WEEKLY UPDATES: HOT, HOT, HOT!

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

It is hot, hot, hot!  It will be triple digits all weekend, and then “down” to 99 on Monday.  Why am I complaining?  I should be used to it by now.  I have lived in California’s Central Valley since the early 1970s…but I bitch and moan every summer.  LOL

On the plus side:  The AC is working well, and I don’t have to go outside that much.  Today I did want to go out on the patio and sweep away the leaves and cobwebs…and then spray it all down with a garden hose.  Maybe I’ll let the hose spray a little on me, too.

My interior world:  Three books read and reviewed this week, and 12 for the month of June.  My annual total:  77.  Not that fabulous, but I’m moving along.  I wrote 8 blog posts.  And in my non-reading time, I moved a little furniture around.  I called that exercise.

Still loving The Handmaid’s Tale, Season II...and watched one episode of Queen of the South on Netflix.  I’m not sure if I’ll continue.

I need a mani-pedi…maybe later today?  After I play around with the garden hose.

So…let’s have some more coffee and take a closer look at my reading and blogging.

  1. Sounds like a very good week. And the garden hose sounds like a splendid idea with those temps! I haven’t read Nicola Moriarty… yet. I accidentally picked up one of her books at a book fair thinking it said Liane Moriarty, heh heh. But haven’t read it as yet.

  2. I still need to watch Handmaid’s S2. And wow triple digits. Yikes! It was hot here today too- not THAT hot, but 90’s.

The Other Wife looks like a good thriller!

Mmm key lime… looks good as usual. 🙂

    1. Thanks for visiting, Greg, I hope you enjoy The Handmaid’s S2…and I agree about The Other Wife. The Key Lime Pie was good…that was last week. Yesterday I had Strawberry Shortcake…after my cup of soup. LOL

      Enjoy your week…

    1. Thanks, Jenea, I hope to enjoy my books and my Sunday. I’m wondering how long I can put off cleaning the patio…I got my garden hose and I’m ready to go. Gardening gloves, too, to protect the mani.

      Have a great week!

  3. I can’t wait to get to The Family Gathering by Robyn Carr. I just finished reading Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris. 🤦🏽‍♀️
That Key Lime pie looks scrumptious!! Yum. 😋
It is SO HOT here!! I suggested to my husband moving to Vermont. 😂

  4. My Not So Perfect Life is a pretty cute book. I have been trying to get my hands on Surprise Me for a while. (Glad to see it’s good!)

I still need to start up season 2 of Handmaid’s Tale. It’s just so bleak, I can’t handle it right now.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Shannon, and the only thing that wards off the bleakness of Handmaid’s Tale for me is the hope I hold for a break out escape that lasts. Followed by the end of Gilead…or something equally devastating for those folks.

      Enjoy your week!

  5. It’s hot here, too, and with oppressive humidity – yuck! They say today will be one of the hottest days this area has ever had. Thankfully, our AC is working and I’m indoors enjoying A Spool of Blue Thread. Key lime pie is always a treat! Stay cool and have a good week.

We’re having ridiculously hot weather too. I’m very happy in here with the a/c going 🙂 The Sophie Kinsella and Emily Giffin books both look so good. Oooooh, that yummy dessert. Enjoy!

  7. We had high temps this week as well (upper 90s but heat indexes around 105). So grateful for our AC. I think your book total is impressive. I’m at 55 as of this morning. My GR goal is 100 so I guess I’m doing okay. I hope you love your July review books and have a good week!

    1. Thanks, AJ, I can only go outside in the early mornings when we have triple digits. I did that today to clean off my patio. I used the garden house, and didn’t mind getting a little bit wet.

      Have a great week.

It is hot here in Sacramento and like you it’s our typical summer weather. But we got a break from the heat last week when we visited Seattle. It even rained there and I caught a cold. Seattle is nice but I love our sunny weather lol. You had a great reading month and I hope it continues in July. Stay cool and have a great week!

  9. That heat certainly can be oppressive. It tires us out too if we are outside. These are good days to stay inside with the AC.
I really like the cover of The Other Wife. Happy Reading!

  10. Today’s a little cooler here – low 90s instead of high 90s – but our downstairs air conditioner isn’t working well. A guy was here to work on it but he had to go get a part. I hate waiting around for workmen. Have a great week!

    1. Ooh, Kathy, I hope the workmen don’t keep you waiting long! I’ll be waiting for the ATT service tomorrow afternoon, as my TV receivers keep losing their signal, and I hate having to constantly reboot them.

I hope the AC keeps working while I wait. Enjoy your week!

  11. Our weather has been hot for Northeastern Minnesota which isn’t anything like hot for California’s Central Valley. I’m also glad for air conditioning. I’m still working on July releases from my review stack but should finish this week. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Kathy, and I went completely off plan yesterday and read Todd Fisher’s memoir about his mother and sister…loved it! Now today, I’m back to my list for the week.

      Enjoy your week!

  12. It’s hot here, too… though not in your league. I am loving it but it’s hitting my mother and sister badly. We’re only really set up for drizzle here in the UK… I hope you continue to be able to keep indoors and cooool.

  13. My Not So Perfect Life has been loitering on my bookshelf for almost a year now but I still haven’t read it… Oops!
I haven’t been on any adventures lately and I’m unsure of how many I’ll get away on this summer with impending house-buyage but that’s an adventure in itself, right?

I hope you are staying cool, Laurel-Rain. Down here in Southern California, we finally are finally “enjoying” the triple digits. Thank goodness for air conditioning. I am glad to hear you are enjoying the second season of The Handmaid’s Tale. I still need to see the first. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and week, Laurel-Rain.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Wendy, and the only way to stay cool is indoors, in the air conditioning. Although I did hose down the patio…and myself, too. Lol

Season II of Handmaid’s Tale is pretty dark, but I’m hooked.

      Enjoy your weekend.
