Many years ago, on a Thursday, November 17, 1966, my firstborn came into our lives. And just a month later, he had his first Christmas (above). He wasn’t that impressed with it, but he had some great moments in front of the camera that first year.
Note: My start toward my bookish collections (below)

Second Christmas – 1967:

Twenty Years Later: (In those days, he preferred being BEHIND the camera….his photography love began at age eleven, with his first camera).

Before his European photography adventures began in the mid-nineties, he captured photos of our little family, using a timer: (This one was taken in 1991).

After he had been in Europe for a while, and after some shorter visits, he came back for a longer one in 2007…and (below), he is in our version of an Irish pub, standing next to one of his Ireland photos. (I have this same photo in my bedroom, which I call my Ireland Room).
After years in England, Ireland, The Czech Republic (Prague), Germany (Berlin), and now back in Prague…I think it’s safe to say that he’s an expatriate.
Last year, he and his lovely wife Gabi visited here….Gabi LOVED the big trees…

Celebrating my firstborn through our photos is symbolic of how we spend our time together, especially since we primarily visit him via Skype and Facebook…
How do you celebrate the birthdays of your offspring(s)?

Absolutely LOVE these photos and your post.
My son usually comes home for his birthday, and we get him a cake from his favorite hometown bakery.
Happy Birthday Wishes to Craig.

Thanks, Elizabeth, our occasional “in-person” visits are so special, since they are rare. I love the sound of your birthday celebrations.

Your son was born just about half a year earlier than me! I was born August 1967. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, Allison, and when I saw his birthday listed with others on FB, there were several who had the same date…but not the same year.

Beautiful photos. We celebrate birthdays in our family by sharing a meal… and birthday cake, of course!
Thank you for visiting my blog today and leaving a comment.

I would love to share a meal with him on his birthday, but so far, his visits have missed that occasion. Hmm, on purpose? No, probably not.
Thanks for stopping by, Sandra.

I agree, Deb…he is very happy there, and that’s where he met his lovely wife, too. I just hope they can visit a lot more in the next few years. I may have to go over there, despite my fear of flying…lol.

What lovely photos, especially the early ones. Nov 17th was special for me too, as my mum turned 96 on that day.
