MAILBOX MONDAY

This week I received two review books…and didn’t buy anything on my own!  Yay!

1.  The Accidental Activist, by Alon Shalev (From Publicist)

David meets Goliath in the law courts of England in the 1990’s. The advent of the Internet is leveling the playing field as a multinational corporation tries to silence two young political activists in a riveting court case that captivates the political and business world’s attention. The company will try anything (sex, espionage, bribery and coercion) to stop or win this case. In fighting the corporation, a self-absorbed computer programmer discovers romance and a way to change the world one mega-pixel at a time.

2.  The Hazards of Hunting While Heartbroken, by Mari Passananti (From the Author)

Zoë Clark thinks her world will implode when her fiancé dumps her on the eve of their splashy wedding. After nearly a decade with her college sweetheart, Zoë feels like a teenager about to be eaten alive by the New York dating scene. And her problems don’t end there. Zoë works a less-than-ideal job, managing other people’s careers while her own ambitions wither. To add insult to injury, she does so in the employ of a larger than life woman whose staff measures the boss’s emotional state by the zealousness of her make up application. Quitting is out of the question; Zoë’s rent doubled when her fiancé bailed. Enter Oscar Thornton. He’s handsome, charming, attentive and rich – the perfect boyfriend. But does he harbor a dark secret? Or will Zoë torpedo her newfound happiness by indulging a far fetched suspicion? The Hazards of Hunting While Heartbroken tells the story of a young woman who sets out to find a man to solve her problems. Instead she finds herself facing her own shortcomings, testing her oldest friendships and realizing that she has the power to make herself happy. Packed with snappy dialogue and playful wit, The Hazards of Hunting While Heartbroken will strike a chord with any woman who’s ever allowed herself to think, My life would be perfect, if I could just meet the right guy.

  1. I love the sound of The Hazards of Hunting While Heartbroken and I’m going to look up Space on goodreads, it caught my attention for some reason. Have a great week and happy reading 🙂

    1. I know…it caught my attention, too, Teddyree. Maybe it’s because the cover looks mysterious to me. At first I thought it was a girl’s dress, but now I think it must be a flower.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks for stopping by…and for following, Aeicha. I love looking at covers, too…but, of course, the story must grab me as well. But without attractive covers, we probably wouldn’t pick them up and examine them further. Hmmm…

  2. I have to get my review of Darkness, My Old Friend up this week – I really enjoyed the book and am going to check out your review of it after leaving this comment!

I am definitely going to check out Isabel Wolff’s new book – I really enjoyed A Vintage Affair and this new one looks like it will be good, too.

    1. It’s good so far, Tea. My reading yesterday was a bit distracted, so I’m looking forward to uninterrupted reading today. (My grandson was here and had loads of stuff to keep telling me! LOL).

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your week.

    1. So far, The Leftovers doesn’t feel like a futuristic tale. I’m hoping that the ending will bring some resolution. I have really enjoyed two other books by this author.

Thanks for stopping by, Mari, and enjoy your week.
