Do you like to talk about what you read? Do you have somebody to talk WITH?
(Because not everybody does. I haven’t had someone to really chat about a book with since college.)

I cannot remember the last time I had a real conversation in real life about the books I am reading or have read. All of those conversations are online for me these days.
Yes, back in college was probably the last time I had such a conversation, except for a short time afterwards when I belonged to a book club. But that book club was more of an opportunity for some of the members to show off their literary muscle, so to speak.
I remember that I did not enjoy this book club.
Later I attended a book club (about four years ago) in which the participants had invited me, as they had read one of the books I wrote and were talking about it. I loved their insights into the characters and they even brought out some things I hadn’t thought of about them….
I would love to belong to a book club nowadays, but in the meantime, I’m enjoying sharing bookish thoughts with bloggers.

I haven’t really had much luck with book clubs either.. I don’t think they are really up my alley. But sharing thoughts with other book bloggers, I am finding is really enjoyable! I do imagine that I will find less and less people to discuss books with as I get older and more removed from college than I am now, so I’ll have to try hard to keep the ones I have close!

Unfortunately, I don’t have real life book discussions either. My friends aren’t big readers like I am. I’ve always wanted to try out a book club, but with strangers, I’m not sure how I’d do. I’m an introvert. 🙂

Even a close friend I’ve known for for forty years does not love books like I do; or maybe it’s that we don’t enjoy the same ones. So blogging works for me!

I too, am a loner, no one close to discuss books with. I have a few friends who do read, but we don’t discuss what we have read. That is why I like the book bloggers, I have found so many new books and authors because of my booking bloggers.

My girlfriends aren’t avid readers like me – well, not until they read Fifty Shades series and they started talk about it, started to read other books and share about them too. It makes me so happy because finally, I have someone, people to talk and share with about books. Besides blogging, of course.

I love talking about books but book clubs are not my thing. I don’t like “having” to read any specific book. I like book conversations to be more organic and less structured.
Book blogging is great for those times when no one else wants to hear about what I’m reading. 😉

I am in the same situation. I remember when my boys were in grade school, after dropping the kids off for school, a bunch of moms would to out for breakfast and discuss what we were reading and pass books around. That’s why I enjoy this community of book bloggers now, only know it’s virtual. Thanks for stopping by and have a great upcoming weekend!

I am fortunate enough to have people to discuss books with in real life, but I’m hesitant to join a book club in my area. It’s always the kind of group that reads things I definitely don’t read. Thanks for stopping by!

I suggest you start your own book club. It’s been the greatest experience and as the creator/host you can shape it to your interest. Those that like it will stay and those that don’t will go. It’s amazing how many great people you meet.
