pie. I tried it once… never again! I reckon it’s something we do (or don’t do) that makes it different. I bet in America you have some delicious recipes. It certainly looks better than anything I’ve tried lol Have a lovely week x

Here’s my Sunday Wrap Up Post. Hope you can drop by!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Sassy, and I am looking forward to the Sally Field memoir.

That pumpkin mousse pie is different from the norm in the “genre,” but I loved it. I actually prefer the good old normal pumpkin pie, though.

I love the recipe my mom used, with Libby’s pumpkin as the base.

      Enjoy your week!

      1. lol sorry for liking and unliking, accidentally tapped where I shouldn’t lol I’d love to try the Pumpkin Mousse for something different! Libby’s pumpkin is new to me, maybe it’s an American brand… see, we just don’t do Halloween as well as you guys! 🙂 x

    1. Thanks, Trincarl…I did love Steel Magnolias, too; my favorites of hers were probably Norma Rae and Places in the Heart…but I also loved her in the show Brothers & Sisters.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your week.

  6. Yeah, my reading was slacking off as well. I don’t even know what it was. This week has just been so busy. I’m sorry I haven’t been able to visit much in the last two weeks! Could not spare any time at all for blog hopping 😦 it’s so good to catch up with everyone though, finally.
I hope you have a great week 🙂

    1. I suspect that many of us are having seasonal blues, or something, Evelina. I’ve been noticing a lot of bloggers slacking off.

It’s all right, though, we’ll be reading again soon!

      Thanks for stopping by.

  7. My reading has been down lately, too, but I’m blaming it on our recent travels. I still need to get a flu shot and have been curious about Butter Orange. Some of the early review have been mixed, but I loved Swimming Lessons. Will be curious to hear what you think. Hope you have a good week!

  8. It just started to be a bit chilly here. (We had a storm push that cold northern air through. Part of me is happy because it’s fall, but the other part is like “NOOOO It’s cooooold” even though the lows are only in the mid to high 60s.

Yay for getting coffee back and that Pumpkin mouse pie looks delicious!
Hope next week is better for reading. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Shannon, I love cooler weather, but that’s probably because it doesn’t get freezing cold here.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting. I must say that I’m very happy for coffee and pumpkin pie!

I want to read the Sally Field book. It looks great. I know the feeling of having a long list of books you want to read, but going by your mood to decide what’s next. I’m at that point too. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Yvonne, when I have a long list to read, it does feel as though I’m opening presents, or something. Getting to choose what’s next is my favorite thing. Which is probably why I don’t do challenges anymore, since reading from a set of rules seems too much like work. LOL.

      Enjoy your week.

I am loving First Flurries…the story feels magical, like all the previous books I’ve read from this author.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting.

The pie looks yummy and I am glad you are back on regular diet. I read 3 books last week and that is a major improvement considering the slump I had the week before. Have a great week.

Your fall cool down is like my hot summer. We have been having too much cooler than normal weather. It does allow for lots of good reading time though. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  12. Dentists should be on the creep factor list for Halloween. Honestly. They are terrifying. I wish I didn’t have to deal with the pain anymore but I’m glad you made it through and are probably much happier for it. I love anything mousse and whipped cream is to die for.

I’m looking forward to reading the Sally Field book, too. It’s on my list for Nonfiction November. Bitter Orange was only so-so for me. I hope you enjoy it much more than that.

    The 80’s sound LOVELY!
