WEEKLY UPDATES: ENJOYING THE ANTICIPATION OF FALL…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Welcome to another September weekend!  As I sit in my office sipping coffee, I am pondering the busy week I had.  Four books read and reviewed, and eight blog posts!  Whew!  I most have found some energy.  Could it be the slightly cooler days?  Well, “slightly” is the key word, since it will be in the upper 90s again today.  My book haul is huge this week, too, with THREE new NetGalley ARCs, a new library book, and some purchases.  Just so you know:  I am loving Paige, my new Oasis.

On Netflix, I’m enjoying Season 6 of Wentworth and Season 2 of Ozark.  I haven’t made much progress on either…probably because of all my reading and blog posting.

On Wednesday, I had coffee with a friend, and we chatted for a few hours about life, books, and the daily annoyances in the world that we are trying to ignore.  As always, we felt supported and refreshed.

So…what else?  Well, grab some more coffee, and let’s take a closer look.

So…that was my week…what did yours look like?  The other night, I had my usual pot pie at Marie Callender’s…and took home this slice of pumpkin pie to eat at home while reading on Paige.  I am ready for fall!

  1. Glad the new OASIS is working out! And yeah I guess you did have quite the week! I’m thinking An Anonymous Girl looks pretty good- I’ve been all about the thrillers lately. 🙂

Mmm the pumpkin pie looks great! I’m so jealous of those Marie Callender pot pies- I bet they’re delish! 🙂

    Have a super weekend!

  2. I want to try Clinton’s book and hope to grab it from the library on audio. I love that you name your kindles. Did you get the new waterproof model? It ended up being to heavy for me and I am selling it. I sold my original Oasis and regretted it. As soon as they started selling them again I bought one.

    1. Thanks for visiting (and hosting), Kimberly, and yes, I did get the waterproof model, but I don’t plan to test it! LOL. I love naming things…ever since childhood when I named my dolls.

Oh, sorry yours was too heavy! I do think it’s somewhat awkward to hold at times, but I’m getting used to it.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Deb, and I must admit that I bought The President Is Missing because Bill Clinton was one of the authors. I can take or leave Patterson, although some of his books are okay. And I love the short chapters. But…I’ve read 100 pages so far, and I’m stopping for a while, as there are more than 400 more pages, and I realized that I should start my October review ARCs! By the time I get back to this one, the library due date might have arrived. Sigh.

So we’ll see. Enjoy your week!

  3. Forget You Know Me landed on my kindle in the last week. I’ll wait a bit to read it though. I like pumpkin pie but not so much lattes or other drinks with the flavor. I hope your temps continue to inch down and you get a great taste of fall.

    1. Thanks, Mary, I am longing for the taste of fall! I’m glad the new ARCs I got won’t be released for a while, as I can catch up on some other books before time to read them. I don’t like reading them until almost release, so I can also write the review at the same time.

Enjoy your reading…and thanks for visiting.

  4. I swear James Patterson is a writing machine! He seriously cannot ever sleep…
Glad to hear you’re enjoying the new e-reader. 4 books in a week is really good going!
Autumn is my favourite season and I’m loving how it’s creeping into all the blogs now. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Nicci, I do admire James Patterson’s writing frenzy…but nowadays, he always has a co-author. I wonder how much of the writing is done by the partner in the endeavor.

I love autumn! We don’t have a very long one, though, since our hot days last into October…and by the end of November, it is winter. Sort of. Our winters are mild.

      Enjoy your week!

There’s something about fall that makes pumpkin pie taste better, I don’t know what it is! It doesn’t taste as good in the summer. Fall makes me want to curl up with a pile of books and read all day, too, and I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who reads really fast haha!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Ashleigh, and curling up to read, especially in the fall and winter, is my favorite thing. I realize that I also love curling up in the summer, too, since the heat outside keeps me indoors with the AC.

      Enjoy your week!

  6. Happy to hear you are enjoying your new Oasis. I know I love mine. Eight blog posts! You’re a beast. I write my reviews while I read, and can hardly find the will to do the other 4 on the weekend. Good job!

    1. Thanks, Cleo, I am excited about my NetGalley books…and I got still another one today! The Perfect Liar, by Thomas Christopher Greene.

I think the holiday here helped me get more reading done, as I had no other plans. LOL.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Ha-ha…that was hilarious about the cooked bird in Now That You Mention It. It made me puke a little…LOL.

Thanks for visiting, Kathryn, and I stopped reading The President Is Missing at 100 pages…to set it aside for a bit, as I realized I needed to start on my October NetGalley ARCs.

      Have a great week!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Yvonne, I had read 100 pages of The President Is Missing when it occurred to me that I should read a couple of my NetGalley ARCs for the beginning of October. Hopefully I can get back to the President book before the library due date at the end of the month. That’s the only thing about library books that I sometimes forget…due dates! LOL

      Enjoy your week!

  7. Looks like we both tackled long books recently. I also added a bunch of new ones. I do download the review ones to my Kindle right away. It takes a while to get to them on my reading calendar and I don’t want to miss the download window for any. I found that the next one on my reading stack hadn’t been downloaded. Luckily, it was still available. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  8. Hooray for ‘slightly’ cooler days… they sure seem to energize your reading and blogging! Not sure I’ve ever had a week that productive, lol. I’m looking forward to my first taste of pumpkin this week… probably a pumpkin spice latte. My father loves pumpkin pie, so I may surprise him with one when we have lunch later in the week.

  9. Our weather has already turned cooler and we are supposed to get some showers this week. It is feeling more like fall, which is a good thing. It’s been a long hot summer. I hope you enjoy Good Luck with That. It is a controversial book, but I enjoyed it.

    1. Thanks, Kathy, and I used to only buy physical books until my daughter gave me my first Kindle in 2010. I didn’t use it a lot, though, until I got my first Paperwhite. Then I was hooked, and nowadays, I seldom buy hardcover or paperback books…unless that’s the only available version, or they have photos (like in a memoir).

      Enjoy your reading.

  10. So nice to be encouraged meeting with a friend.
Lots of new books for you.
The Golden Gates sounds suitable for you in California! Your Higgins titles make me want to read her – I know I have at least one in my TBR stacks. 🙂
    Happy Reading!
