This past week brought rain, a couple of storms, and better reading than the previous one.  What a relief!  Although I only finished reading and reviewing three books, I’m halfway finished with another.

So..it was a week curled up with books, but I also took time for a few movies, like I, Tonya and Wonder Wheel.  On Netflix, I binge-watched some new episodes on Last Tango in Halifax, and then started watching a sweet story about family:  Life Unexpected.

This weekend is our last for Bloggiesta (click to see what I did…so far).

So…that was pretty much it, but I got very little sleep at night with the reading and watching, which led to some naps during the days.  It’s a good thing that I’m retired!

That was my week….and I am looking forward to another one with good books.    What did your week look like?  Since I didn’t get out much, I impulsively ran out for some soup at Marie Callender’s on Thursday.  It was delicious!

    Even though you stayed close to home…your week sounded very full. We were in a soupy mood, too…chicken and veg and noodles made us feel cozy and warm! Isn’t Peter Swanson wonderful?

  3. Great to have a better reading week. I sort of want to see the movie I Tonya but not sure if I will or not. I’d go just to see Alison Janney! I read The Good Liar a few weeks back, interesting to see what you think. I didn’t like all of the characters!

  4. What a great week! So many familiar titles in there 🙂 I just read my first Peter Swanson book, and it left me hungry for more of his writing for sure. And The Good Liar definitely catches my eye. Hope you enjoy everything on deck for you!

    1. Thanks, Kaila, I’ve been reading some great reviews about Her Every Fear, and Peter Swanson was definitely on my list. Trying a library book first is my way of ensuring that I won’t have to slog through another book that I bought and didn’t enjoy.

      Chances are I will enjoy it, though.

    Glad it was a better week for reading! And I’ve heard that I, Tonya is good, but I haven’t had a chance to see it yet.

    Let Me Lie is one I’ve been sorta thinking of getting…

    Oh my gosh that soup looks GOOD! I always like your foods pics (especially Marie Callender’s- I feel like I’m getting to know the place lol) but maybe the soup ones the best?!?

    1. Thanks, Greg, I used to eat the soup at Marie’s all the time, and then switched over to the pot pies, pot roast, etc. I had forgotten how good the soup was!

      Loved I, Tonya, which surprised me, as all that skating almost scared me away. But I had recalled the “incident” that triggered Tonya’s fall as an Olympic skater, so I was curious. Plus…Allison Janney!

  8. Rainy days are perfect for reading – I am glad you got more reading done this week! I want to see I, Tonya but I didn’t really have time to go to the cinema this week.

    1. Thanks, Deb, I’ll be waiting for those beautiful Spring days. Retirement is the best…and I actually retired twice. First, from my main career, and then I went on to work another three years for a private company.

      So it’s bliss here…with time for naps and lie-ins. LOL.

    1. I just finished Map of the Heart last night, and I felt as though I were in those lavender fields, enjoying Provence. There were some great scenes in the Chesapeake Bay area, too.

        I want to start Stillhouse Lake and then I just got an ARC of Hiding for a book review tour. I’ll read that at night before bed. I don’t know. I feel like I have so many to read! =) Have a good week.

  20. Glad to hear you enjoyed Not That I Could Tell more than I did, I think I was the odd duck on that one. Lol, what can you do? Soup, wine and kindle looks like a perfect way to spend dinner, especially with all the rain! We’ve been getting a bunch hear, too, and I made some chicken noodle soup with mashed potatoes, and drank it with wine! Have a great week and enjoy your reads! 🙂

  24. We watched the I, Tonya movie last week too. It was pretty crazy but good in a different kind of way. Some nice performances too. I recall the skater back when it happened and when the lace on her boot broke — oh gosh that was a disaster. Who knows what to believe about banging in Kerrigan’s leg, but I felt for ole Tonya nonetheless. Still that episode was nuts. Enjoy your week & books.

    1. Thanks, Susan, I remember the Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan incident in real life, too…although I didn’t recall it being such a conspiracy.

    Naps are a good thing about retirement. So is being able to stay up late reading as much as you want without having to worry about getting up for work the next day. I hope this week is filled with enjoyable books. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  36. What did you think of I, Tonya? I followed figure skating pretty closely back then and would love to see it. You books sound good. My mother is Susan Wiggs newest fan and she’s convinced my sister to read her, too. The cover and title of Other People’s Houses are both appealing. Hope the soup was as delicious as it looks!

    1. I loved that soup…so full of big chunky vegetables.

      I watched I, Tonya for Allison Janney’s performance, which was great….and found myself caught up in the fabulous figure skating, which surprised me.

      I do recall the real-life Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan situation from years ago.

  37. Rainy days feel like they are here to stay in Oregon. It’s spring break and it is so cold and rainy. Not fun. I am sure once they are back in school next week it will be bright and sunny, right now it feels like the middle of winter. I hope you like Other People’s Houses. It is funny but beware of the crude language.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Heidi, and Oregon does have a reputation for a lot of rain, just as Washington does. It’s funny, though, I’ve visited both states several times and have never seen rain. Probably because I vacationed there in the summers…LOL.

      So far I’m loving Other People’s Houses.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Nise, and every time I think of moving (I’ve been here 11 years and would love a more updated condo), I realize that I would miss the neighborhood restaurants in the shopping areas around the corner from where I live. So I stay.

      We need more rain than what we’ve had…and as long as it doesn’t knock down power poles, etc., it is a comfy feeling to be inside reading with rain outside.
