Here we are, with a whole New Year stretched out before us, and it is time to celebrate the First Book of 2016 Event, hosted by Sheila, at Book Journey.
This is my third time celebrating this event, and the book I’ve chosen is a sequel to the one I chose last year. All Dressed in White (An Under Suspicion Novel), by Mary Higgins Clark & Alafair Burke is the second in the series.
Synopsis: The second thrilling novel in the New York Times bestselling Under Suspicion series following The Cinderella Murder, featuring intrepid television producer Laurie Moran as she investigates the case of a missing bride.
Five years ago Amanda Pierce was excitedly preparing to marry her college sweetheart in a lavish ceremony at The Grand Victoria Hotel in Palm Beach. Then, with their guests and families on site, Amanda disappeared.
In present-day New York City, Laurie Moran realizes a missing bride is the perfect cold case for her investigative television series, Under Suspicion. She and her team set out to recreate the night of the disappearance at the Florida resort with Amanda’s friends and family in attendance, hoping to shed new light on the mystery as the series has done in past episodes. With a jealous sister, playboy groomsmen, Amanda’s former fiancé now married to a bridesmaid, and rumors about the “beloved” bride herself, Laurie and Under Suspicion host Alex Buckley quickly realize everyone has a theory about why Amanda vanished into thin air.
One thing is certain: whoever was behind Amanda’s disappearance plans to keep the truth hidden “until death do they part…”

I have enjoyed this event every year since it began….and now I’m eager to see what everyone else is spotlighting.

Well that is clever, a sequel to the one you read last year! For a while, my first book every year was an Ann Rule book… yes true crime. I liked her writing and thought it was a bit crazy to read a true crime going into each year but that is what I did:)

Thanks, Sheila, and I also love Ann Rule’s books, but haven’t read one in a while. So glad you have continued this New Year tradition of First Books.

This is a great choice for a book. In the past, I’ve occasionally chosen something that is a bit too daunting for a first book. Like starting with a warmup in a race, I think.
Happy New Year!

Before blogging I used to start the year with a Mary Higgins Clark, especially if I didn’t buy and read it on release date. Great choice. I want to catch up on the couple I haven’t read, maybe 3, definitely not the last with another author. Happy New Year Laurel
