Good morning!  Happy Labor Day for those who celebrate it.  Over at Should Be Reading, our host has posed another very provocative question:

If you knew you only had 30 days left to live, would books and reading still hold such a great priority in your life? Or, would you set aside your reading to do something else, spend more of your time elsewhere? What would you do, instead?

Wow!  Miz B really knows how to pose those questions, doesn’t she?

In some ways, I think I would carry on as usual, but my focus would shift, too.  I would want to connect with everyone I care about, and for those living within traveling distance, I would want to visit them.  Or have them visit me.

If I could travel, I would want to visit those places I’d been longing to see.  Like Europe, where my oldest son lives.  And New York, where I’ve gone in my imagination and through movies many, many times.

Books would be a secondary part of what I would do, and they would accompany me.  They are a great distraction and open up doors and windows like nothing else can do.

What would the rest of you do?  How would you change your focus, if you would do that?  Please stop by and comment.
