WEEKLY UPDATES: A LITTLE READING, A LITTLE BLOGGING…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

After spending most of the week on one book, I quickly finished my second one.  So…only two books for the week.  They were both fabulous, though; and I also loved spending time doing things other than reading.  Nothing spectacular…just some movie watching (Three Billboards, etc.), Netflix bingeing (still Parenthood!), and a mani on Friday.  Oh, and I finalized my tax documents with the accountant.  So that’s behind me now!  I didn’t get around to much housecleaning, but I’m not sad about that…LOL.  I wouldn’t want to mess up the nails…

Bloggiesta is coming again…March 19-25, and predictably I’ve already started with a few cosmetic changes to my Serendipity blog.

Now I’ll grab some coffee…join me, please!  And let’s take a closer peek at my (not so stellar) week.

    1. Thanks, Elizabeth, I love the cover of Our House, too…in fact, a house on a cover is my favorite thing….and I am drawn to decor, which explains my obsession with mine. LOL.

I think The Perfect Nanny sounds very creepy and suspenseful…it will be hard to select books in the weeks ahead.

Thanks for visiting, and enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Cleo, I start making new blog headers as soon as I hear about an upcoming Bloggiesta…I love making these changes, and sometimes do it in between events, too.

Our House looks so good, doesn’t it? And, BTW, the dinner was a delicious accompaniment to my reading. (I was finishing up Sunburn last night).

Your week sounded full and happy…and your comfort food always looks comforting. We had to deal with snow…and cold…but it was still a good week for us…have a great week end!

  2. Hmm I need to visit Amazon to put the Jude D book into my wish list. Great to have two fab books in your line up for the week, that’s what really counts. Will be interested to see what you have to say about Alternate Side.

The French Girl and Sunburn are both on my “probably will read” list, so I’ll definitely be checking out your review of Sunburn. I’m still reading a lot of thrillers…

Bad Stories and The Perfect Nanny look good to me!

Yum! Looks like comfort food to me!!!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Deb, and I didn’t do any of this (blogging, etc.) until after I retired. I can’t imagine working and blogging…but who knows? Maybe I would have done just ONE blog. LOL.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Daniela, and I downloaded My Absolute Darling last summer…and then “forgot” about it until I recently read a rave review. I hope I enjoy it…but we shall see.

    1. Thanks, Cindy, I also love MHC….and the Alafair Burke series, too.

Right now I’m LOVING Alternate Side, although I keep getting distracted by movies, Netflix, etc. But I plan to mostly focus on the book today.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Oh, I’m glad, Kimberly…and I was very excited to get Our House, as I had requested it ages ago and was starting to think I wasn’t going to get it!

I also love the look of The Perfect Nanny. Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Ronnie, and I did love Three Billboards. It was a pretty angry story, but I rapidly identified with characters, loving some and hating others. I recommend it for those who don’t mind a little darkness.

      Enjoy! Thanks for visiting.

I like dark stories, I hope it’ll appeal to me too. It’s a good thing if the characters make a deep impression, be it positive or negative. That makes a good character-driven movie.

I have to check out Our House. The title and lovely cover just grabbed me! Your nails look wonderful and such a pretty color. I miss doing my nails. My work makes it useless to do much with them. I do have some fun colors for my little piggies though. LOL

    1. Thanks, Laura, I was excited to get Our House. And as for nails, mine didn’t last long enough to make it worth the expense…until I started having them do gel nails. Those last a good three weeks!

I am very hard on nails, so I can highly recommend the gel.

Enjoy your week…and thanks for visiting.

  6. I love the look of Our House – there are lots of houses like that in our town from the turn of the last century near the beach for posh people who wanted to spend time near the sea… Interesting to hear about the nail gel – thank you for the advice:). Have a great week, Laurel.

  7. Hi Laurel, what did you think of the Three Billboards movie? Pretty potent, eh? I’m envious that you are done with your taxes, what a relief that must be. I must go & read your reviews of both Sunburn & An American Marriage. I just read & liked that one too. You’ve had some good reads lately. Enjoy your week.

I do like your nails! You certainly wouldn’t want to mess them up 🙂 I am very curious about Jude Deveraux’s new book. I used to love her writing but haven’t read some of her more recent books. I hope you enjoy all of your new reads. Have a great week!

  9. Love that nail color! I’ve been wanting to read The Perfect Nanny for the past few weeks but I can’t believe my library doesn’t have it. I might just have to buy it like you did. I like the looks of Our House as well. Hope you have a great week!

Bad Stories looks like a good book for you. I will be interested in your comments.
I haven’t read Jude Deveraux in a long while. Hope you enjoy As You Wish.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Laura, and my taxes are much simpler now that I’m single, retired, and have an empty nest.

I had almost forgotten about My Absolute Darling until I read a rave review…so I found it hiding on the back end of my device.

I’ll be starting it today. Enjoy your week!

  11. Oh! I have been wanting to watch Three Billboards, what did you think?
I read The Perfect Nanny last month (though in French), and I really liked it. It’s interesting in that we know from the start who committed the crime. It’s a sad book but I really liked how it studied the characters.
Wishing you a great week and happy reading!

    1. Thanks, Kay, I’m glad you enjoyed The Perfect Nanny….and I LOVED Billboards, although it is dark and aroused a lot of anger in me. But it kept me riveted.

Enjoy your week…and thanks for visiting.

  12. Seems like you had a nice week 🙂 I won’t say that 2 books are less as I hardly manage to finish one 😛 I too cleaned my house this weekend and took almost a day 😦 It is such a tedious task.
Oh, I love your nail color 🙂
You reminded me that I too have to start watching Parenthood 😀 I love your book haul. I hope you enjoy all of your new books 🙂

    1. Thanks, Sim, this nail color choice takes me back to when I mostly picked a dark navy, purple range….and I feel like me again.

I feel better about my reading when I finish three or four books, but the two I read this week were so awesome…that I’m satisfied.

      Enjoy your week!

  14. After not reading much at all the past several weeks I’m chomping at the bit to lose myself in a good book. Looks like you’ve read some good ones! Comfort food is the absolute best – I’ve indulged quite a bit in it lately. There’s definitely a time for food that gives comfort 🙂 Have a lovely week, Laurel.
