WEEKLY UPDATES: AN ERRATIC WEEK…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

My week was erratic, with errands, a meet up with a friend, a little bit of reading (only two books read & reviewed), and eight blog posts (other than the reviews).  Some TV, Hulu, and Netflix watching rounded things out nicely.  I finished Safe, watched another episode of The Handmaid’s Tale, and I’ll be starting Season II of Marcella today.

I can report that one of my reads was fabulous, earning five stars, while the other was a bit disappointing.

Let’s grab some coffee and take a closer look.  Here I am in my office, sipping coffee with breakfast as I contemplate the week.

  1. Ooh The House Swap looks tense! Are you watching Marcella S2?

By the way, did you see that Julie Mulhern has a new series starting? You may already know, but if not… in case you’re interested.

    Mmm… yummy cake 🙂

  2. Right now we have a tiny spare room that my parents use quite often when they come and then two kids’ bedrooms, so no office. That’s my one tiny consolation about the kids eventually growing up – I’ll get an office/library. I hope you enjoy all your new books!

    1. When the kids were younger, I had a bigger house and a guest house, so moving here meant downsizing to a two-bedroom. The second bedroom is my office, but also doubles as a guest room (with a sofa bed). I don’t have guests a lot, so it’s mostly my work/hanging out space. LOL.

Thanks for visiting, Tressa, and enjoy planning that office/library. I wish I did have a room just for books, too, but that’s not going to happen. LOL. Have a great week.

    1. Oh, wow, I was stunned by that ending, too, Cleo. Before that, I wondered where the story could go…but now I sense a whole new set of events. Did you have suspicions about Marcella’s ex-husband? I think there is more to be revealed about him. He seems so evil, making her think she had done things to him when she hadn’t.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Jenea, I binge-watched Marcella Season II yesterday, and also did a bit of house cleaning. Will do some more today, but the bigger things are done! Sigh.

I am enjoying Nothing Forgotten so far, and LOVED Bring Me Back. Have a great week.

  3. Even with less books read, you had a pretty nice week. I loved Educated and hope you do too. I’m interested in the new Mulhern series that Greg mentioned too. I would probably like to read My Girls, though when I see Todd Fisher on tv, he seems a strange sort of guy, so don’t know what his writing style would be.

  4. The BA Paris book is on my wish list so I’m glad you loved it. I have The Beach House on my kindle as well as on my dvr – haven’t had a chance to read or watch! I know it will be good though. Enjoy the rest of the cake and have a great week ahead.

    1. Enjoy The Beach House, in book and film. I hope to love the book…I’ve enjoyed others in the series. I’m definitely not reading in order, though. LOL

Thanks for stopping by, Mary, and have a great week.

  5. That cake looks delicious! Having just been away and managing to sample the most delicious carrot cake (can I count it as one of my 5 a day??) I think I’d better look away! I hope you have a lovely week, Laurel.

  6. I need to take a closer look at Educated. Thanks for sharing it here.

I love the look of your week. I hope to emulate your week now that I am retired. It’s the spaces in my day, the breathing room, that I am most looking forward to. Well, that and being able to read a little more!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Deb, and I hope you enjoy all the spaces in your days…and the breathing room. When I look back to 2005, when I last worked, I am amazed at the lovely days, weeks, and years that have gone by.

      Have a great week!

I have Safe on my list to watch on Netflix. I’m not sure when I’ll get around to it though. It looks good. That red velvet cake looks delicious! Yum!

I hope you enjoy Dreams of Falling as much as I did. Have a great week!

    1. When I first watched Safe, I wasn’t drawn in; but then I tried again, and suddenly I was hooked. I hope you enjoy it…and I plan to love Dreams of Falling.

I just got another library book! Surprise Me, by Sophie Kinsella.

      Enjoy your week.

Sounds like your reading this past week was a mixed bag–one good and one not so good. Hopefully you will read all wonderful books this week, Laurel-Rain. I hope you enjoy your new books! Dreams of Falling is on my TBR pile. I’ve been hearing great things about it. House Swap sounds like it will be interesting. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Cheryl, I think that I got too lazy last week, and I paid for it. This weekend, I caught up on housework, and now feel entitled to sink into the couch and read some good books. Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Kathy, and I still have one more June (the 26th) book to read…soon! I only have one July book (the 24th)…unless I get some last-minute books. These are from NetGalley.

Meanwhile, I have a couple of author review books that I’m working on.

      Enjoy your week!

  9. Right now change up is causing me some frustration as I have much to do so interruptions and side tracks are not so happy. Other times erratic breaks up the work.
Glad to know Bring Me Back hit the spot for you. The Fisher book should be interesting and Educated caught my eye earlier in the year. It is one I think I want to pick up someday. I will be interested in your thoughts.
Hope you get more good eats and Happy Reading this week.

  10. The Cue Card

The cake looks really good. And the Todd Fisher book looks interesting, though I don’t know much about him in the family, do you? I hope your week goes well. The Educated book seems to be quite a whopper of a story …. who needs parents like that!

    1. Thanks, Susan, and I did see a bit about Todd in the shows about Carrie and Debbie after they died. He seemed to be a businessman, and he took care of Debbie after her husbands stole her money. (She really picked some bad apples!).

I’ve only peeked at the photos so far, and they are good ones, some never seen before.

Enjoy your week! Hoping to love Educated.
