Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
The weather is heading upward to the 90s this weekend. I guess I should prepare the AC…just in case.
I read and reviewed four books this week, and they were a mix of NetGalley review books (2), a library book, and one purchased book. There was a bit of mystery, a nonfiction book, and vicarious traveling to lovely settings.
The last episode of Scandal aired…and I’m sad to see the characters go. But in some ways, I liked putting the political dirty dealings behind me.
Next Wednesday, The Handmaid’s Tale returns to Hulu for its second season. And on Sunday, there will be another Season II episode of The Good Fight. Loving it!
This week, Son #2 is in Louisville, Kentucky, working with a small crew producing an indie film. Below, see stars: Jason Patric, on the left; and Toby Kebbell, right…
So…those are some tidbits from my week. Grab some coffee, and let’s chat about the details.

Congratulations on your son’s indie film work! Let Me Lie was good as I remember, but can’t think of the plot. Some thrillers run together for me. Enjoy the new books!

Thanks, Harvee, my son enjoys movie making.
I also have the same problem with some thrillers, but I do recall loving the author’s first two books, so I’m feeling hopeful about this one.

Wow Jason Patric. Cool that your son is working on the production! I liked Patric on The Lost Boys and more recently in Wayward Pines. And 90’s already?? Yikes!
I’m looking forward to more Handmaid’s Tale!
That cover of Beach Bliss makes me want to be looking out over the ocean somewhere…

I love the beach series from DeMaio. The characters return from previous books, and add a few new ones.

Thanks, Nicci, I had already read the book a couple of times, and seen an older movie based on the book back in 1990, starring Natasha Richardson and Faye Dunaway.
I am so happy to have another look at it in the Hulu series!

I am struggling to review books at the moment. I have two outstanding but can’t find the energy to write. I did love Let Me Lie so hope you enjoy that and am looking forward to a new Diane Chamberlain.

Thanks, Emma, I would never get the books reviewed if I didn’t do it immediately after finishing each one. I won’t let myself move ahead with other books until it’s done.
Sometimes I start a Word doc before I finish the book, writing notes…so by the time I’m done, it’s almost written.
But…writing reviews is the least fun part. Sigh. Good luck getting your review mojo back!

I need to catch up on The Handmaid’s Tale, I’ve only seen one episode so far. I don’t have as much time for TV as I used to sadly. I’m excitedly waiting for the second season of Westworld, it took a while for me to get into the first but ending was incredible, I can’t wait to see what they do with it next!

Wow, that is serendipitous, Deb. I decided to read it (and watch the movie on Prime) after I had finished Christine Lahti’s new memoir (see above in my list). And, of course, I had to find some of her other movies to watch again.
Enjoy the book club discussion!

I hope your son is enjoying working on the film, though I’m aware the hours are insanely long… In the meantime, I hope you are able to keep sufficiently cool – we have had temperatures in the low 70s this week which was wonderful after such a looong, chilly winter… As ever, your reading schedule looks very organised and interesting:). Have a great week, Laurel!

Thanks, Sarah, my son has been texting me with photos from the location and the set. He has always loved this part of movie production, but mostly his work is in the financial part.
I like how excited he gets about the hands-on aspects.
Enjoy your week, and I don’t enjoy the heat here in our summers…but I’ll take it over the storms and blizzards!

The 90s is so hard to imagine right now. We do not usually hit that point until nearly August. Thank goodness. I do hope you are able to enjoy the sun though 🙂 The indie film project sounds fun! Your week seems so organized and unscattered. Reading four books is quite an accomplishment. I get to distracted lately and most of my reading is at night. I need to stay focused! Like you! Pie must be a theme running through friends this week. I made a Key Lime Pie this morning. The recipe came from a cozy mystery I read a few years ago and I have loved this recipe ever since!

Yes, get that AC ready! Ours was scheduled to be serviced in a couple of weeks, but decided to give out early. A tech came yesterday, but we need a new motor which they’ll hopefully bring back on Monday. In the meantime it’s toast warm here 😉

I’m looking forward to Housekeeping…as I’ve read a few of the author’s other books. I thought I had read this book, but I think I had just seen the movie. I watched the movie again this week.

Great books, I’ll need to read the next Joanne D book in the series, I am a way off Beach Bliss but you can pat yourself on the back because you introduced me to this series. I never got into Scandal, but I do have the DVD of Season 1. I should watch it then decide about the rest. The next season for us of Grey’s A begins this week and I usually watch that.

I hadn’t watched Scandal as it played out on the network, since I wasn’t impressed by the previews I’d seen. But then I was looking for something to watch on Netflix one day and started “a few episodes,” and I was soon hooked.
